I did review this book but am not sure where it went so I will do a précis. Unfortunately I found this book hugely disappointing and skipped sections along the way. It’s difficult to remain interested in a long winded book with only four main characters who aren’t particularly engaging.. Liz was either in tears or fussing over Ali continuously every hour, her husband, Dane, supposed ex military, didn’t seem to exhibit skills he must have employed on tours of duty, Emma was always in a bad mood and distant but we later learn why and Ali, award winning business woman with a very lucrative and large property portfolio, seemed ignorant of blatant wrong doings within her own company. I hate giving negative reviews but sadly this was just not the book for me. More was needed to keep the reader interested and wanting to read more chapters. Poor Matthew may have been the most intriguing character of all.

My Husband's Secrets is a domestic thriller that really keeps you turning the pages. I really enjoyed the plot and found the writing really easy to follow and well paced. Thank you to NetGallery for the ARC.

Ali's and her husband get into a horrible accident on the way home from an anniversary party. Ali can't believe her husband is gone and is trying to process that has she physically heals from the accident. While recovering Ali slowly learns her husband kept several secrets from her. Undertaking her own investigation into his death she starts to wonder if she really knew him or if he is even dead. The presise of this book is exciting; however, in reality I found it a bit slow. There seemed to be pages and pages that did not move the story ahead and just confused the reader.

Thank you for this ARC.

I will admit I wasn’t sure about this at the start, it was a bit too slow for me, but once the plot had picked up pace, I was hooked! What a wonderful plot with a satisfying ending.

Interestingbook a bout suspense, lies, and secrets among spouses and friends who are also business associates. Language could have been toned down. The ending was a surprise and overall, a good book.

My Husband’s Secrets tells the story of Ali, who three months after a horrific car accident that (maybe?) took her husband’s life, is still recovering. Ali used to be a take no shit boss bitch, but now spends her days wallowing around the house and screaming to everyone that her husband is still alive.

In case you couldn’t tell, I didn’t particularly care for this one. I thought every single character was more horrible than the last which made it hard to root for anyone. I didn’t agree with any of the choices Ali or anyone around her made. I did read this quickly because I wanted to find out what happened, but the end didn’t make up for the lackluster story. If you’re looking for a quick mystery/thriller, this one is worth the read as it’s pretty short and fast, but it’s certainly not groundbreaking! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I haven’t read The Lake by this author but I’ll be reading it soon enough…if it’s anything like My Husband’s Secrets, it will be well worth the time. Ali and Matthew have celebrated their third anniversary with friends and family and on the way home, are involved in an accident. When Ali wakes up in the hospital, she finds more questions than answers, especially about her husband. My Husband’s Secrets is a thrill ride from the first page to the last. Surprises, betrayals, lies, all are contained within the storyline and, like the very best mystery thrillers, the ending is nothing like you could guess which I absolutely loved! Five stars for sure and already anticipating Ms. Sharland’s next novel.

Writing: 1.5/5 | Plot: 1/5 | Ending: 1/5

THE PLOT

Ali is recovering from a devastating accident involving her now presumed dead husband, Matthew. No body was found. So is he really dead? And if he's simply disappeared, why?

MY OPINION

Womp. WOmp. WOOOOOOMPPPPP. Lately I've noticed a trend where the author can somehow piece together an enticing prologue with decent writing, but afterward it all falls to shit. This was no exception. The prologue sucked me in; I thought here we gooooOOOOOO. Good writing. Nice descriptions but not over the top. Suspense. Intrigue. Mystery. But it ended there.

1 stars so you know the vibes. In this book we had:

- Endless rehashing of events. Literally within the first 20% of the book, Ali has the SAME convo about her husband being missing, not dead, with the same 3 characters, about 10490149 times. Girl.
- Unlikeable characters. All of them were some level of pathetic and/or delusional. I couldn't picture Ali as a "girl boss" (PUKE). She was relentlessly pathetic. bruh when she said something to the effect of: strength comes from making hard decisions in reference to serving tenants an eviction notice so she could flip their rental L M A O. Ah bah ouais... you are such a pillar of strength for throwing poor people on the street so you can make a buck off gentrification. (double puke)
- Irrelevant details. In one scene her friends pops over and he's like oh sorry to surprise you, I was just worried and she says "that's why I gave you the key" and then the author legit writes 3 sentences about WHY she gave the key as if that wasn't gleaned by that whole convo?????? Closed caption ass writing.
- Soggy ass reveal. That's it?????
- Bleak ending involving characters wildin with a gun to force a confession. Lame. Lazy. Uncreative. I'd literally say ANYTHING if a gun was pointed at me. You want me to twerk while confessing to multiple murders?? SAY LESS. I'd throw my ass in every geometric shape possible.

PROS AND CONS
Pros: prologue
Cons: everything else

It is Ali and amatthews wedding anniversary. They have gone out to celebrate when they are involved in a fatal car accident and Matthew is killed.

Ali is consumed with grief and she now has to navigate the world without Matthew in it. But as the months pass Ali starts to question whether she really ever knew Matthew at all. As she starts uncover lots of secrets that Matthew has kept from her over the years.

A really good, gripping story. With a great storyline and great characters. I really enjoyed it.

I loved every second of this story. It is everything you want from a domestic noir book. The characters all are well written, 3d individuals in their own right who make mistakes whilst trying to get through life. This book never resorts to clichés or characters you've read about 20 times before. There are plenty twists and turns the deeper into it you go and it definitely proves that you can never entirely know someone no matter how close you may be. I literally flew through this in a day and just couldn't put it down! Every spare 5 minutes I had were used to get further along and hopefully finally some answers. It'll have you hooked! A perfect summer or lazy day read

A terrific domestic thriller that I read in one sitting! The sense of dread was real for this one, as an unsuspecting wife came to discover some significant secrets belonging to her (potentially) deceased husband.

Grief-stricken, Ali can’t bring herself to believe that her beloved Matthew is gone… The smell of his aftershave lingers in their bedroom. His voice still rings out on their answerphone. She sees his face in the eyes of strangers. But as the months pass, and her family and friends rally round, Ali starts to uncover secrets that Matthew kept from her. Did she really know her husband as well as she thought she did? And why can’t she shake the feeling that somehow, somewhere, he is still alive?
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me an advance copy of this psychological thriller.

This book was sent to me by.Netgalley for review electronically. The characters are likable…the story moves quickly…there are a few red herrings, but the novel ends in a way that is somewhat predictable…that is a good thing for me…I love the guessing…this author is gifted in weaving a tale that is realistic…enjoy…
