Enjoyed the book, but not as much as the previous one. It was still a fun read. This book was more sad and didn't have as much happen as the first book. Unless you count Ashley going on and on about Eddie having a baby with his ex. I'm not really sure what her problem is with Eddie.
I'm pretty sure most guys her age have already been married and have a child or two. She's upset about something that happened before she even met Eddie. Half the problems would be solved if people actually talk with each other. Berecombe sounds like a lovely place to live, plus there's so many people I would want to be friends with. I'm pretty sure we haven't see the last of Petra. Can't believe how mad Asley was that Petra was following her dream. Definitely didn't enjoy Ashley as much in this book. Eddie is perfect for Ashley, if only she can get over the baby. I loved Ruby and have a feeling Chet might be Eddie's grandfather. The next book can't come fast enough.
Definitely recommend the book. I can't wait for the final book in the series and finally finding out who was Ruby's love during the War. Hopefully Ashley will come to her senses with Eddie. I'm sure Bree will stir up some drama to keep Ashley and Eddie apart. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
The story follows on from the first book.
Ashley’s relationship with Eddie is not going well after he informed her that Bree, his ex is having his baby.
Jake, who’s an artist arrives in town and Ashley is faced with more problems and confusion. I loved the previous book, and this one was even better, having new characters and that same feeling of being in a lovely community.
Ruby continues with sharing her memories of the past as D Day approaches.
I’m looking forward to reading what happens next for Ashley and Eddie and the other characters.
Following on from the first book in the series Ashley's relationship with Eddie is under a great amount of strain following the revelation that his ex Bree is expecting his child. Throw in a young local artist, Jake, and she is even more confused.
Having read and loved the first book in the series I was looking forward to this one and wasn't disappointed. With the same cast of characters, plus a few new ones, that community spirit is still there. Ruby's memories of the town during the war show part of the affect on civilians as well as the soldiers waiting for D Day,adding to the story. The ups and downs of the romance between Ashley and Eddie is frustrating, but understandable, but that's why there is a book 3 to come. Looking forward to reading this, I already have an advance copy sitting in my TBR list and I shall be reading this next, plus I had already pre-ordered it anyway.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I have already ordered it on release.
