Sea Glass Cottage is a fun, romantic, idyllic story of love, trust, second chances, and so much more. Faith is an important aspect of the story as the characters develop, learning to trust and love again with life’s ups and downs. Although the book is part of a larger series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I recommend this heartwarming novel that reminds us about love and trust and the power of faith.
Thanks to Revell and Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Christi Reece was once a spoiled rich girl who only thought of herself. She broke the heart of her father's landscaper, Jack ten years earlier. Jack is now living in Hope Harbor as a local policeman by day, and an author by night. Then, Christie shows up claiming she's nothing like she was before and asking for a rather large loan. Before giving her an answer, his world is upended like never before. He discovers he has a ten year old daughter, Hannah, whose mother died and needs the father she never knew.
Christi gets one surprise after another soon after arriving in Hope Harbor (don't you just love that name?). She's first offered a part time job. What does she really have in Dallas to return to? Then, she's offered free rental at the lovely cottage with sea glass windows.
Hope Harbor is the town that welcomes everyone. Get acquainted with Charley while dining on his famous fish tacos and giving out bits of wisdom.
Then, there's Steve and Beth, who have experienced an unimaginable tragedy which has torn their marriage apart. Steve has finally realized what Beth tried so many years to get him to see. While it's too late for their son, is it also too late for the two of them?
Wonderful story of forgiveness, faith and second chances.
I was given an advanced copy by the publisher, Revell through Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
The small town of Hope Harbor finds Christi Reece desperately seeking help. She is sure Jack Colby can help her. But Jack has built a new life and doesn't expect to see the girl who broke his heart ever again.
I found the secondary characters, Beth and Steve, added a deep heart part to the whole plot.
Hannon writes with such depth. Her stories always wrap around your heart. Forgiveness and restoration added with tenderness throughout the story. A very inspiring emotional read.
It is a nice clean romance, with humor and the struggles of life. Well written and engaging, Irene Hannon once again brought us a heartwarming story about second chances.
This is the eighth installment in the Hope Harbor series. But you can read every one as a stand alone.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Jack Colby is Christi Reece's only hope, so she drives up to Hope Harbor to ask for his help. Though his reception of her is cold, events keep coming up that prevent her from leaving, and she finds herself falling in love with the small coastal community.
Christi has changed a lot since she and Jack were last together. I loved her heart for helping others and how time has matured her, Hope Harbor welcomes her with open arms and I liked how she befriends Beth and supports her through all that she is going through. I liked how Steve keeps reaching out to Beth and his friendship with little Noah.
This is a well written read, with a wonderful cast of characters, plenty of heart, second chances, faith, and forgiveness. I loved returning again to the small town community, and seeing some familiar faces along the way. I thought that the character development was well done, with good growth arcs, and a strong sense of community and family. A heartwarming read full of faith and second chances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Sea Glass Cottage was the first novel by Irene Hannon that I've read and I enjoyed it. I appreciated the themes of redemption, how God can use hardships to mold us. Readers of sweet, inspirational romance will enjoy this inspiring story that takes place in a small, coastal Oregon town. I read it as a stand-alone, although it is part of a larger series.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this novel. All opinions are my own.
Sea Glass Cottage is the eighth book in Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series, but it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Christi Reece comes to Hope Harbor needing to borrow money from Jack Colby, the man who she hurt years ago. Hannon has once again created a story of love and redemption that will transport readers to the idyllic Oregon seaside town of Hope Harbor.
This was a heartwarming story of overcoming difficulties and learning to forgive, and I truly enjoyed it.
Christi is trying to right a wrong, and the only person who can help her do that is Jack. But she has no reason to believe he'll do that since she broke his heart eleven years earlier and they haven't seen each other since.
So how do you prove to someone that you've changed? And how do you convince them to forgive you? You can't! All you can really do is prove it to them through consistent action. And that's just what Christi and Jack have to work their way through.
I loved the questions this book explored and the characters of this town. It's my first experience with Hope Harbor, but I will definitely be coming back! I look forward to future books in the series.
Thanks to Irene Hannon, Revell and Net Galley for an advance review copy.
This was a fun read.
The characters are well developed and tug at your heartstrings. There is a sprinkle of mystery throughout to keep the story more engaging.
While a romantic storyline is a main theme, the choices and consequences of those choices drive bulk of the story.
I appreciate that while people can change and be forgiven, it is not instant. Time and consistent change of actions are required before trust can be built again. This storyline is much more realistic than many I’ve read.
You can’t go wrong with a Hope Harbor book. Sea Glass Cottage is book eight in the series by Irene Hannon. Christi Reece is in need of help that Jack Colby is unwilling to give. That decision comes back to head him in the head since soon he finds he needs her help too. They have a past, and it is not all pleasant. Without giving away anything I can say besides being a second chance romance it is also a story of forgiveness, and God’s grace in our lives.
I may be a little prejudice since this is my favorite fictional town series by her. I started the series in the middle but have been going back to catch up with the first books in it. So, while there are some reoccurring characters each book reads well on its own.
The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
It was wonderful getting back to Hope Harbor!! Sea Glass Cottage was an inspiring romance with two story lines. I enjoyed them both. Can people change? Can there be forgiveness and restoration in a relationship? This book dealt with these issues and I loved seeing how it all panned out. Of course, it was a happily ever after. If you are looking for a romance with
a beautiful setting, with precious characters, and with a happily ever after, then you will enjoy this read. I had a wonderful getting away from reality into this fictional world.
*I was given a copy of this book by the publisher and this is my honest opinion
4.5 stars
Oh the joy of another Hope Harbor book. Cristi comes to Hope Harbor in a last ditch effort to get help from someone she hasn’t seen in years. Here she finds out that Hope Harbor has a bit of magic and finds out what home really means.
Sea Glass Cottage is the eighth book in the Hope Harbor series. While several familiar characters and places make an appearance in this book, I think this would be just fine to read as a standalone as well... though I would certainly recommend the series as a whole anyway, as it is absolutely fantastic... Sea Glass Cottage is no exception.
Whether it's a actioned packed suspense or a sweet romance, Irene Hannon never ceases to entertain. She is one of my top must reads, and this is another great example as to why. In this one, we meet Christi and Jack, as Christi is seeking help from the man whose heart she had broken many years before. I am always on board for a good second chance romance, and this one definitely is that. Not only that, but there is a secondary couple as well who are also needing a second chance as well. Both of these romances were fantastically written and come together to show us that with God, people really can change. It offers a beautiful message of forgiveness, redemption and of course hope.
Whether this is your first visit to Hope Harbor or only your most recent, this is definitely one not to be missed.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
This visit to Hope Harbor is a heartwarming tale of second chances, family, coming back from adversity, strength, taking chances, faith, and love. The characters are delightful and realistic, the setting is idyllic, and the story is fast-paced and entertaining. I very much enjoyed this return to Hope Harbor!
In Sea Glass Cottage, by Irene Hannon, Christi Reece stumbles into Hope Harbor seeking to ask Jack Colby, a man from her past, for help. This is the last man she has any desire to approach. However, Christi has no other choice!
Christi, a woman that Jack had hoped to never encounter again, is actually in his new hometown. Jack, who works as a police officer by day and a successful author by night, does not know what to do with this woman. Before Christi even gets an answer from Jack about her request, she receives an anonymous offer to work as caretaker of an abandoned cottage in Hope Harbor!
Hold tight to see what may come of a relationship that crumbled into dust so many years ago!
Sea Glass Cottage is a very well written romance. I loved the plot, character dynamics and the setting. Ms. Hannon has written another winner. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Another great novel in Ms. Hannon’s Hope Harbor series. This eighth book in this series gives me a reason to return to the fictional town of Hope Harbor and its many characters. It feels like going home. Irene Hannon is one of my favorite authors and she delivers once again in this book. The story is filled with hope, encouragement, love, forgiveness that keeps you reading from front to back. It’s hard to put down. I highly recommend this series.
A return trip to Hope Harbor is like a family reunion with people you know and love. We get to visit with various characters from previous books, and of course that includes Charley the artistic taco vender and purveyor of sage wisdom.
Sea Glass Cottage provides all the adversity a reader would expect to find when one-time golden girl Christi Reece and former boyfriend Jack Colby's lives get off track. It turns out they're both very different people than they used to be after eleven years have passed. They have so many issues to overcome and chances to extend forgiveness and grace. I loved watching it all unfold. Christi's compassion and tenderness with Jack's daughter Hannah was enough to win me over, and Jack too.
I also love Hannon included a second romance equally challenging and appealing between two parents after the loss of their teenage son. I had a lot of sympathy for both Beth and Steve and was cheering for them all along the way. Foster parenting and adoption is heralded, and I applaud the author for adding young Noah, with all his artistic talent and need of a loving home.
Some of my favorite quotes from Sea Glass Cottage:
*"Adversity can be a road map to God."
*"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." (Einstein)
*"A mighty hand governs the eternal clock."
Sea Glass Cottage is such a wonderful, charming story I can hardly wait for the next family reunion in Hope Harbor. This is a series so rich and full, I expect it to become a classic for our times. In my book it already is! I so appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy of Sea Glass Cottage available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
Christi Reece travels to Hope Harbor, OR to see Jack Colby -- a former boyfriend. He doesn't want anything to do with her. He has restructured his life and is a famous writer as well as a local police officer. Christi agrees to stay and help out a lady who is having surgery by running her shop for her. She also sort of falls into a place to live -- Sea Glass Cottage -- an empty house that Jack had been hoping to purchase. This is another in the wonderful Hope Harbor series. I've enjoyed all the characters I've met so far and hope to meet some more in the future.
I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.
BEAUTIFUL STORY OF TURNING HURT INTO HEALING!
Author Irene Hannon returns with Book 8 in her Hope Harbor Series and it is a beautiful story turning hurt into healing. Ban on has a way of composing plots that draw readers in with engrossing subject matter, realistic characters, the beautiful setting of Hope Harbor, and plenty of intrigue to keep your attention from beginning to end.
Christi Reece is desperate and coming to Hope Harbor and asking Jack Colby for help proves the depth of her desperation! The two have a past and it ended badly and they have not seen each other since. He felt deceived by her when they were young and he has never gotten over her. The problem is, will she be able to convince him her changes are for real? He has undergone some challenges of his own and one shows up on his doorstep just as Christi moves to town. Join author Irene Hannon as she brings you this beautiful story of turning hurt into healing.

** “Reading the Bible is easy. Living it is hard. Besides, putting God’s words into action can change hearts faster than spouting verses — don’t you think?” **
Take another delightful trip back to Hope Harbor, the town of second chances, with Irene Hannon’s latest offering, “Sea Glass Cottage.”
When Christi Reece heads to Hope Harbor to seek financial help from the last man who would ever want to see her — Jack Colby, the man whose heart she broke 10 years ago — she finds herself in a town that soothes her heart.
And when Jack suddenly needs Christi’s help with an unexpected surprise in his own life, the two slowly learn to trust each other once again while moving beyond past heartaches.
Hannon once again creates delightful main characters who are relatable and have very real flaws, as well as some adorable young characters. We also get to visit several Hope Harbor favorites, including bickering priests, an adorable seagull couple named Floyd and Gladys, a fun pelican named Harpo, and Charley, the ever wise taco guy.
As always, Hannon will put a smile on your face and a flutter in your heart, as well as offer you some great themes, like one simple, caring gesture can make all the difference; no one has a corner on mistakes; should haves can be hard to live with; it’s never too late for hope; tastes change, like people; live your faith; hurts that run deep are hard to heal; and there are no coincidences (“As my abuela used to say when I was a boy in Mexico, coincidence is nothing more than a small miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous”).
Even though this is the eighth installment in Hannon’s “Hope Harbor” series, you could read “Sea Glass Cottage,” which is due out April 5, as a standalone, but I would strongly encourage you to go ahead and read the other stories in the series. The next of at least three more books is due in April 2023.
Five stars out of five.
