I loved By The Book! It was a fun book and the concept was so interesting. Izzy editing Beau's book was a really interesting way to create tension and it made the plot easy to read because it was so fun. I will be reading Jasmine's books in the future because By the Book was so sweet.
This book packed a lot of punch in such a small package! And it super enjoyable! I normally don’t love loose retelling for fairytales but this was done super well!
Ever want to read a fairytale that takes places in today’s modern world? Well, Jasmine Guillory delivered just that with this book. Books about books are like extra icing on the cake! This is a retelling of a fairytale and I loved everything about it. The characters, the plot, and the romance. I felt like it dragged in the middle/end but overall it was a great read.
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me advance access to this title. I really enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more from this author. As a reader, I am really motivated by character driven stories and I found myself quickly becoming immersed in these characters’ lives. Full review to come.
Jasmine continues to amaze us readers. I’m not one that is into romance novels but this as a start will have me wanting to read all of Jasmine’s novels. The characters could be real people. The love and drama can be real life . I appreciate her relatable writing , the twist and turns keep you reading. It was a fast quick read
By the Book is a charming and heartwarming romance novel by Jasmine Guillory. Guillory does a wonderful job of creating two likable and relatable characters in Izzy and Beau. Izzy is a strong and independent woman who is fiercely passionate about her work. Beau is a complex and wounded man who is struggling to find his way in the world. The two of them have a natural chemistry that is undeniable. This is a sweet and tender romance that will leave you feeling happy and uplifted once you finish!
I love everything that Jasmine Guillory writes! By the Book (a Meant to Be Novel) was no exception. She writes the best characters!
Thank you to Netgalley and Hyperion Avenue for sending me a copy of this book! All opinions are my own!
This was such a cute Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I devoured it so quickly! I absolutely loved all of the little nods to the original story! It was all really well placed and stayed away from veering into the realm of cheesy, and I really appreciated that for a romcom!
I loved the chemistry between Izzy and Beau and I really enjoyed the way that their relationship progressed so naturally. They actually got to know each other and ended up bonding despite their differences. I loved the ways that they bonded and the banter between them and the fact that, despite the attraction at first sight, there wasn't instalove. They ended up being so cute and I loved watching them together!
I also really enjoyed the look into the publishing industry and (lack of) diversity within it. This really gave such a cool depth to the story for book lovers to see and understand a bit more about the behind the scenes of the work.
If you're a romcom fan, you'll definitely want to check this out!
I loved this one. Jasmine Guillory is a treat to read always. Fans of hers will adore this book as much as her others. Thank you netgalley for a copy!
Once again an amazing Disney retelling!! These Meant to Be books are so much fun and I love that they are for an adult audience! This book is fun and heartfelt and a great one for book lovers! I always love Jasmine's writing and this was no different. I can't wait to see what comes next in the Meant to Be series!!
Jasmine Guillory is a favorite and she delivers again with great dialogue, chemistry, plus a love story that we can all root for. I loved that the heroine is intelligent, smart and learns about her own worth throughout the novel before the happy ending. A solid and engaging read.
Not my favorite of hers but still enjoyable. Felt a little trite but perfectly fine. Probably went into it with expectations that were too high.
I am a sucker for books about books and reading, and this one did not disappoint! Even better, it is a loose re-telling of the most bookish fairy tale of all time, Beauty and the Beast,
Izzy is a charming and bubbly Beauty who is an editorial assistant with a sense of humor. Beau is a gruff and reclusive Beast who is struggling to finish (or start?) his long-awaited memoir. That "something" between them is undeniable, and happily ever after seems more than attainable the more they get to know each other.
Recommended for adults. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Hyperion Avenue, for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Isabelle loves books and stories and works as an editor’s assistant at Tale as Old as Time. She longs to be an assistant editor, to help people tell their stories, and to write her own books. While on a trip to California, she makes a home visit to Beau, a recluse celebrity, to check on his progress with his memoir for her boss. After a rocky start, she agrees to stay on to encourage him along the way. This is an enjoyable romance, without being graphic. Romance, friendship, family, and books! (Plus, fun nods to a movie version of the story!)
I love Jasmine Guillory and this is her take on beauty and the beast. And it's about writing, and making your way. I like what she did with this retelling
I love books about books! Unfortunately, I didn’t love this one. Guillory has a following, but after several attempts, I must admit that I am not part of it.
The love story lacked tension and chemistry. The characters fell flat. I just didn’t love it.
I love Guillory’s writing style. Thanks so much for the review copy. I look forward to reading more of her books
This book was brilliantly written, tropes and all. The characters were well developed, the plot was predictable (but not in an overwhelming way). I’d recommend this book for fans of Guilloroy, or folks looking to read about romance that is also tied to discovering oneself in the process.
Unfortunately, I just couldn't finish this one. I wasn't connecting with the romance and didn't feel the usual spark, chemistry and wit I get from Guillory's other stories.
I loved the idea of this concept and I know it's one of a selection of books recreating fairy tales by different authors, so it's possible this break from the author's typical writing style is what didn't work for me.
This book was cute. I love this series and that different authors are each writing books. This book, though based off Disney stories, was it's own stand alone book. The book was cute, engaging, and complete with romance.
