I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, and after reading the first two books, I was really interested to see how the series would finish up.
Philippa, the heroine is half Indian and part of the ducal family by marriage, and Will, the hero, is French-American. It's an interesting pairing in how they come at the managing of the ducal estate through different backgrounds, and they are lovely together on page. I imagine that it was a challenging book to write because you can already guess, if you've read the first two books, that the hero of the third book has to be the real heir... and so Linden really leans into the character elements. For me, that worked immensely well.
The resolution and the twist at the end happen quickly, and that also didn't really bother me because of the knowledge you go in with as the result of the series. I thought the ending was also really lovely.

This was a satisfying conclusion to this series--one that both builds on the stories and characters that came before and is a good standalone.
Will Montclair takes a position as a steward for the Duke of Carlyle despite being in London with his brother to expand their family's shipping business. He plans to only be in the position for a year at most, yet he gets wrapped up in the Carlyle estate and family almost at once--and despite his best efforts to keep his distance. Hardest of all is staying away from Miss Philippa Kirkpatrick, the duchess's step-granddaughter and beloved companion. As he and Philippa skirmish and then grow closer, and as Will become more enmeshed in the estate and its people, he begins to wonder whether he should defy his family and reveal secrets that could change his life forever.
Will and Philippa have great chemistry, and it's fun to watch them work to figure each other out. Philippa finds him piratical and attractive, yet bristles at his quick judgments and refusal to follow advice or behave. Will alternately tries to charm and hold Philippa at arm's length, knowing he can (or should) not stay at Carlyle forever. They wrestle with their attraction, and even after giving in, still need to figure out whether its possible for them to be together. Independently, they are also lovely, complex characters: Will is kind and hardworking if a bit mysterious even to the reader, and Philippa is loyal, intelligent, and determined. Great characters on their own, and great characters together.
Ratcheting up the tension, of course, is the poor health of the current duke and the hunt for a suitable heir that has been driving this series. We've met two of them in the past installments, both of whom would be good dukes but are well-situated in their current lives with their new loves. In those books, we met the imperious duchess before those potential heirs went off to establish themselves. Here, we become better acquainted with the family at the heart of this desperate hunt, and the urgency behind the heir hunt feels more tangible as the duchess, Miss Kirkpatrick, and the duke himself become central characters.
Highly recommend!

I was so excited to read this book! I have enjoyed all of Caroline Linden's books, and the Desperately Seeking Duke series has been my favorite. This was a great book and I was not seeing the direction it was going until the end, which made it even better! Philippa was a great heroine. She was confident yet vulnerable and I loved her and the Duchess' relationship. I wish we could have seen more of Philippa's London experience. Will's trajectory was a little confusing, I wish at the beginning we saw more of his inner conflict, but perhaps that is why I didn't see the conclusion right away. I loved Philippa and Will together and wish we had gotten a little more of that, it seems like we had flashbacks of them spending more time together but not as much as I wanted in the book that I was reading. Without spoiling anything, I do wish we had gotten a little more at the end, it wasn't their story so maybe I'll wish for a novella to come next! I love the Carlyle heir stories and hope we can see what happens in the next chapter. Great series, great book!

The trilogy concludes with one more lost heir to be brought in to be made "suitable" - but it isn't who you think. Lots of hand wringing about the lost heir being French - made worse when the duchess finds out, even worse, that branch of the family is now Canadian! Shades of Love in a Cold Climate.
Meanwhile, the family lawyer has brought in a new estate manager to help with the falling-down estate where the duchess has been a little too careful to not change anything for the past 30 years - although she has a good point about not wanting the ducal version of Child Services to be called.
Sparks fly between the two main characters as Phillipa and Will gradually come to see eye to eye on opposing viewpoints, and then see how much they fit together and are both willing to throw everything away for love.
Awesome end to this great trilogy!

Hey. Thank you for allowing me to read this book. It was a good book. I was hooked from the start. The writing was impeccable. One small suggestion I would like to make ammi's ammi or mother's mother is Nani not Daadee. Daadee is father's mother. It was really a great experience reading this book.

Having never read Caroline Linden before, I did not know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! The characters were nuanced and the story kept me interested until the end.

Philippa Kirkpatrick has been raised at Carlyle Castle by her doting guardian, the Duchess of Carlyle. With the succession of the dukedom in question, much of the estate has been frozen in time. The arrival of new estate manager should be a relief, but instead William Montclair causes chaos with reports of much needed repairs. Philippa is determined to help Will navigate the Duchess's temper and the need for improvements. But she is intrigued by him; and the more time they spend together, the more she imagines a future with Will in it. Will, however, has family secrets, and never meant for his time at Carlyle to be permanent.
This is the third book in the Desperately Seeking Duke series. It can be read alone, but it is better when the reader cares about the "heir search" that has been taking place in the background of the other stories. There is some confusion at the beginning of the book about where this hero comes from and why he was hired as estate steward. I believe this was done on purpose, but - for me - it started the story off on shaky ground.
The Duchess's daughter was married to Philippa's father and raised Philippa at Carlyle Castle after the death of her parents. Between the Duchess's age, the Duke's health, and a possible missing heir, Philippa knows she needs to plan for a life beyond Carlyle...but she intends to make sure the estate is in good hands first. Will confounds her and fascinates her. She questions whether they could share a future, or if she should follow the Duchess's not-so-subtle hints to husband hunt in London.
I think this book had a bit of a balance problem as there was a lot of set up and then so much was revealed at the very end. The family tree became confusing, and I would have liked for Will's character to expose more to the reader over the course of the book. I still had a lot of questions and was not satisfied with where the story ended.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review. #AllTheDukeINeed #NetGalley

Linden fans this is a winner!
Will and Phillipa were a great couple!!. The family tree was a bit confusing at first, as the story unfolds it makes sense, mostly!!
Without giving too much away, Will has family secrets at the same time intently curious. Phillipa is a sheltered country miss. It was a great story with longing, secrets and smooching.
I thought the duchess was a lot more bitter than the previous novel, which was not expected. The duke was great a few more scenes with him would have been good.
I wanted to see more with the duchess and family at the end!!! Longer epilogue. Unless it's saved for the next book!
Overall another great story from Caroline Linden!

I have received a copy of this from the publisher (from the FB page because they reject ALL my requests directly on NetGalley - grrrrrr) in exchange for an honest review.
Caroline Linden is one of my favorite authors and I was invested in this series since it started. I loved the first two books and... liked this one. On one hand, I really appreciated that it was a lot more realistic than the 'trendy' HR books with very modern attitudes and more inaccuracies than historical veracity. On the other hand... man, it was slow. Again, most probably it is how this type of relationship would have played out at the time but a bit too Jane Austian for my reading buds that are now used to heated arguments and hanky-panky thirty pages in. My favorite character was the Duchess. I think the author wrote her flawlessly in the way you never come to like her but you eventually understand and sympathize with her.
For those who are like me and wonder this whenever they pick up a romance: the sexy times are open door but happen once at about 80%.
A nice read and a good end to the "who is the new Duke" mystery.

This was a great end to the series. Like the best Caroline linden books it had plenty of heat, and it was interesting to watch the central drama of the series resolve itself. The characters were likable and I love a book with a woman of color as the heroine.

I really enjoyed All the Duke I need by Caroline Linden. It's a great story about Pippa and Will. Pippa is Indian while Will is American, and they encounter each other on an estate in England. Will turns out to be the heir to the Dukedom and can't stay away from it because he is too curious to see his ancestral home. While there, he encounters Pippa, the Duchesses step-granddaughter. Pippa is very dear to Her Grace and plays an important role in the running of the castle.
I felt the writing was well done and the story moved at a good pace, not too fast, but not sluggish, either. I enjoyed the character development and the storyline about what happened with the Duke. There was not too much going on, but enough to keep it interesting. The only thing I would change about the book is that it feels a little out of left field that Will is the heir. There are some seemingly random hints dropped after the halfway mark that I'd redo. It was clear the author was trying to do something, but not clear as to what precisely that was. Also, there is some steam in this book but by and large I'd rate it 3.5/5stars for steam alone.
It was an enjoyable read and it was fun to learn more about Indian culture through a few tidbits included throughout the book.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the Desperately Seeking Duke series but it worked well as a standalone. I read the first book but it’s not necessary to jump into this story. If you read the other books and remember that the possible Carlyle heirs are “An army man, a cardsharp, or a Frenchman,” then the set up here is obvious.
Philippa is the adopted granddaughter and loyal companion of the Duchess of Carlyle, and American William Montclair has been hired as the castle’s new steward. He intends to work for only a year to make enough money to help his brother launch the English branch of the family shipping business.
The duchess is suspicious of any newcomer, and Philippa and William argue over how best to care for the castle. The estate has fallen into disrepair, and despite clashing over their differences in manner and attitide, Philippa decides to help Will adjust to his role.
I liked Philippa and William’s rapport immediately. She thinks he’s barely better than a pirate and he hates how she puts him on the defensive. He’s impertinent and smart, and she’s sharp and caring and I thought it was going to be a fun ride.
I wish the initial rapport had been carried through consistently because things didn’t pick up for them until the half way point, and soon after they were separated. By not being honest with Will sooner about the duke’s health, it slowed the beginning of the story.
I struggled with understanding some of Will’s choices, and a few of them left me not liking him. If we had seen more from his point of view it might have helped. This tie-ins to the duchess’s quest to find a long lost heir. The resolution was predictable, and yet somehow the ending still felt a rushed and a little out of the blue. There needed to be more from Will’s perspective and backstory to make it believable for me.
Pippa Noor un-nisa Kirkpatrick is clearly inspired by Kitty Kirkpatrick, born Noor un-Nissa whose father was a colonel with the East India Company and whose mother was a Hyderabadi noblewoman. Kitty and her brother were sent to England as children. I’m here for more accurate Indian representation in Georgian England/set historical romance. I just wish the inspiration behind Philippa had been obfuscated a little better.
3.5 stars
I received this ARC from NetGalley

I loved this book! Readers may guess the ending early on, but it is so well written you just have to keep on reading. But - I want to know more - does the Duke get better? Does Will's Dad stay in England or does he let Will stay and eventually inherit? Thank you, Caroline Linden - this one is worth a second, third, or ???? reading!

*3.5*
I really enjoyed this book and I think it’s my favourite of the three in this Desperately Seeking Duke series. The two main characters, Philippa and Will, were lovely! I loved their chemistry and banter. As opposed to the previous books, I felt this one had fewer supporting characters and changes of location, allowing the main characters to spend more time alone, which is something I personally prefer.
However, I felt that the middle of the story dragged a bit. There was a lot about estate management and I found some scenes and interactions slightly repetitive. The ending on the other hand, felt a bit rushed. I wish more pages were given to wrap up all the different plot lines and loose ends. Whatever happened with that French shipping client? It looked like he was being built up to be a bit of a villain. I still had questions about the big twist and wanted to see more of the family after the final reunion.
I wish there was a family tree somewhere because there was mention of so many brothers and various relations, that I was a bit confused as to who was who. This was the case for me with the previous books in the series as well.
That being said, I loved the writing style and was fully engrossed in the story from beginning to end.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC.

What can I say about this book! It was a wonderful continuation to the series. Pippa and Will was a wonderful love story that was earned through friendship and understanding. I think their love story made an nice end to the series. I throughly enjoyed this story. The only downside of this story is I wanted to see the ending of the family reunion.

A fun and unexpected finale for the series.
I just started reading….. starts off really well. Will come back to write a full review

William Montclair comes to London with his brother to expand his family's shipping business. he's not into shipping like his brother but he meets a lawyer looking for a steward for the Carlyle estate. Philippa Kirkpatrick is the duchess of Carlyle's step granddaughter. William has his own reasons for becoming Carlyle's steward which he finds out that the estate needs a lot of work and the duke is not all there 0and is being ran by the duchess his mother until all the heirs can be found. A accident leaves the duke this way. 0No one knows how bad the duke is because the duchess and Phillippa keep it hidden. Will and Philippa became close and fall for each other. She also realizes she may know why William came there she drags it out of him, This book is really good

All the Duke I need is the third book in the Desperately Seeking Duke series. I have not read the first two of the series, but this book was easily read as a stand alone. Now, I want to go back and read the first two. (I actually purchased the first today). I am new to Caroline Linden and I loved her writing style. I was very much thrilled with the book and definitely highly recommend!
I loved the prologue of the beginning of the book, it tells a story of the Dutchess and Phillipa how they first met. The story was very sweet and it gave inside to their grandmother/granddaughter relationship. Phillipa, one of the main characters is very protective of the Carlyle Castle and the duchess' family and people. Phillipa lives in the castle, she manages the estate, as the current Duke has been ill for almost 30 years.
William Montclair, an American, is hired on as an estate manager after being so tired of working for his family's shipping business. He is very handsome and Phillipa thinks he looks like a pirate. He is very brazen, hardworking, he soon discovers nothing has been updated in 30 years at the estate. They have done the bare minimum to get by. Will is dedicated to repairing the estate and bringing it up to be more modern. Will and Phillipa attraction grows with them working on the estate together.
There are several twists to the story, which I enjoyed. I loved this troupe, I have never read steward-heiress romance before, it was refreshing to see something different. I highly recommend this book!
Thank you Avon and#NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!

This delightful story is the third in a trilogy about the search for the rightful heir to a duke. The current Duke of Carlyle has been ill for thirty years following an accident. To keep the title in the family, his situation has been closely guarded and his mother has been secretly managing the dukedom since he was incapacitated. The estate manager who assisted the duchess retired due to age and ill health, and after several years of urging from her solicitor (Mr. Edwards) and her step-granddaughter (Phillipa), a new steward has finally been hired (William Montclair). Will is an American in London family business, working with his brother Jack to expand their shipping business and open an office in England. Will is not that interested in the shipping business, and by coincidence, meets Mr. Edwards, learns that he is looking for a new steward for the Carlyle estate, and gets hired.
Will has his own reasons for pursuing the position, but once at the estate, is strongly committed to doing what’s right to improve it and bring it in line with more modern practices. Although he is in conflict with the duchess right from the beginning, his relationship with Phillipa grows as they spend time together addressing estate issues.
Will and Phillipa are intelligent and likeable; it’s easy to understand their mutual attraction. There are some interesting twists to the story—some harder to guess than others—before the two of them get their HEA, healing a family split in the process. Like all of Caroline Linden’s books, this is well written and plotted with entertaining dialogue. My only complaint is that I wish that the epilogue was not so short and include the details of what caused the estrangement.
Thanks to #NetGalley and Avon for an advance copy to review.

**Received copy for review.**
This book was like walking through molasses. It moved so slowly and made it hard to stay interested in the story.
It just didn’t work for me.
