Loved this Robin Hood inspired story! I have never read a book by this author before but I thought she did a great job telling this story and it made me want to read other books by her. I loved how the story was set during the Regency time period and how the band of thieves came together. I thought this was a fun story and very well written. It is one that I will read again.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

This is a different take on the Robin Hood/Maid Marian story. I appreciated that this book looked at how they met and who they were before knowing each other. It also shows how his merry band might have come together. The part I didn’t find so believable was that Marian, despite being disillusioned with society life, would immediately want to embrace a dark path.

I enjoyed Robin and Marian’s interactions. I felt the author got Robin right. I could feel the chemistry between him and Marian and it was fun watching them deal with their feelings for each other.

I enjoyed this retelling of Robin Hood. Thank you to Covenant Communications for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved this retelling of Robin Hood. Marian is spunky, Robin is dashing and the adventure is fulfilling. This story was an absolute delight. It stayed true to the story with delightful little treasures that were hidden in the pages.

I found each of these characters a little headstrong, but that is what makes it so wonderful. This was a delightful Regency that was enough different to stand out from the other offerings out there.

Marian is a lady with a social conscience. She can see the plight of others and wants to help. Her methods are a bit ill-advised, but she is such a breath of fresh air. Robin is an elusive Earl. He hides his true ideals behind a façade. His interest in her brings him out in the open as he escorts his sister about town.

There is a true thief that is using Robin's activities to cover his tracks and the copy cat is resorting to murders to cover his trail. The danger builds as they try to draw out the copy cat who is attacking people who don't "deserve" it as Robin's targets do. With Robin and Marian, there is always a sense of duty to the less fortunate which allows the reader to overlook some criminal tendencies. Marian has at her side her cousin Will who joins their little band.

The author does a wonderful job with the story, the suspense, and the timing. The characters are true to the story we know and this story as well. There is familiarity and freshness in this beautiful story.

This tale was a delightful contribution and first Regency by Dana LeCheminant. I look forward to further Regency romances from her.

I received an early copy through the publisher on NetGalley and this is my honest review.

If I'm being honest, sometimes I have a hard time with re-tellings and I can't really say why. But not this time. I lovey loved this book and it's characters.

Marian and Robin are two interesting and fun characters with such personality! It was oozing right out of the pages and into my heart and head. This story created a fantastic movie in my head and I love when that happens. There was danger, adventure, mystery and growing tension throughout the book. It led to quite the exciting ending!

Content: mild peril, mild violence. Kissing.

This was such a fun retelling of Robin Hood! I loved the characters and their interactions. It was a quick read. Rob was probably the most developed character but I still enjoyed them all. I did want a few more adventures but it definitely wasn’t boring. Definitely add it to your list if you want a quick enjoyable book.

I love a good fairy tale telling and this one was perfect. Robin was ever much the robber of the rich to help the poor all the while being elusive and quite swoon worthy.
I loved how sassy Marian was and did what she wanted. The relationship they shared blossomed and perfect. The suspense kept me reading and not stopping until the very end. The ending was perfect and I admit I was worried it wasn't going to end well.
Dana did an awesome job with this retelling and I hope she does more.
I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for a review. Thank you Dana, NetGalley and Covenant publishing.

#BookReview: THIEF AND THE NOBLE by Dana LeCheminant

This is my first time reading a Robin Hood retelling. It was a really fun read. The witty conversations and fast paced turn of events kept me turning page after page.

I enjoyed Robin and Marian’s characters. They were both charming. They also desperately wanted to help those in need and make a difference in their lives, thus the theft. I knew it’s a retelling but I couldn’t help thinking that they could do something else without stealing. I didn’t feel like the end justifies the means. It was dangerous and risky as well.

If you enjoy enemies to lovers romance, mystery and a little suspense, this one’s for you.

This was so refreshing and entertaining!

I don't think I've ever read a Robin Hood inspired story and this was a lovely surprise.
It's the story of Marian, an 18 year old who wants to save the world and help the poor. Finding out about a thief that stoles from the rich she is very intrigued and wants to be part of the adventure. Robin is a charming, mysterious, earl by day, and the wicked thief by night, so they come together wonderfully, both in their characters by night and by day.

They are wonderful, Robin especially with his secretive ways and fantastic smiles and expressions. The other supporting characters are equally nice addition to the story. But what I loved the most were the witty dialogues between Marian and Rob, how playful and appreciative they both were towards one another. Their banter was what kept me glued to the pages and I love a book with this effect.

I received a copy of this in order to offer my honest review.

I binge read this book all in one weekend because it is THAT good. I could not put it down.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lady Marion wants to be able to help those that are less fortunate, so why not do it by becoming a thief.
Enter Robin Loxley, who is practically a regency era Robin Hood. He teaches Marion the art of being a thief.
Their late nights include a mystery thief, lock picking, and a bit of flirting.
This novel has romance, mystery and a bit of suspense. I most definitely suggest everyone gets a copy of this book! You won’t regret it.

This book is a lovely Robin Hood retelling during the Regency time period which added some fun variation to the story.

Robin and Marian are so perfect together. Marian is stubborn and kind hearted and exasperating. Robin is such a good man and has such a strong desire to be a protector.

It was so fun to see the crew come together and to solve the mystery of who the bad guy was (there were several possibilities).

It was so fun to read and I would happily recommend it!

Cute fun read!
I’m not super familiar with Robin Hood except the general idea-steal from the rich, give to the poor. I honestly didn’t know how Marian played a part in it all. So it was fun seeing like this, through these characters. I LOVED the meet cute in the tavern and then their conversation at the dance. Also thoroughly enjoyed her trying to prove Robin wrong with the ribbon :)

Dana LeCheminant quickly became one of my favorite contemporary romance authors, so when I saw she had a Regency book coming out I knew I had to read it. Let me just say I was NOT disappointed. I've never read a retelling of Robin Hood before, and found this one to be such a fun story. I was immediately drawn into the tale and it kept my interest for the entirety of the book.

Lord Robert Loxley, the elusive Earl (aka Robin or Rob) knows what it's like to be poor and have to scrounge for the necessities of life, so when he unexpectedly inherited the earldom he found a way to help the needy while teaching a lesson to those who are cruel and mistreat others. Everything seems to be going smoothly until he comes across Lady Marian Russell, who also wants to fight the imbalance between those who have more than they need and those who don't have enough. "Them rich folk deserve a little comeuppance every now and then," he had said. Marian wholeheartedly agreed.

I loved Robin and Marian--together and separately. They're both wonderful characters. Robin had never met anyone like Marian before and she certainly hadn't met anyone like Robin. He thought after her first adventure went sideways she'd had enough but no, our Lady Marian was determined and she was going to get her information with or without Robin's help. I loved all their banter and the swoony moments of near kisses. There were a couple of twists and turns to keep the reader's attention and I liked the mystery of the copycat thief, which for once I figured out.

4.5 stars rounded up for this Robin Hood retelling. If you enjoy historical romance and fairytale retellings I definitely recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher Covenant Communications via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I loved this new twist on Robin Hood. Lord Robert Loxley was a fun character. I loved the interaction between him and Lady Marian. John and Will were also great secondary characters. Overall a great book.

This is a fun, fast-paced Regency retelling of Robin Hood. Lord Robert Loxley, Earl of Huntingdon, is the Elusive Earl by day and a cunning thief by night who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. He targets those who mistreat members of the Ton or their servants. Lady Marian discovers his secret and demands that he let her help. At only 18 and as the daughter of a Marquess, Marian has seen through the trappings of high society and wants to help elevate the poor (she could just do this with her own wealth, but then it wouldn’t be a Robin Hood story). She follows Rob on his nighttime adventures with his trusted valet John; and her shy cousin Will is also soon part of the gang. They discover a copy-cat thief who is the true villain and must be stopped. I thought the story was well written, the romance was sweet and there was a lot of page-turning adventure. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Robin Hood or clean Regency romance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I have always had a thing for Robin Hood stories and this regency retelling did not disappoint! I loved all the references to people and places that were weaved into the story and of course, Robin and Marian's quest to make the world a better place. (Yes, there is theft. C'mon. This is a Robin Hood story...)

Marian is young and naive but headstrong and Robin is quite the flirty charmer. He is also confident and capable and like Marian, doesn't really care what society thinks of him. Lots of suspenseful adventure that made this book hard to put down and there were definitely a few plot twists I did not see coming. The last chapter read more like an epilogue and I loved, loved the romance between Robin and Marian. *sigh*

This was a great debut regency from this author and I am excited for more stories in this regency Robin Hood world. Highly entertaining story and definitely recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but a positive review was not required.

Absolutely fantastic! This book captured me from the first chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed Marian. Her goodness of character in wanting to help those outside of her class was so refreshing. Though a bit naive at times I loved how her and Robin...(the Earl) interacted. From their first meeting and how they grew together over a common cause was wonderful. The side characters, especially Will with his protective big brother nature was a favorite. LeCheminant did a great capturing the essence of Robin Hood in this tale and with my love of that roguish hero it truly is no wonder to me why I liked this so much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this read! I will definitely be coming back for more by LeCheminant in the future!

Yes, yes, yes!! This book was everything I was hoping it would be and more!! Sometimes retellings can get pretty cheesy and feel stretched to make the story fit. But this one flowed so well, you would think that the Robin Hood story came from the regency period.

Robert Loxley, Lord Huntingdon, is everything I love about Robin Hood. Suave, dashing, teasing, handsome, mischievous, and does whatever he could do to help the poor. And Lady Marian was everything I want to be. Determined, stubborn, brave, and willing to do what needs to be done to help others.

This is a phenomenal Regency debut by Dana. There were lots of unexpected twists and turns in this story. I thought it quite be predictable since it’s a Robin Hood retelling, but I was on the edge of my seat, not knowing what was going to happen, but wanting to find out. This was such a fun read, I couldn’t put it down!

Thanks to Netgalley, covenant communications, and wholesome romance for an advanced copy of this book. A positive review was not required. All thoughts and opinions are my own and unbiased.

The concept for this book was interesting and intriguing to me. I enjoy reading retellings of classic stories and while the author cleverly wove the original elements and characters from Robin Hood into this story, I just couldn’t really get into this particular version. I know this is fiction, but I just couldn’t completely love the characters while they were breaking the law and justifying it to meet their own reasons for doing so.

This is a story set in a time in history that its just understood, even if it wasn’t right, that there were several inequalities in society. The wealthy seemed to be above the law at times and women had so few rights and abilities that it was also a little frustrating to me how Marian acted. It is so unrealistic that these members of high society would risk not only their own reputations and fortunes but those of their families as well.. I just wish that there could’ve been other ways that they could’ve helped the poor and right the wrongs of society. Targeting one person for doing wrong, while doing wrong themselves, doesn’t make them any better- just choosing a different wrong.

I’ve always been a fan of the legend of Robin Hood and Dana did a nice job throwing her own spin on it! Regency style!

Robin Loxley, Earl of Huntingdon has spent 8 years trying to get used to his elevated status, and trying desperately hard to help those less fortunate, eventually becoming a thief that takes from the rich who are especially cruel to the poor. The Elusive Earl by day and skilled Thief by night.

Marian is young and innocent but sees the injustice that is being done around her. Why should only a small percentage be so wealthy? How do those less fortunate really live? So she embarks on a quest to find out, falling (quite literally) straight into the arms of Robin.

Rob and Marian have a fun relationship! The constant bickering and undeniable spark between them. Their nighttime escapades were entertaining. I laughed so much the night Marian went to help catch the mimic thief and showed Robin her fighting skills when he backed her up into the wall. Never underestimate a woman on a mission Rob! Especially one that you taught how to throw a punch lol

I liked how Dana gave the original story characters new life in this tale. Will Scarlett was always one of my favorites and I loved the Will Russell that she created for us! John, “Tuck”, Gisbourne, and Alana. It was fun to see a spin on the characters.

Overall I thought this was a really fun story and I think it’s awesome to see the author trying her hand at historical fiction! I look forward to more!
