This is the first in a new series by Colleen Coble and I can't wait to see where the other books take us!
I really enjoyed reading this suspenseful book! It's set in Rock Harbor - in Michigan's UP. Annie's story started when she was 9 and her younger sister, Laura, was abducted from their family dock while watching loons one night. She's spent the rest of her life trying to find Laura, and living with the guilt of being the one left.
The storyline here is one that kept me reading to see what happens next. The characters are like visiting with friends, if you've read the Rock Harbor series you'll find lots of old friends. There is a pretty substantial cliffhanger at the end, which hopefully will be resolved in the next story!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
Colleen Coble is an author that I run to when I hear that she is releasing a suspense novel and this one definitely did not disappoint. I love how throughout the books she disperses little clues that keep me turning the pages to find out what will happen.
Annie is the local sheriff and has an 8 year old daughter, Kylie. She became a sheriff because when she was a young girl she was a witness to her sister's kidnapping and disappearance. The other notable character was Jon who was an ex-boyfriend of Annie who comes back to town to help sell the family's cottage.
Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.
Reading Edge of Dusk was a great way to start off Colleen Coble's Annie Pederson series. I really enjoyed it and am giving it four and a half stars.
Annie is a law enforcement ranger and widow. She has a young daughter, Kylie. She is trying to run the Tremolo Resort and Marina in Rock Harbor left to her by her father as well as do her job and be a great mom. Jon Dustan, Annie's former love comes back to help his ailing father and fix up his cottage for sale. Together they get embroiled in the mystery that is occurring at the resort and in Annie's enforcement area.
I enjoyed this story and always read anything that shows up from Colleen Coble. She's a favorite author of mine.
I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest op
A Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble A religious romantic suspense novel that is first in the Annie Pedersen series. Quite a number of varied mysteries to solve. Not all are completely explained which led to a cliff hanger end. Annie and Jon are an engaging couple with past issues they need to overcome. Kylie is not enamored of Jon as a friend for her Mom. Interested in seeing where the series goes from here.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Edge of Dusk is a new series by Collen Coble. The setting is Rock Harbor where Annie Pederson lives with Kylie, her eight-year-old daughter. Annie's husband died in a suspicious boating mishap.
Her sister had been kidnapped when they were just children while sitting on the dock watching the loons after bedtime. Annie has continued to search for any clues to the fate of Laura and does not give up hope of finding her or her remains. Annie is a law enforcement officer, and she also manages the Tremolo Resort and Marina she inherited when her parents died. She remembers her father as being a harsh person and hard to please, but her mother was kind.
Annie needs to make repairs to some of the cabins before vacation season starts but soon finds herself deep in solving not just one murder, but several. As she investigates the murders, there are some strange happenings around the resort. Is Jon involved in any of the cases?
I enjoyed the book and always appreciate clean mysteries with a sense of strong family values by Colleen Cobble. I did think Annie's daughter acted younger than eight years old. Also, Jon, having to run to Annie's rescue three times was a bit much. Annie is strong-willed and maybe she can rescue him the next time around.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Colleen Coble for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Welcome back to Michigan's Upper Peninsula town of Rock Harbor. A Edge of Dusk has us meet Annie Pederson, a friend of Bree and Kade's and works a ranger.
Annie has had a hard life of a sister kidnapped while swimming with her and is a young widow as her husband drowned with her parents. Backpackers are being killed and kidnapped and two bodies from a cold case are found in a cabin that Annie owns. Her ex boyfriend Jon has come back to town and people are looking at him as a suspect, but his goal is to keep Annie and her daughter safe. Together they try to find the truth of who the murderer is.
Colleen Coble is the best in Christian suspense. She writes a story that keeps the reader guessing while interweaving a faith element that isn't pushy, but also not obsolete. A Edge of Darkness had a couple of storylines not fully settled and I look forward to the rest in the series.
I was given a complimentary copy of A Edge of Dusk, but all opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed "Edge of Dusk" by Colleen Coble was an edge of your seat read! This book had me guessing all the way through, and I had no idea how it was going to end! This is the first book in the Annie Pedersen series. I liked how some characters from the Rock Harbor series also appear in this book. Colleen Coble always does such a great job with the suspense. I highly recommend this book and all of Colleen Coble's books. They are good, clean, suspenseful reads!
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
A edge of Dusk is a well written romantic suspense. I loved the plot and the Rock Harbor setting. It was nice revisiting characters from the Rock Harbor series. Ms. Coble never fails to deliver a good book. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Coble is a master at writing engaging romantic suspense novels, and this one is no exception. Well-crafted characters and a mystery that keeps you guessing will quickly pull the reader in. This book is a strong way to start off what looks to be an engaging series.
This is a religious romantic suspense book This story grabbed me from the start and I read it in one day. The ending left me hanging and I can’t wait till the next book comes out. I want to know more about Annie
I was excited to learn this Annie Pederson novel takes place in Rock Harbor. I was absolutely delighted to reconnect with what feels like some old friends. Bree was always a favorite and happy she’s still around and married to Kade.
This captivating story begins with describing an incident 24 years earlier than the main story. Sisters Annie, age 9 and Laura, age 5, without their parents’ knowledge are outside in the dark on a dock in Lake Superior. A canoe rows up, Laura is snatched, and Annie is pulled into the water. Although Annie survives, she never sees her sister again.
Twenty-four years later, Annie Pederson is a Law Enforcement Ranger, a widow, and the mother of 8-year-old Kylie. Since the death of her husband and parents, she runs the Tremolo Marina and Cabin Resort with the assistance of summer help, while keeping up with her duties in law enforcement. It proves to be a busy summer with a missing person, the discovery of human remains, a fire, some strange things happening around her house and an unexpected diagnosis for Kylie, as well as her own life in danger.
While in town, Annie happens to glance across the street and notices a man getting out of a car who looks familiar. She realizes it is Jon Dunstan, her high school boyfriend and former fiancé. What a shock to see him again after 9 years when he went off to complete a residency at the Mayo Clinic and they broke up before he left. Jon is in town to renovate a cabin his family owns, sell it, and most likely never return. The renovation of the cabin brings an unexpected discovery that could possibly cause the end of Jon’s lucrative career as an Orthopedic Surgeon.
This captivating story is a riveting account of some very scheming and unscrupulous people and circumstances. The book kept me up too late at night, on the edge of my seat, and turning the pages as quickly as possible. I loved everything about it! I’ve never read a book by Colleen Coble I didn’t love!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Wonderful!!!!
It’s been over twenty years since Annie’s sister was kidnapped. Now a ranger, she is trying to put her life together for she and her young daughter. Throw in an old flame and other characters and you have yourself the perfect mix of suspense and romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I went to work blurry eyed the day after reading this because I couldn't put it down to go to sleep. This book is fantastic and apparently it is the first in a series. Annie and Jon belong together but I'm not sure if they can work it out with so many forces pushing against them. I have some hypothesis but I will have to wait until the next book to see if I am right.
"A Edge of Dusk" is a romantic suspense novel. It's the first in a series, and some issues brought up in this book haven't been wrapped up and so probably carry into the next book. One of these issues was the nanny. Annie was understandably super-protective of her daughter. She hired a woman that she didn't know with barely a work-history check, then entrusted her daughter to her. I'm just thinking: it'd make more sense for Annie to have the woman do the painting and Annie watch her kid. It's just a little odd considering the context, and why didn't Jon pass on the clues that would have prompted her to look more closely at the nanny? He tended to be slow to realize that certain things would be helpful for Annie to know.
Anyway, there were a number of mysteries to solve: the past disappearance of Annie's sister, a cold case of two missing women whose bodies turned up in one of Annie's unused cabins, and young men who were camping alone being attacked and killed. Annie and Jon investigated, following up on new leads on the cold case where Jon was a suspect. Annie asked good questions. As they spent time together, they were able to clear up some conflict which had caused them to split up years ago. The suspense came from the danger to others from the serial killer(s) and to them because whodunit didn't want them investigating.
The Christian message was trusting God. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.
