*Working It Out* by Jo Platt follows protagonist Edie as she navigates new friendships, unexpected romance, and career changes after a breakup. Set in a cozy, lighthearted world, the novel combines gentle humor and relatable challenges in Edie’s journey toward self-discovery. With charming characters and an easygoing plot, it’s an enjoyable, undemanding read for fans of contemporary romance.
A fun sweet read! Highly recommend.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC.
I wanted to love this book, but saddly I didn't. It was just a okay book. I wish I can write a little more but it was just an average read.
3 star for me.
This was a really good about finding a lost love that got away. I really enjoyed the character and world building and will be reading more of Platt in the future.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. A lighthearted, feel good read with some relatable laugh out loud moments. A great beach read or a book when you want a break from some of the grittier darker reads that tends to be 70% of my usual reading. ⭐⭐⭐ #netgalley #joplatt #goodreads #litsy #thestoryapp #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookqueen #bookstagram #chicklit
This book didn't always work for me. I felt it wasn't very well written, and needed another edit before being even sent as an ARC. It felt rushed and not well developed, especially for the ending.
[Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]

Loved reading every bit of this book and how so much of it is filled with heart and humour :) The protagonist is endearing and oh-so-relatable - I loved that the storyline was fast and moved at a great pace! Pick this up if you are looking for a light and breezy read <3
I enjoyed this book, but do have some mixed feelings about it. While it’s partially categorized as a romance, I would just call it women’s fiction. The romance really doesn’t begin until more than 80% of the way through the book and even then, there’s not much of it. The writing is good, but so much of the story happens because of a misunderstanding/lie told to the main character. I wish the pacing had been a bit different, with the main character finding out the truth earlier on and more of her and the love interest getting to know each other.
I like that the main character is extremely likeable, even though she acts under misconceptions for a good portion of the book. The cast of characters was fun, and the villain was suitably unlikeable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for providing me access to this eARC for my honest opinion!
A contemporary romance set in the workplace, I just love how Jo writes characters with quirky and distinct personalities that makes her books so enjoyable. The development of romance between Edie, our main character, and Cameron, the love interest, was very organic and palpable.
Overall, this is a light, feel good romance novel and another stellar book from Jo Platt that I would recommend!
Two years ago Edie found out her long term partner was cheating on her with everything that moved so she dumps his arse and to cope with the fallout buries herself in her job. Now her work wife Ruby is leaving for pastures new and new boy Cameron is taking her place so Edie is more than a little unsettled when she hears reports of her new workmates less than stellar reputation. I liked this a lot. It was like Pride and Prejudice in an architects office. The romance is a bit of a slow burn and is mostly left up to the last third of the book and has the most British confession of love ever, it was glorious and sweet and lovely and funny.
The story focus on Edie and people around her. She is an architect and have close relationship with her colleague except for one, Cameron. The story continue with the lies that Ruby told her which affect her opinion on Cameron and her subsequent boycott of him.
The story remind me of I don’t friend you, you don’t friend me kind of situation. Edie come across as one who easily take in people’s opinion and uphold it as her own. She doesn’t seem to be a person who have her own thought. Despite that, the characters are lovable although I find some situations in the story make me feel awkward.
It is a good read for me although the story grow on me at a much later part. Love how the author created and develop the characters.
I found it difficult to get into this book and to really enjoy the writing as it was a little slow-paced but once you get into the book it's an interesting read.
This is my second book by Jo Platt, and I have to add that the first one even with the anguish it gave me between misunderstandings and unclear conversations is was a good reading but this one leaves the essential out
.
In this book it was difficult for me to keep the thread of the love story, I felt that it was more a story of growing up, finding one's own path and seeing others clearly
.
The book follows the point of view of Edie, a young architect who becomes a bit disoriented after losing her co-worker who is also her best friend and who keeps her up to date with everything that happens in the office and gives opinions almost getting into her life. Losing her company, Edie begins to see the world through her own eyes and realizes that everything she knew could be misunderstood, including her old relationships and her co-workers, including the new one architect ,the reserved serious Cameron
.
I really liked the last chapters because they seemed to have a faster dynamic and I liked how the relationship developed but it still leaves you wanting to keep reading more about them. It's has great characters and funny situation but is more a contemporary Fiction than a romance for me
.
Thanks to Jo Platt and Canelo for give me this great book in exchange for my honest opinion
Despite knowing that this writer's style is a little slower, more focused on the female protagonist's overcoming and self-discoveries, I missed a little more kisses. On the other hand, the final chapters won my heart and the last one was sensational. I loved it!
This was a really interesting read! Following Edith, a young architect living in Bristol, the reader joins as she navigates messy relationships, workplace politics, and neighborly drama!
I quite enjoyed this book although I did find it a bit slow. The main two characters are pleasant as are several of the others, I just felt like giving the story a bit of a shake to get going! An unlikely office romance story with the usual dramas until the pair get together, overall quite good but not great.
Thank you Netgalley for the read x
Such a great romance novel showing love is still in the air, even at the stuffiest of offices! I loved the main characters and their interaction, plus the relationship between the female lead and her best friend.
WORKING IT OUT by JO PLATT.
This was a pleasant read, but I did struggle to get into the story and to stick with it.
This is essentially Edie’s journey to find herself. She makes some huge mistakes along the way, and trusts all the wrong people.
There are some lovely friendships in the book and I did enjoy the parts of the story about Edie’s home life with her cousin.
The romance side of the story was a painfully slow burn.
Over all this is an enjoable, fun read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
With thanks to #Netgalley and Canelo for a digital arc of this book in return for an honest review.
Wow! I was not expecting that, there are a lot of twists and turns in this book and I am usually really good at seeing them but not this time. I love the story and the characters throughout, however, the ending did feel a little rushed and confusing, would have liked a little more time with it!
