Wow, this book was exactly what I needed in this season of life, this middle that I've been trudging thru. Even tho our stories are different, Jordan gave my hope and spoke into all the uncertainty in my life and it was just so awe inspiring to hear her words and know I'm not alone in this feeling and that it's not over yet

I have a hard time getting into her books. I tried her first book and it just didn't do it for me. The covers are always pretty though.

As a follower of Jordan since high school and her soulscripts brand, I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Jordan’s writing style comes across as someone sitting down with you in your living room just having a friendly chat. I appreciate the way she weaves stories from her life into the context of the book and also grapples with the reality of the “almost”. I also read the predecessor to this book and have to say I’d gift both to family or friends,

Another amazing book by JLD. My heart needed this pep talk, especially after the last few years. The book was inspirational and will speak to a reader who’s trying to maintain an optimistic outlook.

This book was not for me. I wish it was more obvious before reading this that it was a Christian based book. The advice was good and the sentiment was good but there was just a little too much religion for my liking.

I have no idea why I waited so long to read this book. As someone currently living in a season of waiting, so many of Jordan’s beautiful words resonated with me and the reality I’ve been living over the last couple of years. It provided me comfort and encouragement, and I think anyone who is going through a season of almosts and in-betweens can relate to the messages Jordan articulates so beautifully here.

- [ ] Jordan Lee Dooley discusses how to cope when things go almost as planned. She gives several examples from low stakes things like gardening and work projects to high stakes situations like health and pregnancy loss. Dooley talks directly to the reader, often asking, “has this ever happened to you?” Some practical advice is given, but mostly the answers presented are to pray and recognize your priority. Dooley notes in the final chapter that she wanted this book to end differently, more of a redemptive happy ending, but another loss required her to rewrite. The rewrite shows; the writing seems disconnected. In one chapter, a nondescript work project is used as an example, and then suddenly gardening is the metaphor, and then loss, and then singleness amongst married friends. It’s as if she is trying to appeal to readers in multiple differing seasons of life, but actually it comes across as confused and unfocused. Also, details are shared sparingly, sometimes intentionally as Dooley recognizes pregnancy loss can be triggering, but a “work project” is mentioned several times that may have benefited from even a bit more detail for readers to be able to relate. Ultimately, the idea behind this book and the overall message are worth reading, but more editing and more concise examples would have made it better.

This is a book I was searching for!

Embrace Your Almost was unique in it addressed many things I was trying to work for. As someone learning and trying to improve in many facets of life (trying to be a good human), it can be really hard to fail in the venture of trying. This book highlighted those feelings and how to fix them or manage as best as possible. Extremely reassuring, interesting, and something I will return to for sure.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book seriously was game changer for me. It helped me to realize I am not alone in all of my questions and fears about waiting and ALMOST seeing that dream come to fruition. Jordan really spoke to my heart with this one. Excited to share this book with ALL of my friends!!! It's a must read for sure!

I have enjoyed listening to Jordan's podcast for a while now and was excited to read her new book. I do not really resonate with the religious themes that she has on either platform. I was ultimately disappointed in this effort because it seemed repetitive.

A simple but inspiring and refreshing read. While I didn’t gain anything necessarily groundbreaking, it was a thoughtful reminder to make the most of where you are instead of wishing to be somewhere, or someone, else. I love Jordan Lee Dooley’s prose, she communicates both graciously and effectively and I ended up reading this in one or two sittings.

This book was everything I needed! I’m a huge Jordan Lee fan and i loved her second book even more than her first. It’s perfect for anyone in their season of waiting. It’s so tough when you’re going through this, but she is relatable and makes you feel less alone.

This book is perfect for the woman who is going through a difficult time or just struggling to figure out why you aren't at your goals yet. It helps you be your best while you wait and know you are still enough.

Thank you WaterBrook Press and NetGalley for the ARC! For the current season that I'm walking through, this book spoke right to core of some of my unknowns, Jordan Lee Dooley has a gift of being able to speak to you like you are too old friends just swapping stories. I loved every bit of this book! As a person struggling through a season of change and feelings of "not yet but almost," this book spoke to me. Whether you find yourself constantly seeking after the next big thing in life, whether that's a promotion, upgrading your relationship status, becoming a parent, or simply wanting to feel settled, this book will find you where you are, She shared stories of her struggle with failed business endeavors, miscarriages, and trying to find her "calling". As a fellow believer and woman on mission, I loved her candidness in sharing her faith but also her struggle amidst these seasons of "almost". It was a quick read but definitely a helpful one for where I am now mentally and spiritually.

This book is adorable and so positive but not the type of book that's too positive in your face. I like the up and downs, also the theme of "Embracing Our Almost" rather than forcing ourselves to push forward when there's a deadend. It's put a hope in me who've through some heavy time when I read this. I feel the advices are doable for me. so thank you for sharing your story and experience with us!

This book was a great reminder of how not to give up but also to know your limits and when to start something new. While I enjoyed the author's stories and inner thoughts, I wasn't expecting the religious aspects. I still would recommend this to anyone who's experienced a setback or looking for direction, as it provides a lot of great advice and reassurance in trying something new!

This book is more than just self help. It deals with themes that point and lead to God's direction and instruction. Very well written!
