Not quite what I was expecting and a bit disappointed. I wish their had been more time with the couple instead they were with other people most of the time and I never really felt like their love story got to develop.

You’re probably thinking that if you have read one fake dating relationship trope, you’ve read them all. Let’s face it, this is a common plot device in many romance novels and some are definitely better than others. This is one of the better ones. Can you imagine anything worse than finally making it home after a Thanksgiving holiday with your family, you’re tired, the trip was long and the last thing you want is to make chit chat with anyone. You want to get yourself and your suitcases up to your apartment where you can shower, unpack and relax. Instead, the elevator doesn’t cooperate and you find yourself stuck inside with your very attractive and sexy neighbor. With nothing but several hours of waiting to be rescued ahead of them, Hannah opens up the cookie tin and bottle of wine and begins to get to know her neighbor, Gage.

This story was very charming. Being trapped in an elevator doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, but it gives Hannah and Gage the opportunity to get to know one another better and they learn a lot about each other’s lives and families. Hannah is skipping spending Christmas with her family because she is working hard on a presentation that will hopefully win her the promotion she has been vying for. She feels inadequate around her family because her sisters are both doctors and she works in interior design. Gage is dreading spending Christmas with his family because of their relentless matchmaking. Over a bottle of wine and several delicious Christmas cookies, he suggests that they pretend date to get his family off his back.

It becomes obvious very quickly that neither one of them can keep up the charade and the line between keeping up appearances and falling in love gets more difficult to see. I really liked Hannah and Gage and thought they had the perfect chemistry and enjoyed seeing it all unfold.

In all honesty, I didn’t have a lot of anticipation about reading this book because of the fake dating relationship trope. This is my second least favorite plot device after adultery because I feel relationships are hard work already and starting a relationship with a lie for any reason just doesn’t sit well with me. This story, however, flipped me on my head because the fake relationship was never fake and nobody was lied to as Gage falls hard for Hannah and has to figure out how to convince her that she feels the same way and Christmas is the most magical time of the year and miracles are all around them.

The author does an amazing job of giving us characters that are likable and easy to relate to. The story is well paced and despite my initial reservations, I quickly became immersed in the story, the characters and the location where Gage grew up.

My Final Verdict: Overall, this charming story would be an excellent choice for readers who crave Christmas themes during the holiday season as I do. This story will make you smile and feel all the feels. Grab those Christmas cookies and a glass of spiced wine, eggnog or cider and snuggle down in front of the fireplace with this book for several hours of Christmas cheer happiness.

A meet cute moment that will have you take a chance to find the spirit of Christmas. A fake relationship during the holidays turned into something so much more.

This wasn't for me. The characters didn't seem like real adults. The whole thing felt fake. No chemistry. I don't know why its so highly rated?

This book didn't hold my interest, as I found the main character to be annoying. I don't enjoy characters who don't like 'rich people' and are full of judgement. It's a huge turn off for me as a reader. I'd prefer an author (when they're writing romance,) to at least spend time writing a character I think they like writing.

This book was such a fun read around the holidays. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job with the characters’ voices and expression of emotion. Hannah and Gage were like-able and I was rooting for their relationship. I didn’t want to stop listening to this book! I enjoy all that I have read by author Samantha Chase.

Samantha Chase’s His for the Holidays was a quick, no angst, small town Christmas romance filled with love, family and humor. Gage and Hannah’s story starts off with a meet cute in the elevator where they get to know each other and chemistry sparks between the two. They embark on a fake relationship to not face their respective families during the holidays.

This story was so cute and I loved Gage and Hannah’s characters. These characters were believable and their connection was intense. I was complete invested in their story and the narrator really brought this story and characters to life.

Thank you to Samantha Chase, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the advanced Listeners copy of His for The Holidays. My thoughts and opinions are my own and done voluntarily.

This was such a cute and cuddly Christmas romance. I was struggling with the Christmas spirit this year and this one helped a bit. I loved that it started with two strangers getting stuck in an elevator and striking a deal...for you guessed it a fake relationship for Christmas. fake dating tropes may be predictable but in a Christmas story it is super adorable. because we all know what will happen in a hallmark type book. But I love Samantha Chase and her writing style. I have read many of her books and cant get enough. The characters were adorable. Hannah Christy was spunky, outgoing, and driven, and Gage was a strong hunky man who didn't want to fall for his neighbor, but he fell first, and it was adorable and sweet.

cute little Christmas read to put you in the spirit. Samantha chase doesn't disappoint

His for the Holidays is such a fun story, perfect for relaxing in your favorite chair before the holiday crazy or even after as you rest up for New Year's. Gage and Hannah are likable characters both together and separately, and I absolutely loved Gage's family, particularly his mother. They meet in the elevator in their building, which of course, sparks the attraction, and a combination of circumstances leads to a fake relationship for the holidays. I'll leave the rest for you to find out yourself (no spoilers here) but suffice it to say that the whole book is full of feel-good holiday vibes. We do get a wee bit of angst, but it's just right for the tone of the book, and it isn't at all over the top. Elizabeth Cottle narrates this one, and she keeps the energetic feel of the story all the way through. To the best of my recollection, this is my first time for both author and narrator, and I thoroughly enjoyed both.

Hannah and Gage's story is a great holiday read. This is a light romance that will bring a smile to your face. Hannah tried so hard to keep Gage at a distance, but these two were meant for each other. My heart ached for Gage as Hannah tried to stick with their original pretend romance when they were both gone for each other. This was a great holiday romance and definitely got me in the holiday spirit.

The narrator did a great job bringing this story to life. She voiced both Hannah and Gage well and I enjoyed the narration.

This was a cute holiday, forced proximity/fake relationship read. You get all the Hallmark movie vibes from this one, with great chemistry and laugh out loud banter between Gage and Hannah. I really enjoyed this cute read.
Elizabeth Cottle did a good job with the narration.

I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange of an honest review.

This is a sweet romance with a little spice. I loved his family! They we're fun to be around and watch them fall for each other. I think the ending was a little too lucky in how she handled her job but I'd like to live in a world where that worked.

His For The Holidays is a heartwarming feel-good story perfect for the holidays. Hannah and Gage meet when they are stuck in a stalled elevator. To bide their time, they tell each other secrets they haven’t shared with anyone else, over wine and cookies. Gage’s mom is always trying to set him up so he decides to ask Hannah to be his fake girlfriend so that he can enjoy the holidays without his mom trying to find him a date. She says no at first but then reluctantly agrees. As soon as they arrive, his mom is in crisis mode and Hannah steps in and saves the day, enduring her to everyone. It’s obvious from the beginning that Gage is smitten but Hannah seems more reluctant. Gage was definitely my favorite character. The male character being the one really wants the relationship is rare and is refreshing to see. I listened to the audiobook version and really enjoyed it.

I love a good fake dating book! Gage and Hannah find themselves trapped in their apartment’s elevator soon after Thanksgiving. While trapped for hours in the elevator they end up bonding, consuming Christmas cookies and wine, and formulating a plan for Gage to have a fake girlfriend for Christmas at his mother’s competitive retirement home. When Hannah is denied an big promotion at work, she finds herself with a consolatory paid vacation and accepts the role as Gage’s fake girlfriend. The more time they spend to together the more sparks begin to fly, and soon they may no longer be faking. This is a great Christmas book with a happy ending and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book!
