This book will be perfect for someone and some educators will love it! I wish I was one of them.
It is not a book for me or my students. The illustration is magical! Stunning and I would definitely put it in my class library for my kids to look at. I just would not work it into my group time reading time. I was missing something from it, I had high hopes for this book based on the description. It doesn't help kids navigate boredom which is what I was hoping for especially with kids during covid that doesn't always have access to friends or other kids.
This is an adorable story with fun illustrations focusing on boredom. Every kid and adult knows the struggle that comes with being bored! This will be sure to get some giggles out of bored little ones.
This was a cute book. I am definitely the friend that says "you like cards, so we will play cards" even if you don't feel like it. I love how the friends all come together to find something fun to do. Even as an adult sometimes it is hard to get out a rut, this book is a reminder that it is possible.
Badger is Bored by Moritz Petz is a fun illustrated children's book about badger and his friends. Badger is bored and doesn’t feel like doing anything. His friends - Fox, Squirrel, Blackbird, and Rabbit - feel the same way. They engage in numerous different activities, but nothing seems to work. Until Mouse comes over wearing an eye patch. Badger and his friends decide to pretend they are pirates and they are no longer bored.
Amélie Jackowski's illustrations are beautiful and very colorful. The book is full of little details to discover.
The whimsical and adorable story will give children a list of things to do when bored. Such a fun read!
Thank you to the North South Books and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this cute book. This is a great read together book about what to do when you are bored. I enjoyed the colorful illustrations and an adorable story. Looking forward to sharing it with children in my life.
Badger is bored and so are his friends. Whatever game or activity they engage in, ends up being dull and disapponing, even their favorite ones. Until... until somehting sparkles between them...
Though I found the story simplistic, I enjoyed the illustrations, especially the little details like the Hokusai Wave or the new curtains.
It is a good book to talk about one’s right to be bored and what friendship and imagination can do to save the day.
A very sweet and cute book with an important topic, but not really rememberable or standing out. The cover looked more promising.
Poor Badger is at wit’s end. He’s alone and bored, so he decides to paint a picture. But it just wasn’t fun the way it usually was. Fortunately, his friend Fox comes knocking on Badger’s door but when Badger answers the door, Fox asks Badger for help because he’s bored, too! Off they go to build a den for Fox but that wasn’t the right project either and they’re still bored. Fortunately, Squirrel arrives at Fox’s house but - oh no! Squirrel is also bored and has no idea what would be fun to do either! One by one, Raccoon, Rabbit, Blackbird and Deer also arrive in turn, all of them bored and looking for something fun to do, but nothing they try is quite right…until Mouse arrives and unwittingly saves the day by giving Badger and rest of the gang a wonderfully fun idea for a collaborative project they all enjoy.
This is the perfect book for young children who love stories about groups of friendly animal characters who enjoy doing crafts and playing games with their animal friends just as children enjoy the same activities with their own human child friends. The illustrations are detailed and so whimsical they will make any young child (or adult!) smile and the story will definitely evoke lots of giggles and smiles.
This book was super adorable! My son and I read this book together and he absolutely loved it. The illustrations were very well done and colorful, I loved the little story, helping little ones decide how to cure boredom which they tend to suffer from often lol. I definitely recommend this book.
“Badger is Bored” is an adorable book, immaculately illustrated, about how a group of animal friends fiend off boredom together.
The illustrations Amelie Jackowski has made are the absolute star of this book! They are lovely, wholesome and bright, making the reader feel more cheerful after reading.
Children will be left with a list full of ideas after having read this book by Moritz Petz- the perfect book to pull out when a child says they are bored!!
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth publishers for an advanced copy of this lovely picture book.
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth books for an e-ARC to read and review.
This story celebrates friendship and shows that with a great group of friends around, you can always come up with fun to do. I'm surprised that Badger's boredom persisted so long throughout the story, even as new friends and adventures would pop up. But the lively illustrations really make the book, and the fun ideas the crew came up with accentuated the nice read. I'd recommend it for the kid who always says they're bored but have all the tools to imagining a "boredom cure" on their own!
This was super cute and fun! I think this would be a great book to read to kids when they get bored, and I could totally see it inspiring them to make their own treasure maps and pirate ships to go on an adventure with. I found the illustrations to be really nice and reminded me of the books I used to read when I was little, which I loved!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for the ARC in exchange for a review!
The artwork in this is absolutely adorable! We follow young Badger as he tries to occupy himself and enlists his friends in the mission. A very cute story.
Thanks to Netgalley and NorthSouth Books for this wonderful ARC
Badger is BORED and so are Fox, Squirrel, Raccoon, and many more of their friends. Slowly they've managed to make it through all of their favorite activities, and yet they're all still very bored. Finally, Mouse pops in wearing an eye patch she has to keep on to protect her eye, and the next thing you know they are all playing pirate adventure. Someone makes the ship, someone makes the treasure map, someone makes the pirate flag, and on and on it goes... and now everyone is having a grand ole time.
This is an adorably fun story, with beautiful illustrations. And the really nifty part is your child will be filled with great ideas afterward to keep themselves from being bored!
Thank you Netgalley and Shyhook Press for this Arc.
The review and opinions are solely my own.
I thought this was so beautifully illustrated but that the story was a little clunky/repetitive (in not a charming way). Really wanted to love it!
Super cute this short story, I enjoyed reading it to my children. Badger is bored, but not for long, not with his friends.
This one is so cute! What to do when the kids are bored? Well, start with this book for one. Two, they will figure it out what to do next!
The illustrations are fun featuring different animals. The colours stand out which makes the story presentation quite cheerful.
For the cuteness sakes, choose this book.
Thank you, author/artist and the publisher, for the advance reading copy.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Badger is Bored is a cute story about Badger and his friends. All of them are bored and cannot find any fun or inspiration in their usual hobbies and games. Then mouse comes round with a patch on her eye and thus spurs the animals into a fun new adventure they can all play together using their skills and imagination.
This is so cute and great to gibe children ideas about what they can do when bored away from modern technology which too many children are drawn to today.
I loved the list at the end of the book of all the things the animals would do the next day too - it was a cute finishing touch.
This was such a cute read. It was very creative and will show children that they can venture outside of what they normally do because doing the same thing everyday can get boring. It also shows that friends can help them feel better and it’s fun to be imaginative together.
A cute, quick read for when kids are feeling bored, BORED, B O R E D. Full of lovely illustrations. Three stars because its fairly simplistic resolution felt like a missed opportunity.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!
