Badger IS Bored...YES and every child can relate to this feeling! Badger just can't find anything to do and he is incredibly bored until one by one his friends show up. (great for sequencing in stories)
First there's Fox who always thinks of something and loves to build stuff, but he IS bored. Then Squirrel comes over. Squirrel is bored, too. Racoon comes by because guess what....he IS bored, too. Blackbird and Rabbit are next and are also feeling bored and uninspired with this day. Mouse pops out last and inspires them all to create a pirate party because he has a patch covering an eye. The friends enjoy a fun day together and all is right in Badger's world.
This is a sweet picture book that children will find relatable. Teachers could most certainly use this in lessons on sequencing, friendship and perseverance.
3.5 - 4 Stars for me because it didn't bore me! The illustrations were great, too!
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
A cute and sweet book about a very Bored Badger. The story is simple and perfect for kids. I enjoyed the illustrations of the various animals. This makes for a quick and uplifting read for when you're in a need of a boost.
Badger is bored. He can't find one thing to do that interests him. His friends Fox, Squirrel, Blackbird, and Rabbit arrive at his house and they feel exactly the same way. Oh my, how will they ever get on with their day when there is nothing to do?
Enter little Mouse with a black patch over one eye! She sets the stage for a rollicking, exciting day where all the friends interact, use their imagines and play together. Their spirits are lifted as they dive into the world of make-believe and creativity. An extremely successful and stimulating play date ensues amongst the friends!
Complaining, grumpy Badger re-appears in this fun story that kids will certainly relate to. Boredom doesn't have to be .... well, boring. With a dose of ingenuity and thinking out-of-the-box, boredom can be dispelled and replaced with exciting fun adventures that will make boredom a distance memory. The humerous illustrations are adorable and detailed which I love. I highly recommend this book!
Cute!!
Can be used as a tool to teach children how to beat boredom themselves... without feeling like they're being judged or shamed.
Badger is Bored is a sweet little story about animal friends who find themselves with nothing to do. Even the things that normally excite them don't sound interesting, and that's okay. Each friend tries to help the other find something they like but it is just a plain old boring day, until... Mouse comes along and sparks the imaginations of his friends! Now the forest friends have a whole imaginary world in front of them and end up having the best day ever! That spark ignites even more ideas for the days to come. This was such a fun story filled with beautiful pictures, boredom buster ideas, and a theme of friendship.

Badger is Bored is a beautifully illustrated children's story about a badger who can't figure out how to get rid of his boredom on this particular day.
I enjoyed the collaboration between the animal friends, and it showed us the power of being with others and problem-solving.
It's adorable, and a fun read. Younger children would like this, and it'll be beneficial to discuss different feelings and what being bored means to them. It's also a great way to brainstorm new and exciting ideas.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is a very sweet book about boredom, friendship, and finding new things to do. The illustrations are all cute as can be, and the overall message is fun and useful too (particularly for harried parents dealing with bored kids, I'd imagine).
Badger is Bored is a fun children’s book with adorable illustrations featuring a whole crew of animals. It teaches readers about the importance of teamwork / sharing, being creative and having an imagination. It seems like a great addition for a child’s book collection or even a classroom’s library. I could see a teacher being able to it into their curriculum when teaching about students about friendship and using their imagination.
I will say that I think this is better suited as a printed book versus an electronic book though.
The premise of a book about how imagination can best even the worst of "I'm bored" days is a good one, but I didn't like that each of the friends was forced to do something they didn't want to, especially when they "usually liked doing that." Really didn't need to be that way and killed the fun of the ending of the story.
Badger is Bored by Moritz Petz is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about a Badger trying to cure his boredom with the help of his friends who are bored too.
The book’s visual is so charming and so well done! The story is cute as well. I love the characters and find them adorable. It’s a lovely book to read to young children and an excellent book to start a conversation and ask for suggestions on how to cure their boredom. It’s a happy and optimistic book I recommend reading!
Badger and his friends had tried many things but they were still bored until a mouse with an eye patch joined them.
The Illustration is mesmerazing. The animal shape might not be perfect but the colors are delightful. I love looking at it. I also like the small details that were drawn. "Badger is Bored" is a lovely picture book.
Thanks to NetGalley for a free advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Badger is in a funk today-- nothing is fun. Not even all of his favorite things. Turns out that all his friends are having a similar feeling today too. Luckily, that all changes when Mouse comes over!
The art in this book is so stinkin' cute. I loved the style and all the adorable little woodland creatures. It felt whimsical and happy while still very accessible to children. Could help children come up with creative ideas for what to do when they are bored.
Not one of my all-time favorite children's books, but definitely cute and fun. I know a lot of small children who would love this book
3.5 Stars
The title tells you the story. Badger is bored, and so are his friends. They try different activities, things they usually like. But on that day, no activity seems fun or interesting. Then comes a mouse, and the animals get an idea to have fun and drive away boredom.
Kids are sure to relate to the story. They tend to get restless when nothing keeps them engaged. While there isn’t much depth to the story, the illustrations are beautiful. The backgrounds are done in pastels, and even the overall color scheme is lovely and soft on the eyes. I only wish the text was bigger in size. The tiny text makes it hard to read when there’s enough blank space around.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and North South Books Inc. and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Badger is bored tells the tale of a bored badger, their bored friends, and the eventual adventures that they all seek. The illustrations of the different animals, especially on their imaginary adventures, were quite pretty and even whimsical, but the story wasn't quite as captivating. I can surely see parents who are tired of hearing "I'm bored!" try this with their kiddos.
This was very colorful with different animals. Al the details were fun to observe and catch. The ant with a load of pots and pans. Eye Candy. Suddenly an upturned table on it with a chair transports them all to a pirate ship. Fun adventure.
This was such a cute children’s book. Kids now a days can truly relate to “always being bored”. I loved how they turned their day around and had the best day with friends!
***** I received an ARC from NetGalley, the publisher and the author, in turn for my honest review.
I really liked this one! When I read it to my children, we talked about times when they've said that they are bored. It was wonderful to see Badger and his friends being kind to each other and working together to beat the boredom. I really enjoyed the inclusion and positivity. The illustrations were cute and crisp and colorful. I'd recommend this book to others!
Badger is Bored is a cute picture book about a group of animals who, between the six of them, struggle to find anything to do that isn't boring. The story goes through the animals trying out a series of activities they normally enjoy, but today they are all dissatisfying. When the animals start brainstorming, they are able to come up with a new idea that they are all able to enjoy together. A great story to inspire kids to be their own source of fun, instead of waiting for someone else to cure their boredom. The illustrations are adorable in mostly soft, muted colors with some bright splashes of red.
This adorable story of a bored badger demonstrates to children how to cure their own boredom as well as providing ideas for things to do that use their imaginations. The illustrations are sweet and cozy. Loved this one!
Really strong visually, this starts with a bored Badger, who cannot even get a lift from doing what he likes best, which, of course, is painting. Fox turns up and they do what Fox likes best, which leaves them both bored, and so on and so on through a whole woodland menagerie. Until just like that, a certain unexpected spark of inspiration comes along, and everyone is happy. So we not only see that boredom can be killed off just when we least expect, but that it helps us avoid it if we leave our comfort zone a bit. This smart, quick read will not leave anyone bored.
