This is another solid entry in the Rachel Morgan series. Full of romance, action, humor, and drama, Rachel faces off with a new (old?) foe.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's always fun to revisit Rachel and her team to see what trouble they are getting into, and this latest installment was no exception. There was less focus on the visiting master vamp, and more on her problems with Hodin, than the description implies, but that should not have been a surprise. The plots often veer in several unexpected directions.
I do wish Rachel would start to embrace her power, and standing, more instead of trying to escape it more, but overall really enjoyed this book- especially a couple happy bits at the end!
Rachel has a lot on her plate in the latest installment of Kim Harrison's The Hollows series. The demons are sliding back to their old ways, the vampires are sending yet another Undead to Cincy, and someone Rachel trusts is about to betray her...just another week in the Hollows!
In Trouble with the Cursed, Rachel once again faces opposition on all sides, and her hard-won allies are being stripped from her one by one. Good thing Rachel isn't afraid of a fight. There were some standout team-ups this time around, but I've got a soft spot for Rachel and Trent's brand of mass destruction! Great action scenes and heartwarming moments abound; this one is a rollercoaster emotionally and plot-wise. Each new adventure is an adrenaline shot of delight, and I'm so pleased Harrison has chosen to give us more of Rachel and the gang!
This series is worth the time commitment, so I would recommend starting from the beginning rather than reading this as a standalone. Otherwise, expect to get lost in all the action! At least it'll be a wild ride!
Another solid entry to the Hollows series. The world Harrison has created is a rich and vibrant as ever.
Strictly speaking, this isn't a 5 star book. It is, however, a significant improvement from the previous installment with the bonus of the most simultaneously horrifying and impossibly sweet ending I've experienced in my many years.
I was thrilled when Kim Harrison decided to take this series up again, and this installment is a really lovely addition. Solid worldbuilding, great characterization, and really fun plot developments. Add in Harrison's notoriously excellent writing and creativity, and this is a fantastic addition to an excellent series! Admittedly this one felt a bit world-buildy at times, but that just leaves me really curious as to where Harrison is going to take this series.
