thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc!

I wish I could give this more than five stars

this book was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it exceeded my expectations; it was so, so good. the nature of witches set a high standard, but wild is the witch met (maybe even surpassed) that. rachel griffin’s writing is absolutely amazing. her ability to create and describe the setting in her stories is astounding and her writing is so atmospheric, it’s like you’re actually inside of the book! I have a hard time picturing the setting in books while I’m reading, but it’s easy to when it’s rachel griffin’s writing.

wild is the witch follows iris, a witch, as she goes on a hunt with pike alder, the intern at her mother’s animal refuge, to find an owl that stole a curse that was never meant to get away from her to begin with. iris must find the owl and catch the curse, or else pike - and everyone in the surrounding area - will be in dire danger.

I loved everything about this book. the setting, the characters, the banter, the plotline, the magic system, everything. The setting was described extremely well; it was easy to picture and feel, and it was perfect. the main characters, iris and pike, were great. the relationship between iris and pike was very well-written, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. the plotline never got slow, and the book was very fast-paced. it was very entertaining, and something was always happening! on top of that, the magic system was really unique, and I really loved it. the enemies to lovers trope in this book was executed perfectly, and I would definitely recommend this book :)

I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to get an E-ARC of this book, and I was certainly not disappointed by it. Let me start off with saying that the vibes were absolutely immaculate. Within the first couple of pages I was completely drawn into the atmosphere of this book, and I wanted to cozy up and dive into the pages until I finished it.
You know how everyone has a weird thing they were obsessed with in middle school? Mine was owls, so 12 year old Sara was living for that aspect of this story. I fell so wholeheartedly into this book because I was so captivated by the magic Iris has to communicate with animals. She’s a much cooler version of Dr. Dolittle.
Oh and don’t get me started on the hate to love relationship with her and Pike. The way their chemistry built throughout the book was swoon worthy. I also enjoyed the little snippets we got or Iris’ mother and Sarah’s relationship.
I cannot wait for this book to officially come out to see what everyone else thinks of it.

I loved the vibes of the pacific northwest, combined with witchy-ness. The enemies to lovers storyline sucked me in. I stayed up all night and couldn't stop reading.

Having had to flee her family home after a deadly accident that almost lost her her magic, Iris Gray vows to keep her magic a secret. Instead, she writes fake curses and binds them to herbs, meant to burn away, taking her anger with them. But when a curse against an annoying coworker goes wrong, stolen by an owl before it can be bound to the herbs, the clock starts to countdown. If the owl dies, the curse will be unleashed, setting forth a series of untold tragedies.

I never expected to be gifted this book to review, and I was super excited to see it on my NetGalley shelf. I loved Rachel Griffin’s debut novel and had the highest of hopes for this one.

The world building and magic system in this book are well written. You can almost picture yourself in the PNW, full of its rainy days and mysterious forests. The magic system, like Griffin’s last novel, is clearly explained and fairly unique to more witch books I’ve read.

I found the characters quite boring and their relationship just felt expected. Iris felt like a duplicate of the MC in Griffin’s debut. I wanted to see more originality with the characters. I also was disappointed by the ending of the book. There was so much build up and I felt entirely let down by it.

Overall, the book had great potential but was just okay.

Wild Is the Witch is one my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint!! I can’t wait to have a physical copy of this gem.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!! and thank you Rachel Griffin for another beautiful story. I recieved this eARC from NetGalley. Huge thank you to Source Fire Books and Rachel Griffin for allowing me to read and review the ARC of Wild Is The Witch!
I found this book to be extremely comforting. The writing is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere is so rich and vivid. The whole experience is very immersive. Being immersed with nature and animals made for such an enjoyable and comforting reading time.
I was also blown away by how natural Witches fit into this world. This reads a lot like a contemporary and it feels like these kinds of witches are a normal thing in our lives. It just into place so well and i think thats a very hard thing to do. Especially when its set in our own world. But Rachel Griffin did it and she did it well!
However, because this did feel more like a contemporary, i was left feeling a little bummed. Thats not to say this isnt a good book. I just didnt get what i wanted to get out of it. I was hoping for way more witchy vibes/ fantasy scenes. (Which there are, it just was done in a more contemporary way.) I guess i was expecting this to be way more fantasy and plot filled and it wasnt. This is actually very much character based.
I will say, if youre a contemporary reader and are afraid of fantasy, this would probably be a great place for you to start. I would also recommend this to anyone who likes green witches and contemporary novels!
This may have been a 3 star for me but its an objective 4 star. So im settling on a 3.5! :)

This was such a beautiful love story, not just between two people but also between a witch her magic, and young woman and the pacific northwest. I loved the scenery and the way that magic blended with the wilderness. It was a really powerful story about self-acceptance that was both relatable and heart-wrenching. Rachel Griffin does such a lovely job of finding the nuance in love stories so that they go deeper than just simple young love.

She does it again!!! Wild is the Witch...
This story is so well and enchantingly written. Same as with her first book, The Nature of Witches, you're sucked in on the first page...atleast I was. Rachel Griffin's books do not disappoint and I'm so thankful I found her because she reminded me how much I love to read and to be able to find treasures like these.

Thank you SouceBooks Fire for granting my wish of an eARC via Netgalley. Forever greatful and ready for August so my pre-order comes in and I get to hold this beautiful book.

I for one absolutely adore Rachel Griffin's writing style, so when I heard about Wild Is The Witch, I already knew it would be such a treat, and let me tell you friends I certainly was not disappointed!!

There is something so beautifully atmospheric about Rachel's writing, every time I read one of her books I'm instantly transported into the world she's created😍 The Lore and magic system is so incredibly done, it almost feels poetic to read.

The characters in this book were so well written and their individual journeys are equally as satisfying to read about it ❤️ I heard somebody say that Wild Is the Witch reads like a love letter to nature, forgiveness and second chances, and that couldn't be more true!

There is always such a theme of hope in Rachel's book's that I hope everyone gets a chance to read this magical tale🌱

A big Thank you to @sourcebooksfire for the e-Arc!

Received the e-arc in exchange for an honest review. Huge gratitude to the author and NetGalley for the opportunity. The fastest book I've ever read!

I personally adore Rachael Griffin's writing style as she is capable to pour her own words as simple as she can in describing the storyline. I reckon her specialty would be involving witch characters. As her second book, I likely choose this as my fav. However the cover tho? Ah so pretty! <3

Now let's get to it. Honestly,
As I read the epilogue, it makes me hook straightaway. Not only that, 1-2 chapters make me feel calm and awe due to the author having a great sense in detailing the nature surrounding Iris and her mother. I feel like this book should be read when it was raining and switched on the Lofi playlist.

As you know in the synopsis, Iris is a witch that surely made huge mistakes that backfires her. But focusing on her character, I love Iris's way of thinking and behaving. Does it seem mature for a teenager? In a good way YES! Probably because she has been through a lot as a witch. You will get adventure, swooning, feeling the slow burn, and get your wild imagination running free in your head for this book. The setting captivated me - Pacific Northwest is a dream! Living in wood and surrounded by animals definitely my element.

So how about Pike? The boy who hates witches at first but then....okay I don't want to give any spoiler here but his relationship with Iris brings joy to me.

I've rarely been glued with fantasy genres that involve witch characters but this is EXCEPTIONAL. AAAA guys you should read this! It was fantastic! I must say the queen of witches belongs to Rachael Griffin and I can see her improvement towards this 2nd book. Congratulations!

Iris witnesses a horrible death at the hands of magic. Even though she is found innocent of no wrongdoing, everyone looks at her differently because she is a witch. Even those who are supposed to love a protect her. Iris vows never to let anyone know she is a witch. With her mother, she moves across the country and opens an animal refuge. Pike Alder comes to work at their animal refuge and there is . . . .tension between the two. She can't stand him. After a particularly nasty comment from Pike, Iris creates a curse for him. However, she never intends to actually use the curse. Right as she is about to dispel the curse an owl swoops in a steals it. Iris and Pike spend the next several days tracking the owl down through the woods. However, PIke doesn't know they are chasing it because of the curse. He doesn't even know Iris is a witch, and he despises witches.

This was the perfect read for a winter afternoon. I sat down with the pups intending to read for an hour or so. Before I knew it, I had devoured this book. I completely emerged in the story. So much so, that I now want to go camping and I don't do sleeping don't the ground.

This book had all the earmarks of a social media favorite--enemies to lovers and forced proximity. What more could you ask for? Now if only someone could see me, the way Pike sees Iris.

I can’t tell you the joy that Rachel’s writing brings. But this is the second book of hers that I’ve read that when completed, I am left with a smile on my face and happiness in my heart. This book makes me want to move to the Pacific Northwest and live in the woods. This book makes me stop and look around at nature and take in the pure magic that it is. This book was just fantastic.

The prose of this book is beautiful, wrapping readers up in its spell. Griffin crafts a beautiful relationship arc between Pike and Iris, each wonderfully complicated and understandable.

I had the pleasure of reading an e-arc of Rachel Griffin's upcoming book, Wild is the witch, and it was a magical experience.

The setting of this story and the way it described nature and natural life was so vivid and atmospheric that i felt calmed by it just like the main character at times. Iris is one of the book characters i've related to the most all my life, the way she leads life and the way she struggles with the way her mind works and the worries she can't help but overthink spoke to me on a spiritual level.

I found the plot very original and creative and was hooked by It from the very beggining. It only took me two days to read it.

I fell in love with both Iris and Pike and their joint journey and individual character arcs felt true and necessary for them in a way that not many authors can manage to write. This is already one of my new favorite books and i think the story and the characters are going to stay with me for a long time. If you haven't already, please consider preordering the book, it comes out in August and i promise it's one of the best things you're gonna read this year.

Sometimes you start a book on a Sunday night, snuggled in to bed, hoping to read a few pages before you drift to sleep. Sometimes you start a book on a Sunday night and can't put it down, so you read for hours until common sense tells you to finish it tomorrow when you are awake again. This was that book, the one I couldn't put down and the one I talked about today with some of my students who love to discuss books. Magic is at the heart of this story as Iris is a witch. She has sworn never to speak of being a witch again after a tragic experience her friend faced and she uses her powers to connect with the animals at the refuge she runs with her mother. To deal with her anxiety and stress, Iris can be found casting spells into the earth in a way that cause no harm. This outlet works well for her until she curses her co-worker and the curse is connected to a owl. When Iris realizes what she has done, she is forced to journey into the woods to find the owl and remove the curse, while being accompanied by the very boy she was cursing. I loved this book from the moment I started reading it. I loved the way that Griffin created Iris as a realistic teenager, who just happened to be a witch. I loved the relationship development between Pike and Iris, as well as the moments they were truly honest with each other. I found myself teared up a few (many) times and I am grateful to have discovered this book. I can't wait to see what Griffin writes next, but I hope she continues to create powerful, emotional, magical tales.

Wild is the Witch is another magical treat by Rachel Griffin. I adored altruistic Iris and loved quirky and kind Pike. You feel the uncertainty, the fear, and the strength of Iris as she wrestles with the thing she loves most in life being lost due to never believing she could love the boy she cursed. Griffin effortlessly weaves magic onto every page seemlessly transporting the reader into the story. Wild is the Witch is simply a delight, a story I did not want to end.

“What is coincidence if not a subtle form of magic?”

Oh my goodness. Rachel Griffin must be a witch. I am positive of it. In her second book, Wild is the Witch, she weaves magic into our natural world so effortlessly, she makes me believe it’s possible.

Iris and Pike, the main characters, are so real, I could see them walking through the forests of the Pacific Northwest. I could feel the rain as it turned from a drizzle into a storm. I could feel the wind whipping at the tent. Hear the owl’s hoot echo through the trees.

All I can say is if you love…
- Nature
- Atmospheric settings that add to the drama
- “Enemies” to lovers
- There’s only one tent 😉
- Cursing boys in the midnight hours

Then grab a copy of this book from your local indie bookstore or library as soon as it hits the shelves.

I received an ARC of Wild is the Witch from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Wild is the Witch is far from my normal read. I rarely read fantasy, and can't remember the last time I picked up a YA novel. That being said, I'm so glad I received this book.

A girl falls in love with a boy who hates what she loves most. Magic. Rachel Griffin put a wonderful spin on some common romance tropes. Enemies to Lovers. Secret Identity. Stuck Together. Betrayal. Trauma. CURSED.

I debated between 4 and 5 stars a few times because this book was so far out of my normal reading I do t have much to compare it to, but Griffin used such beautiful imagery, and her words were so eloquent, I found myself re-reading sentences or paragraphs just to experience them again.

If you're looking for a quick, but thoroughly enjoyable read, I highly recommend Wild is the Witch.

This is the worst book ive read in a while. I mean sure the premise is cool but the writing is so simple and awkward and idk i guess it just coulda been fleshed out more.
