What a fantastic adventure story with twists and turns, historical notes and a little second chance romance. Think National Treasure meets the Goonies…I love it! The character development was realistic, the setting was beautifully depicted, and the story line had great pacing.
I
Something Wilder by the dynamic duo—Christina Lauren is a second chance love story with a treasure hunting adventure and romance. The novel follows the journey of Lily and Leo meeting up for the first time after years apart. On a harrowing adventure in the beautiful but dangerous canyons in Utah—Lily and Leo have time to sort through their past and figure out their future. In Something Wilder by Christian Lauren, the authors pull you into the love story and keep you there with their action-packed storyline and unique characters. This novel is another hit by these teamed-up authors that romance readers should not miss.
This is my first time reading anything by Christina Lauren and I guess in someway I had some very high expectations and Something Wilder meet almost all of them.
Things I liked:
-The whole treasure hunting, Wild West theme of the book was just amazing I could picture it all playing out while reading and i really haven't read anything like hat before.
-Leo (well i can't say why because of spoilers) "but trust me"
-Nicole just cracked me up she is probably my favorite in his book
-The riddles, the code cracking and puzzles where just really cool to read because you really fel like you where there with them solving them as hey where.
Things I Didn't Like:
-Terry and Bradley that is all.

this was cute and fun but wasn’t what i expected but id still recommend fans of CL reading because it was still very cute
Thank you Gallery Books for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Christina Lauren has certainly evolved in their writing style throughout the years. Something Wilder is completely different than their previous works. This romance writing duo is now venturing into mystery? This one kept me on interested and had some twists and turns that you may not have expected. There's definitely romance but I felt like that was a bonus to the overall story line.
This book was reminded me a lot of Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown so if you like mystery novels with a side of romance, definitely pick it up!
WOW! This book would make an awesome movie! This is an action packed romance and one of the best stories I have read this year. I always love these two combo authors, they have outdone themselves with this puzzle bound book. Here is searching for clues, puzzles, mystery, drama, violent crime, romance and of course the HEA. A definite addition to your TBR list. Do not miss this one.
Christina Lauren novels are usually a hit or miss for me and unfortunately Something Wilder was not a hit.
It had a lot of potential and based on the description I thought it would be a heartfelt second chance romance, but somehow it turned into a strange treasure hunt with ridiculous bad guys, one of whom literally fell off a cliff and died.
I did care for Lily and Leo, but I felt their love story would have been better served without the over-the-top shenanigans going on around them.
A fun read with some, well, wild twists, but I wish the characters had been more developed and that we got to see more of how Lily and Leo fell in love the first time to make their reunion more impactful.
Christina Lauren have always been fan favourites and while rom coms aren’t always what I pick but Christina Lauren always leaving me full with bursting of happiness and joy. And that’s exactly what I can confidently say something wilder left me with. I had a smile on my face reading this book the entire way through. I cannot wait to see what Christina Lauren release in the future. 5/5 very happy stars
This book was... well... WILD! I love a good second chance trope. There were a few twists I didn't see coming, and also some that I did. I laughed out loud. This may be a new favorite of mine!
I went in completely blind with this ARC. If you’ve been here awhile, you already know Christina Lauren is my JAM. So I jumped at the opportunity to read this one early - it did not disappoint. I was shocked and I had to do a double take after the first twist to make sure I was reading a Christina Lauren book.
What I loved ❤️: The treasure hunting, puzzles, romance , and horses! Lily & Leo were so sweet together, & Nicole was the best friend that everyone wishes they had.
Something Wilder has something for everyone: romance, adventure, and mystery.
This was quite different from Christina Lauren's other books and it was a welcome surprise! I loved the setting and the mystery. I wasn't sure what to expect from the romance with them already having been in love earlier in their lives, but it worked fine. I really enjoyed learning about the canyons in Utah - it was so unexpected.
This book was JAM PACKED with feels. It was so SOO much more than just a romance. It was a history of lovers, adventure and jaw dropping plot twists. And i think all of that is what made me love this so much. A story about second chance romance. I love romance, romcoms and thrillers but rarely find them all together. This one delivered! I spent some of the book thinking it would be an excellent movie! and the ending of the book... HAIRS stood up on my arms reading it. chills through my body like wow. Lily was such a fiery independent woman and i absolutely adored her. She has a history of hurt and watching her character growth was incredible. Leo was such a little nerd but he had my heart with how much he supported and pushed lily and never stopped encouraging her to go after the adventure and to never give up. Chills again. The entire book.. MAJOR ROUND OF APPLAUSE.
Christina Lauren never misses! I devoured this book in one sitting.
Lily and Leo had a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love when they were younger and had no cares in the world. When Leo disappears to care for his mother and never comes back, Lily assumes that their love story was just too good to be true.
Ten years later, the two are brought back together when Leo's friend organizes a boy's trip that takes them right to Lily's cowboy retreat. Despite their shock at seeing one another again, they slowly become close and work out their misunderstandings.
A sudden misstep in the middle of their journey finds the group stuck with a dead body, a buried treasure, and a dangerous choice ahead of them: retreat to safety, or try to find Butch Cassidy's hidden money out in the desert?
Crazy plot-twists, betrayals, romance, and general lawlessness ensues, guaranteeing a fresh, incredibly readable story.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinions.
This was a fun romance/western-ish mash up. I've enjoyed every Christina Lauren book I've picked up, including this one. I appreciated how tough and capable of a character Lily is. There were several unexpected twists with this story. Kept me on my toes!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of “Something Wilder” in exchange for an honest review. The last Christina Lauren I read was “The Unhoneymooners” and this felt like a total departure. More National Treasure than rom-com. I appreciated that there was some heaviness to the plot, but it felt like things clipped along pretty quickly. As such, to me, it felt like many of the characters weren’t very deep/well rounded. I did really like the ending of the book. I enjoyed reading a western more than I thought I would; I just would have liked to get to know the characters a bit better.
I swear, Christina Lauren books are either really good or they are just "meh" and there is no in-between. This one was was just "meh". It was barely a romance at all and the whole time I was reading it I felt like I was watching a rerun of Expedition: Unknown with Gosh Gates (there was absolutely an episode about a treasure hunter who hid a treasure that may or may not have been found). So, while I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either.
I received an ARC copy from Netgalley (thank you!) and cannot say enough about how much I loved this book without spoiling it! I absolutely love all of Christina Lauren's books and this was one of my favorites. The story line was fantastic and the chemistry between the MC's was amazing. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this as its not your typical second chance romance novel, which made it even better. I devoured this book in a day and would absolutely reread it again once its published!
From the Unhoneymooners to In a Holidaze to The Soul Mate Equation this pair of best friend autors knows how to craft escapable Womens Fiction. The contemporary romance and humor that accompanies these novels truly knows how to get me. Something Wilder is no exception. Something Wilder takes this up a notch with treasure hunting through Utah. Can it get any better than this? I wanna say no but I know these two are up to something good for next time.
A fun romantic suspense tale. Second chance romance. Wild adventure with several surprises and quite a bit of danger. Entertaining and engaging. I would have preferred no foul language and no intimate details, but didn't feel as if I should lower my rating due to my preference. The story kept me turning the pages, even if I did skip a few. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.
