Story promises Humor, Adventure, Romance, Danger, some twists via a treasure hunt!

Story features Lily, whose father Duke Wilder was a famous actually a notorious treasure hunter. Now Lily is making a living by leading tourist on ‘Fake treasure hunts’ by following her father’s old maps through the red rock canyons of Utah.

Hmmm ~ As the story promised there were ‘some twists a via a treasure hunt’ but to me this didn’t live up to the hype. I know I am in the minority and I am sure fans will love it.

This was my first Christina Hobbs/Lauren Billings novel and not the WOW I was hoping but I will read and another author, Christina Lauren story!

Thank you NetGalley for this book. Unfortunately, I got 42% of the way through the book and had to DNF it. This was definitely a different type of book than what Christina Lauren usually writes. I have LOVED their books, but this one fell flat and I was incredibly bored.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early release. This book was so much fun! A very different take on a romance book and I loved it.
Lilly Wilder is the daughter of Duke Wilder, treasure hunter. Lilly runs an adventure company searching for fake treasure but on one exhibition that her ex boyfriend happens to be on they realize their is real treasure to find. This book has everything, romance, adventure, villains, the Wild West. A great easy read that I kept having to turn the page to see what happens next.

Ugh a love story combined with a treasure hunt - two of my favorite things! Lily and Leo were young and in love once, until tragic circumstances wrenched them apart. They went ten years without seeing or speaking to one another (talk about a slow burn!) until Leo’s guys weekend brings him straight back into her saddle. Lily is stuck giving guided treasure tours based on the work of her father, a world famous archaeologist and treasure hunter. It’s all meant in good fun as a way to pay the bills, until suddenly it gets very real. Lily and Leo are left racing for their lives to find the treasure before the bad guys do. This book had a lovable cast of characters, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for Water and Nicole’s sequel. Solid 5/5 in my book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Christina Lauren's newest novel, Something Wilder. I'm a longtime fan of this talented writing duo and this wildly fun adventure didn't disappoint.

Lily Wilder fell in love with Leo Grady ten years ago and had her heart broken when he left her at her family ranch after receiving news about a family emergency back home. Lily has since moved on to running a successful adventure expedition with her hilarious badass best friend Nico!e, but Leo remains a constant in her thoughts and in her heart. When he and three friends unexpectedly arrive to take part in Lily's tour, comedy and a whole lot of drama quickly follow. On a treasure hunt masterfully planned by Lily's late father Duke, friendships are tested and loyalties are stretched to their breaking points.... but it will all be worthwhile if there really is a pot of gold at the end of their rainbow.

Unlike many of Christina Lauren's real-feel romantic comedies, Something Wilder is filled with farfetched fun that will have you wishing that the adventure could continue.

Every expectation that I had for this book was blown away. I loved every single thing about Something Wilder - the characters, the suspense, the romance, the mystery, the locations. Christina Lauren have made an amazing book and it has definitely become one of my all time favorites!

Lily Wilder is the child of famed adventurer, Duke Wilder. When he died, he left her nothing and she had to sell her beloved ranch. She now works as a tour guide, taking people on fake treasure hunts through the canyons in Utah she grew up in. When Leo Grady walks back into her life after a decade away, she can only imagine how her life will change.

I am a huge Christina Lauren fan and I could NOT WAIT to read this book! It is very, VERY much unlike anything they've ever done before. If you are looking for a traditional C.Lo romance, this is not it. But I genuinely enjoyed the twists and turns and adventure that happened! I did not initially feel the chemistry between Leo and Lily. It was only when they were left to their own adventure did I really grasp what they felt for each other.

I'm always surprised at the variety of topics, subgenres, and characters in Christina Lauren books. They're all so different, yet they're also all binge-worthy, swoony, romances. I loved Something Wilder. It was not what I was expecting. It was so much better.

Anything Christina Lauren writes is PURE GOLD and this book is no exception. I could picture myself in the great outdoors while reading, I felt like I was on an adventure myself. Thank you for the opportunity to Review early! 5 stars

I was really excited for this book, but I will say it’s not my favorite by Christina Lauren. A lot of it felt over the top and unbelievable, and it was hard for me to connect with the characters. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it stayed a fun adventure romcom and didn’t get overly dramatic and thriller-ish as it went on.

I also didn’t love that it was a second chance romance for Lily and Leo but every single flashback was just about them having sex. I would’ve liked more of a glimpse into their actual relationship to see why they’re both still in love a whole decade later.

Overall this book was pretty fun, just not a big hit for me.

This felt like a call back to old school Christina Lauren from the Josh and Hazel era of writing. After a plethora of mediocre books this was a stunning standout. I was sucked into th modern western setting and the unusual backdrop for a second chance romance. The opening chapter sets up a fair amount of tension and anticipation which really amps up the first reunion. I thought the set up of the mystery/conflict was also incredibly well done especially with how Checkov’s gun was used successfully not just with a literal gun but with other smaller details that had payoff in the end.
Also, I’m glad we finally have smut in their books again because I was starting to miss it.
A STUNNING book!!

Lily is the daughter of Duke Wilder, cowboy and treasure hunter. She meets her first love, Leo, while he works at her father's ranch for the summer. Life tears them apart, and they have a second chance ten years later when Leo and his friends attend one of Lily's treasure hunt tours.

Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, and this definitely fit the bill. Lily and Leo only shared five months together, but they were each other's first love, so it makes sense that they still feel so strongly about each other after such a long time apart. Leo was a quiet, kind, thoughtful man, who wore his heart on his sleeve, and I loved that about him. He may be my new favorite book boyfriend. Lily was smart, tough, and enterprising; she made a whole business based on her father's old journal. I really liked Lily and could really feel the emotions she was experiencing.

The adventure storyline was really fun, although I was a little lost at times during the descriptions of the outdoors. I'm a city slicker and have no idea what some of those words even meant, but I still really enjoyed the story. Having the setting be almost entirely outdoors was a nice change of pace. I kind of knew how the story would end, but there were some really nice twists that I didn't see coming.

I'm a huge fan of Christina Lauren, and while this is different from their other books, it's another winner for me. I love the romance with Lily and Leo (so sweet and real), and the plot twists kept me hooked. The setting and historical references are spectacular and made for a great story. I will recommend it to others and read again!
I would like to thank NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Christina Lauren for the opportunity to read this book.

The Christina Lauren duo has written another winner with this one. Equal parts romance and treasure hunt, the reader will feel like Indiana Jones, wanting to race through the pages to find where "x" marks the spot.

3.5 stars for Christina Lauren's forthcoming novel, SOMETHING WILDER, out everywhere May 17th, 2022.

I've read all of Christina Lauren's chick lit novels with the Unhoneymooners and Love & Other Words being my two favorite. They went in a different route for this novel and while it wasn't my favorite, I welcome the fresh perspective and storyline. I admittedly am not the biggest fan of "quest" storylines so I found myself not picking up the book to finish it -- it took me over two weeks to get through. My interest ebbed and flowed through the novel. The quest aspect and the romance aspect felt like they were competing for attention and sometimes the storyline seemed a little, um, unbelieveable? But also, the suspense did spice things up a bit. I can totally see how there will likely be an audience who love this book, I just don't think it was the Christina Lauren book for me. I still look forward to what they came up with next.

Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have been waiting for this book! I recently started a treadmill regiment, and looking forward to the next chapter got me up and going at 6:00 a.m. Yes, we knew Lily and Leo would end up together, but it was fun to watch their journey. Loved the "Bradley" plot twist. I will be recommending this to patrons!

I had expectations going into this one, there’s a certain style that you can come to expect from our fav bestie author duo Christina Lauren. But I really must applaud them for Something Wilder because they ventured a bit off the beaten path (pun intended) and it WORKED.

Something Wilder is second chance love story complete with a few of our favorite swoon worthy tropes (I mean, it’s Christina Lauren after all!) but wowie was there some D R A M A & major plot stuff that I totally didn’t anticipate. There was mystery & suspense coupled with the classic Christina Lauren vibe.

Lily & Leo first met and fell madly in love over a decade ago (this long of a gap between the MCs seem to be a thing with the authors’ books, and I don’t particularly care for it) on Lily’s family’s ranch. Then some major miscommunication occurs, and the two never speak or expect to see each other again.

That is, until Leo’s friends plan their annual guys trip (*eye roll*) with Wilder Adventures - owned & operated by the one and only Lily Wilder (and her fabulous side kick Nicole, we love her). It’s important to mention here that Lily’s dad was some treasure hunter extraordinaire, and to make ends meet after losing her ranch, she opened up a treasuring hunting guide business. Awkwardness & sparks ensue as the two meet again for the first time in a decade, turning their worlds upside down.

Well done, right? Another successful second chance love story in the books. I mean, yeah, but also NO. Because what happens out there in the wilderness had my jaw permanently on the floor. I didn’t think myself to particularly like high stake adventure mixed into my romcom but I may have to reconsider after this one.

4⭐️ because we leaned a little too close to some stereotypes and some of the characters rubbed me way wrong which I guess was intentional but still. Also, Lily & Leo’s chemistry could have been a little more electric. And after THE THING(S) happen, I would expect for there to be a little more fallout. The story wrapped up just a little too neatly & quickly.

While I love Christina Lauren, this one was not as good as her others. I found the characters annoying. The first half read very much like a sit-com and was completely unbelievable.

Four friends venture out on a dude-ranch to hunt for treasure. As it turns out though, one of them knows their guide, very well and still hasn't recovered from his broken heart.

my first Christina Lauren book! I thought it was nice. Terry was such a jerk and I knew Bradley was a jerk as well with how he was acting with the money. My favorite character was Walter. He was such a sweet guy and if he was real is want to date him! I identified with the trauma Lily felt in her life. It wasn't the best story ever but it wasn't bad! I do want to read their other book Love and other Words

While a little too mature for my readers, this was a personal favorite of mine. I am a huge Christina Lauren fan, and this novel did not disappoint! I can't wait to purchase when it's published to add to my collection. I have added it to my book club's TBR list!
