Loved Christina Lauren’s venture into romantic suspense! Something Wilder ticked all the boxes—great characters, witty dialog without being overdone, a unique, well-described setting, a credible and relatable love story. And it was all wrapped up in very engaging, suspenseful plot. The authors just keep getting better!

AMAZING. I have read and loved everything this amazing author duo have b r e a t h e d near, and Something Wilder was no exception. Even though it similarly hooked into my feels and gave me a romance to swoon over like most other CL books, it also felt completely new and different. My heart raced for a million reasons, and the level of suspense within the plot was wonderful to experience - not to mention the tension and suspense between the amazing characters! There were a few times that I noticed some plot holes or things that hadn't fully been explained, but also couldn't bring myself to care with how much I was enjoying the read. 4.5/5⭐

Something wilder has something for everyone: love, rekindled first life, loss of parent, finding yourself, adventure, mystery, double crossing, treasure hunting and steaming sleeping bag shenanigans.
This may be my favorite book by these authors

A fun book, with love and adventure. If you've ever visited the national parks in Utah, the descriptions will bring you right back there. If you haven't, you will want to plan a trip!

CW: gun violence, accidental death, death of a parent (past, off page), grief, parental abandonment

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f second chance romance
-forced-proximity
-there's only one sleeping bag
-a treasure hunt
-so much adventure
-mutual pining

This felt different from other Christina Lauren books I've read before. The story/plot was heavily loaded with the adventure/treasure hunt which was exciting, balanced by the romance plot. While not as heavily internally/romance focused as other books I've read from them, I really enjoyed this one. It was a page turner, compulsively readable just like the books before, and so very exciting.

I loved how Lily and Leo pushed each other out of their comfort zones, and Leo was such a simp for Lily. They had sexual chemistry up the wazoo and were pining for each other for years. I loved the journey of their relationship, the clear trust, as they traveled closer to the treasure. Intertwined with a story of redemption for her dad in a way, so many unpredictable turns. I loved the escapist element which I think we all need in our lives.

As someone who has zero interest in camping, this was so much fun and propelled me to feeling like I was on their journey with them. A well earned HEA with some real evil characters, I'm already jonesing for my next CLo fix to see what they're going to come up with next.

Steam: 3

I absolutely loved everything about Something Wilder. I will literally read anything Christina Lauren publishes in the future. Both duo authors write books with captivating stories. This book was adorable and I enjoyed all of the actions scenes. The riddles, the action adventure, and the romance gave me everything that I love. Leo and Lily were amazing characters. I can’t wait to have a physical copy in my collection. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to receive an early copy.

Keep CL's advice in mind while reading this book and/or traveling the wilds of Utah: " We wrote this book to be a fun, swoon-filled escape from the real world, not to serve as a guide to your own adventure. If you follow our route, you will die, lol."

Something Wilder is a second chance romance about a wild west treasure hunting tour guide and the man who broke her heart. A treasure-hunting retreat brings them together again, where they face danger and darkness.

Lily Wilder, daughter of Duke Wilder, a famous treasure hunter, left her in ruins. She runs treasure hunting corporate and tourist retreats in the wilds of Utah. With the help of her best friend Nicole, they lead groups of fake treasure hunting tours and rough it in the wild. Ready to move on with her life, Lily's last tour reunites her with Leo Grady, the man who broke her heart years ago. Action, adventure, mystery, and suspense ensue.

The narrative alternates between Lily and Leo. I liked Lily--she is tough as nails and makes for an inspiring heroine, but I loved Leo. Their chemistry is palpable. Nicole's POV isn't shared, but I loved her character, and I think she should be the MC in CL's next book. She made me laugh out loud.

Something Wilder is my favorite CL since Love and Other Words. What I enjoyed is that it is different from their other novels. There is an edge of darkness, and there is more than just romance, as there is a lot of action and adventure. The plot is a little over-the-top, but I enjoyed it. There is also a mystery and some suspense woven in. I was pleasantly surprised by the dark turn this took. Combined with lovable characters, this book was a winner for me.

I haven’t loved CL’s most recent novels. They felt formulaic and forced, but this book brought me back to the reasons that made me love their earlier novels: loveble characters, steamy chemistry, and something a little unexpected. I am glad they stepped out of the box and did something different in Something Wilder.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun read! It's nice to depart from a typical romance from time to time so I was really excited to give this one a shot. The treasure hunting aspect of it really stole the show and I kept wondering how they were going to go about solving all the riddles and clues.

There were a few things I figured out myself, not completely, but just what context I suppose so there were a couple of times where I was screaming COMMEEEEE ONNNNNNNN! But it was fun to feel like I was a part of the treasure hunt.

Lily and Leo were a great team. I feel like we get enough of their history to understand their present. There were times where I felt a little frustrated with Lily for holding onto a feeling that ended up not being accurate, despite her knowing that. However, Leo typically managed to rein her in, so that was a plus.

The ending had me rushing to finish because I NEEDED to know what was coming next and how it was going to end. The twist at the end was mildly expected, but something didn't happen that I thought for sure would, so it was almost like an anti-plot twist?

Overall, this was a fun, captivating read. It is somehow both a typical Christina Lauren book and an atypical book for them. I definitely enjoyed it. It was fun.

So cute. One of their better recent novels. Loved the crazy "Wild West" aspect and didn't see some of the twists coming. Loved the romance part as well. 4.5 stars!

Christina Lauren has quickly become one of my new favorite author's for romance. Their books tend to be quick, easy reads full of heart and second chances. Something Wilder added a whole new aspect to the story though. It gave us a look at what Christina Lauren could do with romantic mystery/suspense. I really enjoyed going on the adventure with Lily and gang as they attempted to find Butch Cassidy's long lost treasure, save Lily's ranch, and figure out their feelings about numerous things/people along the way. Of course, like any good adventure, things don't go quite according to plan but that is part of the fun.

I really enjoy how this author duo writes their characters. They seem to just jump off of the page and I can't help but fall in love with them (well except Terry). I especially loved the way they wrote Lily and Nicole. These were two fierce and independent women who weren't going to put up with crap from anyone. They didn't need anyone to help them. I loved the snarky/sarcastic banter between the characters and I thought the treasure hunting aspect was executed very well. In fact this book reminded me a lot of the National Treasure movies and I wasn't mad about that.

I look forward to whatever Christina Lauren puts out next because I think it is safe to say they have a new fan for life.

A big thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for allowing me early access to this book.

Something Wilder has made it into my top three Christina Lauren books along with Love and Other Words and In a Holidaze. This book is so good; it’s full of humor, action, adventure, and steamy romance. It kinda feels like a mix between National Treasure and City Slickers that had me on the edge of my seat the whole ride!

The story is of second chance love between Lily Wilder, daughter of famed treasure hunter, and Leo, often referred to as “lovesick city boy”. The two fall in love when they were young only to be separated and reunited a decade later when Leo and his friends go on their yearly bro-cation to Lily’s adventure outfitters. Before I got any further, I have to say I love the idea of people taking yearly trips with their friends, just like the bros of City Slickers (which I mentioned this movie to my 20-something coworker and she stared at me in confusion and said she had never heard of it and I said you know with Billy Crystal and she looked and me dumbly and said who? And I have never felt so old in my life. What did these kids watch on HBO when their parents were at work over the summer????)

Anyway, the book takes off from there. I don’t want to give anything away but it is a rollercoaster of an adventure ride. I loved all the detail and research that went into describing the history of the outlaw trail and Butch Cassidy. There are many puzzles to solve and codes to crack as you read through their adventure. In addition to the fun adventure aspect of the book, there is also the sweet love story between Lily and Leo. They are so cute together and love how Leo supports Lily’s strong personality.

And we can’t forget about Walter. Oh Walt. Be still by beating heart.

Special thanks to Net Galley and Gallery Books for the advanced reader copy.

I appreciate how the writing duo that comprises Christina Lauren works to make every story they write unique. Sure, romance writers can write the same plot lines over and over, with that breakup event at 75%, the nearly cookie cutter Hero/Heroine and Love Interest. I am totally here for that every time. But CLo have moved from their scorching series into this groove where we find interesting characters, often tragic back stories, and a completely different back drop. Their contemporary romances are the perfect vacation reads because of this. This adventure takes you to the rugged lands of Utah and line up with the explosion of interest in getting outdoors in National Parks and wilderness.
Lily Wilder is one tough cookie, but she's always prided herself on being calm, cool, and collected. RESILIENT could be her middle name. She is likeable and level headed. Her counterpoint is of the same make up, kind, quiet, steady. If LIly is "resilient," Leo's middle name would be "RESPONSIBLE." He is as steady as they come and pretty much a genius. (I love that CL writes guys that are always so damn smart!). He and Lily have to work together to puzzle out her dead father's treasure hunting clues if they want to survive. The plot is packed with scrapes and while the tension isn't as gripping as a more adventure centered novel, it is enough to compel me to press through and read this in one sitting.
If you are a CLo fan or have patrons who love their books, this one might be a bit of a surprise, but underneath it all, it's still Christina and Lauren - complex, independent heroines, sexy, smart heros supporting them in all the ways they don't realize they need it, and wonderful HEA endings.
Thank you so much to Gallery Books for the ARC!!

I want to start by saying I love Christina Lauren. I’ve read everything they have written and will continue to read everything they write in the future. But Something Wilder just wasn’t my favorite. When I open up a Christina Lauren book I expect love, friendship, witty banter, a little spice (sometimes a lot of spice), and a happily ever after. This book had all of that and yet I didn’t find myself rooting for any of the characters. Sometimes I outright despised the secondary characters. I especially had a hard time with the plot pacing. I want to reiterate that I love Christina Lauren and will read everything they continue to write but this was just not the one for me.

Thank you to #Netgalley for ARC

Steamy romcom with adventure and horses. I’ve never read anything like it. I enjoyed the main characters and their chemistry was off the charts. The desert as the backdrop was an added bonus.

One part adventure, one part mystery, one part Western, and all parts romance! Christina Lauren does it again!

Something Wilder has the air of the Christmas story they wrote a couple of years ago what with the remote setting and influence of friends, but this one doesn’t have the hokey time-travel piece. If this doesn’t make you want to explore the Utah and Colorado National Parks, you didn’t read this right! Lol

The authors known as Christina Lauren have created a love story reminiscent of the old movie "Romancing the Stone" which keeps the reader engaged and wondering what could possibly happen next. Lilly Wilder is leading a small group of men on what is supposed to be a fun-filled treasure hunting type of old west bonding excursion when suddenly, it becomes the real thing. Oh.... did I forget to mention that the love of her life who she hasn't seen in years is on the expedition? Lots of romance and intrigue with a couple of wonderful plot twists. Something Wilder is a great read that will take you on a wild adventure!
