Great book. I enjoyed Reading it. The characters and plot were interesting life like and easy to connect with.
was not super invested in this story. didn’t realize it was pet of a series going but i don’t think having read the other books would’ve made much difference. there was sex. it was fine. admittedly, friends to lovers is not my cup of tea but maybe it’s yours and you’ll love this story!
I'll be honest, this book confused me right off the bat. For some reason I was having issues following along with who was who, and what was going on. So it was a little slow of a start, but it did get better in the middle.
It's definitely filled with a lot of sexual scenes, which I think would be obvious both from the summary and even the cover. If that's not your cup of tea, this book isn't for you. There is also m/f relations, which I wasn't as interested in, but they played a point.
I rated it 3 stars because I didn't find the book too deep, and I prefer those. Some may enjoy it better than I.
This is a first for me in regards to reading a story from this author so I was going in with no expectations of their writing. I think this is a book in a series, not sure on that, but I was able to read this as a stand-alone and not get lost on the characters.
The MC are Mayson and Renée. Renee is a straight woman that is going through a bad divorce and is very good friends with Mayson for a long time. Mayson is just the opposite of Renee in that she is more charismatic, and out and proud lesbian, and a player. j are best friends. Two women who’ve known each other for a lifetime and are as different as they are close. Renee starts to follow Mayson's pattern around sex, but it is m/f-I kind of skimmed over the more detailed sex scenes of that. The book is very sexually driven, so if you are not into well described sex scenes, Mayson's was HOT, this book may not be for you.
As the story progresses, Reneen starts to realize she has feelings for women, specifically Mayson, so you can say this is a friends to lover storyline. I found the characters to be well written, I could really picture what both are going through. There is some repetitive parts in the book, but I would again just skim over them if I basically already understood the issues. The end was also rather wrapped up very quickly, to quickly for my liking.
All in all it was a good read, I will keep an eye out for more from this author in the future.
I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but would have written the same opinion if I had come across this author on my own.
To see my Amazon review, it is under CC-Steamy
I’ve had this book for a while and just couldn’t get into it or finish it. It wasn’t able to hold my attention and I just wasn’t able to read it. I’m hoping after a reading break, I can pick this book back up again and finish it.
Renee and Mayson are lifelong best friends. Renee is recently divorced, while Mayson avoids relationships but is certainly not without female companionship. Renee has no interest in getting into another relationship, so she begins to mimic Mayson's behavior and starts having sex without commitment. Renee's escapades lead her to realize she may not be as straight as she thought and that what she has always needed was right in front of her all alone.
This is a friends to lovers, opposites attract story. Renee is uptight and overworked, Mayson is the laid back yoga instructor. Mayson has always been a bit in love with Renee, but she's straight, or so they both thought.
I enjoyed this story. As with all of Fiona Zedde's books, it is hot and there is a lot of sex, a lot! I don't enjoy reading male/female sex scenes, so I skimmed and moved on. But those scenes, as cringy as they were for me, were integral to Renee's journey. If you are looking for a book with likable characters, a relationship build on friendship and a writer who knows how to bring the heat, then this is one you should check out. This is book 6 in the How Sweet It Is series, however, it can be read as a stand alone.
An ARC was received from NetGalley for an honest review.
Mayson and Renée are best friends. Two women who’ve known each other for a lifetime and are as different as they are close. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Fiona Zedde is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next
I was granted a copy of Pleasure & Spice by Net Galley in exchange for an honest review and I was pleasantly surprised at this read. This is the first book I’ve read by author Fiona Zedde, but this is the 6th book in her How Sweet It Is series. That said, after I finished it I added most of her catalog to my TBR list. I have read a few spicy novels recently, but I especially enjoyed the balance of sensual detail in this book. It’s descriptiveness sucks you into the story, and yet it isn’t weighed down by too much detail. At more than one point in the plot I thought for sure I knew what the ending would be, but the story has a couple of twists I didn’t expect. If you’re a fan of powerful and beautiful BIPOC characters, if you enjoy WLW fiction and don’t mind a bit of F/M intimacy, if you like a story with a love triangle and drama, then I know you will enjoy this book. Well done Fiona Zedde!
Mayson and Renée are best friends. Two women who’ve known each other for a lifetime and are as different as they are close.
Mayson is a free-spirited and out lesbian, and very much desired in her Southern California queer community.
Renée, straight and sheltered, is just getting out of a difficult divorce and searching for an escape from her pain.
While Mayson slips in and out of affairs, taking pleasure where it bites the sweetest, Renée steps into a dangerous game of anonymous sex-by-dark that transports her to places she’d never dreamed. But the worlds of these two friends are heading for a dramatic collision. At the end of it all, will they or their friendship survive?
I **loved** this book. Fiona Zedde has quickly become an automatic buy author for me. Fantastic characters and chemistry.
This was an okay read - I really liked the characters but the ending felt forced and abrupt and that took away some enjoyment. There was a lot of repetition - I actually had to check to make sure I hadn't accidentally skipped back in the book to reread the same pages. It's not a bad read, but not a favorite.
I thought this one was just okay. There was a few geaniticam errors but most importantly I felt like the ending was rushed. Steamy scenes were nice.
Going into it I didn't know what to expect. To be honest, this book wasn't for me. I am sure there are lots of fans for this explicit genre, but turns out it isn't for me. The story was good although I couldn't get into the pairing. Seemed a bit out of the blue. I just didn't feel it. The book is well written but I could have done with more romance scenes between the MC's. But again, this is a personal preference, I can totally see the appeal for other people.
I requested this book because I really enjoyed the authors last book which was a suspense thriller. This one is a friends to more romance with some twists and turns. Mayson and Renee have been best friends their entire lives. Renee is straight and surviving after her recent divorce shakes her confidence. She wants to try what Mayson does which is being intimate without commitment. She decides to meet up with anonymous people via an online ad. Mayson encourages her but cares about her safety.
This is a book with a lot of sex. Both f/f and m/f. I like the two MC's and love when they are hanging out together but I wanted more of a romance between the two of them to be shown. So some of the aspects of this book weren't my cup of tea. It is well written and when a situation turns dangerous it becomes a page turner. This is part of a series but I read as a stand alone. Thank you to NetGalley and Red Hills Publishing for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. (3.5 stars)
I think this book’s title is way too accurate to its content! It’s literally about pleasure and spicy scenes.. but in a good way! This book was about woman’s pleasure and woman’s sexuality and the “scenes” were not cringe AT ALL! Would I recommend? Yes if you’re looking for sapphic spice, and openly gay women being comfortable in their skin.
