This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I have been waiting for this book since the ending of Faking it in Alaska when we saw Archer arrive in Captivity. While I did enjoy the book, for me, it was not ask good as the first book in the series. This series does have me interested in what is going on in the lives of the people and really want to read the next book with Lilah and Ford.

Second chance romances have always been at the top of my reading list but for me there is a fine line between how this plays out and what the person who leaves is willing to do to regain that love and the reason for the leaving. This book was close but I am not sure why - I could not get into Bridget and Archer's romance.

So, I enjoyed the book and will wait to read the next book in the series.

Following Archer and Bridgett was a ride. There were so many emotions ranging from love, lust, and anger.

The story basis of archer "catching the one that got away" was front and center. And work at it he did!

This was a pretty fluffy romance read, and I enjoyed it. I didn't find it too overwhelming, or deep
It was a very nice "light read" for me

Playing Dirty in Alaska is a great second chance romance from Samanthe Beck. This is the second in her Captivity, Alaska series; both are standalones but the first really does a wonderful job of setting this one up.

"That guy", the one who broke her heart, is back to resurrect the heart of his college girlfriend, the elusive Bridget. After hurting her immensely over four years ago, he's going to need more than charm and razor sharp good looks to win her back but he's up for the challenge. The banter is great, the chemistry is explosive and his love for her is awe inducing. I really enjoyed this book because of Archer because if I'm telling the truth I wanted to throttle Bridget more often that not. Albeut, she was dealing with someone no one should ever have to experience so I cut her some slack. Archer was swoony and so sold-out to the win Bridget back plan, it was lovely. The animal love story was doubly swoony! I love the tease of the next couple at the end-that one I can't wait for!!

This is my first time reading the books on this series. You might lose a little backstory, but she did a good job of having this be able to be read a stand alone.
Not sure how to clarify this one, second chance romance and to fit best.
Bridget Shanahan is trying to act like the grown up and drop with her bad habits. This become near impossible when her past walks into the bar. Archer Ellison had upended his life to come to Captivity Alaska. He knows how to push all her buttons, he's spent the last four years working his way back to her. But Bridget wants none of it and tries to keep him at arms length while still reeling him in close to satisfy the one thing that was never wrong with their relationship. As tension continues she may have to relent and realize part of growing up is forgiveness, both to yourself and those who love you.

Playing dirty in Alaska is the second book in Samantha Beck's contemporary adult romance series. This is the about 25-year-old pilot Bridget Shanahan and 29-year-old businessman/pilot Archer Ellison. This book can be read as a standalone without difficulty, I did and I wasn't disturbed by information from the previous book.
i really enjoyed this book, I loved the plot and the interactions between the characters. I recommend this book to everyone this

This series is so fun and steamy! This is the second book in the Captivity Alaska series and while it can be read as a stand-alone, it was fun having the backstory of the first.

I’m loving these characters more and more! Bridget is stubborn, but for good reason-to protect herself from getting hurt again. Archer is a pain for Bridget, but his feelings for her are unquestionable. The chemistry between these two jumps off the pages and is spicy! We also get more on Lilah’s story and I’m hoping Beck continues it.

Another aspect I love is how Beck describes the environment in isolate Alaska in an intriguing way, from the flights with gorgeous views to the simple beauty seen from porches. And of course, you couldn’t have a book in Alaska without some wildlife action!

Thank you to @entangled_publishing and the author for this gifted copy!

This is a great book. The two main characters are Bridget and Archer. They meet while in college, there is an attraction. When Archer graduates his father calls him back home. He doesn’t want Bridget to see all the ugliness of his family so he breaks up with her. He gets his life back in order, it takes him four years to do it. Then he goes after Bridget. The both have their issues, a controlling father, a brother that died, trust issues. Together they work the, out and fall back in love.

4.5 stories

I enjoyed this second-chance romance a lot more than I expected to. It's the second in a series of which I haven't read the first, but it is not the first book that I've read by this author. The story can easily be read as a standalone.

The story mostly takes place in the small town of Captivity, Alaska. Bridget runs the local airfield with her brother Trace. Trace is off on his honeymoon, leaving Bridget in charge of everything in his absence. A free spirit and daredevil, Bridget is not really known for her reliability, but she's determined to do it right. It doesn't help that her old college flame, Archer, shows up, four years after he pretty much walked out on her, breaking her heart.

Archer had his reasons for leaving Bridget back then, and he's in Captivity determined to win her back. Bridget is having none of it. He destroyed her once and she's determined that he won't destroy her a second time. Fortunately for her, Archer is a very patient man.

Most of the story is taken up with the two of them dancing around each other. Archer makes some headway, and then he has to retreat a step or two before starting again. Bridget is s tough nut to crack, but she slowly and surely starts to let him in. The big question is whether his controlling father will come between them again. The balance of the storyline is filled with a handful of side stories, including one that probably is leading to the next book in the series.

I really loved this story, and I will read every other book in the series for sure. I do think the storyline stalls a little bit in the middle, however; while it's nice to see a romance that's years in the making (rather than instalove), the back and forth gets a little bit tedious. I also wasn't entirely sure that I understood the reason that Archer left Bridget four years prior. They kind of explain it, though never really to my full satisfaction. But the sheer vibrancy of the characters and Captivity is an almost reasonable compromise.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

3.5*
Playing Dirty in Alaska is book two of this series. I’m so bummed that I didn’t love this one quite as much as the first book, which was a home run for me and brought me out of my book slump. I did have high expectations coming into this story and I found myself comparing the two too much. This installment, I feel, lacked the sexual tension, humor, and the charm that had me up all night reading Faking it in Alaska. Regardless, it is a really cute story and I’m a new fan of Samanthe Beck.

My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the opportunity to read and review Playing Dirty in Alaska by Samanthe Beck.

Bridget is a pilot that runs away from responsibility until her brother leaves the business to her. Everything is running smoothly until businessman/pilot Archer shows up. The two have a past together. Archer has accomplished all he wants in business, now he wants to get the one woman that got away from him. Bridget is trying to keep away from Archer until a bet lands them together. A good read with heart.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC and the opportunity to read this book before it was published in exchange for an honest feedback.

Did I say before it was published? Oops. College got in the way and I was only able to finish reading it after its publication date but here’s a review nevertheless.

The story begins when Bridget Shanahan, a pilot for her family’s business, is face-to-face to her former lover and currently #1 nemesis, Archer Ellison III (yes, the third). Archer has tried to successfully finish a business with Bridget’s sister-in-law and, regardless the deal falling through, Archer’s main goal in going to Captivity was to get what he always wanted: get Bridget back. Forever. However, there is a lot of bad blood from Bridget’s side that she can’t simply let go. In order to get rid of Archer, Bridget decides to take him on a bet but, when the impulsiveness ends up hitting her in the ass (quite literally), Bridget is stuck with Archer for a month, and Archer will not let that opportunity go to waste.

I honestly had no idea what to expect. I didn’t read the first book of the series (I didn’t even realize it was a series, oops) and so I went completely blind. In some ways, I’m glad I did because it allowed me to have two perspectives on something that not only wrecked Bridget’s trust and ability to fall in love but also revealed a lot about Archer’s personality and, hence, character development.

Bridget’s internal struggle is one of the things that I identified the most with this book. Although I do not have a long, lost person I was completely in love with, I do have people who have betrayed me, mistreated me and, most of all, made me lose faith, trust and have made me question if I could ever fall in love. Being someone who has been hurt countless times before, I completely relate to Bridget’s struggle and completely denial in everything regarding to Archer.

In its own merit, Archer’s perspective allows the reader to completely understand why he did it. After all, he was still a young man when he left Bridget and, yes, although he could’ve done things completely different and the outcome would’ve been as painful as it was for both of them, neither of them would’ve probably grown up as much as they did. Archer realized his mistake and, despite that, realized that he needed to have his business and professional life in order before he could go back to Bridget.

Bless Archer’s patience and chivalry, for that is what Bridget needed. Archer was determined, yes, but he was also patient and when he realized that constant pushing Bridget over wouldn’t help his cause, he completely showed Bridget that he was willing to wait as long as she needed – as long as she didn’t play him.

The sexual scenes were so well and, at times, beautifully written. Not only did they added a very important aspect to their relationship, which helped Bridget open up more to Archer and use their sexual attraction as an excuse to get close to him without admitting to herself that she still had feeling for him, but it also showed how beautiful the act can be when two people are overflowing with love for the other.

The side characters were very entertaining and I got really curious for what the future reserves for a few of them. I also loved how the author incorporated a little bit of native Alaskan (is that a word?) culture with some Inuti and Tlingit language as well as characters. Although the focus was not that, in particular, I really liked how easily incorporated it in the story without sounding like we’re being given a History lesson (although, as a History nerd, I probably wouldn't have mind it.)

My only problem with the story was mostly how the narration would often repeat itself. I know these characters didn't resolve their issues with a snap on their fingers, but I do believe the narrator of certain things was a little bit too long. However, that was nothing too overwhelming that would take away from the amazing story and great writing.

I have a few books from Samanthe Beck on my TBR but they were never a priority. Having had the opportunity to see how she beautifully constructs her stories, I’m definitely reading the first one in the series and continuing exploring more books from her.

Complementary copy of this book was proved by NetGalley for my honest review and opinion.
Bridget and Archer have a past that didn't end well. Bridget is not quick to forgive even though Archer works hard for her mercy. The feelings from the past come back over and over until Bridget just can't hold them back. This is a great Alaskan romance with wonderful characters.

Playing Dirty in Alaska by Samanthe Beck was a great story. Although I have not read the first book in the series, I was able to read this one as a standalone with no issues. This is Bridget and Archer’s story and these two have a lot going on. These characters are well developed, and the storyline was strong. I enjoyed the story as it took place in Alaska, had humor, family bonds, and a hot second chance romance. There was a lot of struggle with these two, but well worth it. I strongly recommend this story.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with the ARC for my honest review.

Holy crap. I loved this book so much. Bridget and Archer's chemistry is INSANE. The spicy scenes, omg. 🔥 Some of the best sexy scenes in any book I have read.

I didn't read the first book but I definitely will now. Archer is perfection. He's the perfect level of bossy. He knows what he wants. He loves Bridget and always has. He's back in Alaska to win her back.

I enjoyed the side characters and their parts in the story. I love romance series books that have storyline that take place in multiple books. The friendships and family bonds in this book are very strong.

Not as good as Book #1. Whereas the 1st book played on the fake engagement trope, this 2nd chance romance didn't work nearly as well for me. Was an ok read.

I absolutely loved reading book two in Samanthe Beck's Captivity Alaska series, Playing Dirty in Alaska. When I read book one in the series, Wild in Captivity, I knew I wanted the backstory between the male lead's sister, Bridget, and her ex-boyfriend Archer. I will fully admit I am a total sucker for second chance romances and I always love finding out the backstory of why they broke up. Especially when it's for a good reason but they can't tell the other why but they always intend on going back to their loved one. And Playing Dirty in Alaska? It hit that box. I also enjoy that there is a tiny element of what might be paranormal activity with Bridget's brother's "ghost" visiting her in her sleep. Only time will tell if it's truly his ghost or if it has just been Bridget and Trace's psyche's trying to help them move on from the trauma of losing their brother. Personally I prefer it being a ghost haunting them, it's more entertaining that way.
With Bridget Shanahan's brother Trace going out of town on his honeymoon she has a lot on her plate, she has to take care of the family airport, and all the paperwork that comes with it and she now has to deal with the ex-boyfriend, Archer Ellison III, that broke her heart and sent her running from Stanford. But when she accidentally breaks her tailbone, in a bet to try and get Archer to stay away from her, she now has to rely on Archer to help her run the airport. Having to be confronted with Archer on a daily basis Bridget is starting to have feelings for him all over again, whether she wants to or not...
Archer never wanted to break up with Bridget but he felt like he didn't have a choice. Now that he's finally free of his overbearing family, running his own business he is free to do what he wants. So he goes to Captivity Alaska to build his new life and try to explain what happened between them. But it's going to take a lot of convincing to get Bridget to hear him out so they can have the life they were always supposed to have.

I love this kind of books, I love when the man was the first one in love and has to do everything to win the woman of his dreams, and this book had that.

AND I LOVE IT. IF you love that too, this one is for you.

I really enjoyed this story and loved Bridget! It took me a little while to warm up to Archer but he redeemed himself in the end.
Playing Dirty in Alaska is a small-town/second-chance romance with a whole heap of steaminess. It is the second book in the Captivity Alaska series but can be read as a standalone.
I adore Samanthe Beck's writing and will definitely be looking out for more of her work in the future.

Bridget isn't known for being responsible., but when her brother leaves the family's airfield in her hands, she knows it's time to step up. Of course, that's when Archer blows into town and reminds her that he was a mistake and definitely belongs in her past. Archer has only has two goals in life: build an empire outside his father's company and win back Bridget.

After a bet, Bridget is officially stuck with him. She does not plan to fall for him again, but fate has other plans.

This was a sweet and feisty second-chance romance. I enjoyed all of the characters and the story line. This was book number two in the Captivity Alaska series. It can be read as a standalone.

I love books set in Alaska, so I jumped at the opportunity to read Playing Dirty in Alaska. This is a second chance romance with some enemies to lovers vibes. Definitely some tension that turns into more, I enjoyed the push and pull between Bridget and Archer.
