A mixture of romance and mystery. This page turner takes you into the worlds of an unlikely pair whose lives seem to be falling apart as they fight to unite. Fast-paced and engaging. A great start to a series!
To be honest I didn't know if I would like this series because I didn't think it could stack up against The Kings Of The Castle or The Princes Of The Castle, however this book is off to a good start.
I loved the chemistry between Lani and Jordan. As much as she tried to distance herself from him, Jordan knew that it would be futile. I also loved the mystery surrounding this series. I can't wait for the next book in this series!!!
Authors Karen Bradley and Naleighna Kai are a literary force. Queen of Lahaina begins with heart-stopping drama and refuses to give up the reins until the last page.
The brilliant Doctor Lani Jamison is at the top of her game when it comes to robotic surgery. Who wouldn't want her to succeed? Not everyone is an admirer. On the other hand, Jordan Spears has his hands full. A wayward wanna-be-a thug brother who has placed Jordan in a precarious situation. Trying to save and forge a relationship with Lani, when she wants none puts Lani's life at risk.
The Queen of Lahaina wears a crown that would be too heavy for most.
What a great start to a hole new sereis that's connected to the Kings of the Castle and the Knights of the Castle. And here I thought the series couldn't get better but it just did . Fast pace from the very started and to the very end. The characters didn't let me down at all, each was strong in their own way and made the story come to life.
This book starts off a bit slow for me. I didn’t get a good feel for who the characters were until quite a few chapters into the book. At the beginning of the book I had a hard time forming a connection with the characters or any of the situations early in on the book.
There is so much going on that at times I feel like I’m not getting the whole story and other times I’m like why is this in here. Example: The party at the Castle, I didn’t know what I was supposed to know from this scene and others where I needed more when Jordan and Lani were getting to know each other. We never really lean anything, how do they like their eggs, what’s a favorite food, color. Simple thing that going to make the characters more realistic and relatable.
As you continue on in the book you find an original store line. It kept my interest and had me pondering what was going to happen next once I got to about five chapters into the book. Low amount of romantic engagement between the characters however there is plenty of drama to hold your interest. There is family drama, work drama, relationship drama and the airing out of some dirty secrets, which makes for a great read.
I loved that Lani showed strength throughout the book. Times where life was throwing Lani one obstacle after another she stood tall and didn’t back down from anyone. When she stood up to Jordan’s former lady employers it was fierce, I liked seeing that side of her. I do wish we would have gotten to see the protective side of Jordan come out. After the car accident, I wish there was more of a sense of urgency for Jordan to get to her. He seemed really passive at a time when I would have liked to see more emotion.
Seeing some of the characters from the Kings of the Castle series was great too.
The way everything tied together in the end was great. You got to see the Kings at work and how they handle any situation thrown at them.
The flow from the end of one chapter to the start of the next was choppy at times. It took a few paragraphs to understand what was going on and who was speaking. There is some time that passes by between chapters and that made it hard to follow at times.
Queen Of Lahaina is the first book in this new series by author Naleighna Kai and her tribe of authors. Queen of Lahaina has wonderful characters, great word building, romantic, steamy, entertaining, action packed, drama filled, secrets, mystery, tear jerker, funny situations, tragic, twisted all the makings of a fabulous read.
If you think that Kings Of The Castle and Knights Of The Castle were magnificent. You’re in for an awesome ride with the Queens. They are taking the readers on a journey that you wouldn’t believe. There are some new faces along with some of Kings and Knights all taking center stage. So, get yourself a box of tissues, extra large buttered popcorn and a big cup of your favorite drink and sit back and read, relax and enjoy.
Lani Jamison is a pediatric doctor and she has big plans for robotic surgery. Jordan Spears is founder of the Everett Center For Arts where he caters to the underprivileged children and children with disabilities.
Queen Of Lahaina is an excellent read and you will not want to miss this book. So, get you one-click-on and pre-order it. I know you will enjoy it just as much as I.
I received an ARC via the authors thru NetGalley, and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.
This was a great read. The suspense in this book kept you on the edge of your seat. This book was definitely a page-turner. There were many things about this book I loved.
