I throughly enjoyed this book. I typically don’t like the back and forth perspective because I sometimes get confused but I like it for this book. If you like thrillers then I’d say this is a good book for you. The ending plot twist was executed well. I honestly didn’t expect it.

Watch Out for Her

I really enjoy sitting down to a good mystery and this one definitely fits the bill. The story revolves around Sarah and Daniel Goldman and their very active six year old son Jacob. Sarah needs more in her life than being just a mother. So Daniel suggests Sarah get a babysitter for the summer while Jacob is off school and she can pick up her photography which she excels at.

Holly is from an extremely wealthy family. Her mother died giving birth to her and she’s living with a blended family now, a cold stepmother and a step sister, Alexis, whom she absolutely adores. Alexis is Holly’s best friend. They are each other’s best friend and spend all their free time together. Holly has completed her first year of med school with flying colours and her father, an owner of a pharmaceutical company is thrilled. He wants Holly to take over when he retires. He also uses a very beautiful Holly to convince his friends and other wealthy men to invest in the company. It’s something Holly hates doing but for dad she’ll do it. Daniel happens to be an acquaintance of Mr. Monroe, Holly’s dad. They belong to the same exclusive club.

Holly is looking for a summer job to make some cash so she jumps at the chance to look after Jacob. They liked each other immediately. Sarah is happy, Jacob is happy and Holly loves them both. To Holly, Sarah is the mother she wished she’d had. But…something happens and Sarah becomes very suspicious of Holly. She’s lost trust and wants to fire her. The distrust becomes so intent that Daniel offers to take a consulting job and they move from their spacious house in beautiful Vancouver to an older home with fewer amenities than their home in BC. The very day they move in Sarah feels that she’s being watched. She finds a hidden camera, disguised as a smoke alarm, in the master bedroom and other hidden cameras throughout the house. She has the sensation of being watched every where she goes and the old guy, who seems to live in the house across from hers, doesn’t help. Thinking you’re being watched and not being able to prove it is an awful sensation. Daniel starts to think Holly is losing it and isn’t much help. Then Holly starts to get messages from an unknown person. “I see you” is what one text says. It’s what Sarah and Holly often said to each other when their friendship developed. Now Sarah is convinced Holly is stalking her.

Is Sarah’s stalker Holly? This psychological mystery is an excellent read. It will keep you in suspense until the surprise ending.

Thank you to Simon and Schuster for allowing me to read and review Watch Out for Her. If you live a good mystery, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one.

Watch Out For Her lives up to all the media hype. Very Suspenseful and causes distrust among the reader as well as the characters. Great psycho-thriller. I never saw it coming.

Sarah Goldman and her family have moved across the country after a traumatic experience with a babysitter. But someone has followed them there and is watching.

I enjoyed read this one but I did figure out the twist and what was going on pretty early on. There were a few clues that I picked up on. I enjoyed the plot but the main character was so annoying to me and sometimes that effects the experience greatly.

“This is the problem with lies. They’re like fire. They start as a spark and become a five-alarm inferno in no time at all.”

Watch Out for Her comes out 4/26.

4.5 stars!! This is such a CLEVER novel. The build up is one of the best I’ve read in awhile. The twist is unexpected but chilling, and the characters are well thought out. I give props to author in the way she sculpted this novel. Goes back and forth between the two main protagonist. I’d recommend this for readers, and lovers of thrillers.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy most of this. Couldn’t relate to Sarah or Holly and the author never made me feel much for either one. Mostly I just thought they were unrealistic, exaggerated caricatures. Then the story wrapped up too neatly, with Sarah looking back on things that happened and knowing things that she couldn’t have actually know. Overall, this one is skippable.

This book was exactly what I needed to read right now. It pulled me out of the reading slump I was in and got me excited to pick up a book again.
From page one I was sucked in. The suspense was something you could just feel before anything even happened. It filled me with this anxiety and this drive to read and keep reading. I needed to know what happened, how this story unfolded, and where the final lines in the sand were drawn.
I definitely connected to Sarah and her love for her son, and that overwhelming fear that around every corner there is something to fear. I think as a parent that's just something that is in you, a protection mechanism that's engrained. Holly was on my radar from the get go. Nothing about any of her relationships was normal or healthy, that was very clear to see. Seeing these ladies lives and the lying and deception and the self justification was so frustrating at times, but I kept coming back for more.
I think it was just over half way through that I managed to sort a few things out that ended up coming to fruition. A few other things remained surprises till the end. If you want a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and up late into the night, then this book is a must for you.

I was excited to read this book and the pace of it did not disappoint. Once I got into it, I had a hard time putting it down because I just had to know what happened next.

Watch Out for Her is the story of Holly, a privileged young woman with a wealthy phram excec father and a stereotypical evil stepmother. Holly has secrets - she doesn't want to go to medical school any longer and her tactics for helping to close the deal for the family business are questionable at best.

Enter Sarah, Daniel, and Jacob Goldman- a young family who Holly begins babysitting for after being recommended to the family by her parents. Holly loves this family and becomes determined to fit in with them. Sarah is the mother she never had and she adores Jacob.

Following a falling out, the Goldmans relocate from Vancouver to Toronto for a fresh start to escape some drama. There, strange events begin to unfold. Cameras in the home, odd texts and phone calls, and a suspect neighbor all lead to Sarah feeling paranoid in her new home.

The story is fast moving and overall I enjoyed the book. After finishing, I felt that there were some unresolved questions that left me a little frustrated, and I found the ending a bit too far-fetched without more back story. Despite this, I still enjoyed reading the book.

This book had all the thrills chills and creepiness I’ve been looking for! The family dynamic, dark secrets, and intense moments has me on the edge of my seat. With varying perspectives we see obsessive and compulsive behaviors that are laid out in this cleverly intricate plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this book if you want a good creep session.

This was an excellent read, a thriller that made the hair on my arms stand on end. Two dysfunctional families with too many secrets. I don’t usually like it when the author titles their chapters by the characters names and it is like reading two different stories, this was done so well you had to keep turning the pages to read what would happen next. I did not see what was going to happen till the end. What an ending. “I see you” has a whole new meaning now. Chilling! I would recommend this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Watch Out For Her by Samantha M. Bailey is a ride into crazy town. A book featured a paranoid stay-at-home Mother of a hyper 2nd grader, a sketchy Dad who is always out at odd hours, a wealthy disinherited 22-year old who becomes the Nanny for this family with everybody spying on everyone because nothing adds up to normal. Nanny cams, cell phone tracking, and everyone always expecting the worst. This is no way to live. The ending is insane…literally. I loved it, and very fast-paced. Pub Date: 4/26

I have been seeing this one everywhere and was happy to get approved for this one on NetGalley! This one is a great psychological, domestic thriller that has you questioning who and what you can believe. At first I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this one, but as it went on I found myself engrossed in what was happening. While I had the twist figured out early on, I still enjoyed the way everything unfolded. I am a fan of books where you don’t know who you can trust and this whole book I was questioning everything and everyone. My biggest pet peeve in a book is when the main character doesn’t communicate to their spouse, so I was grateful this one had a ton of communication to make things feel realistic. I really didn’t dislike anything, I think I’m just getting burnt out on the domestic thriller thing and need a short break! Overall, highly recommend!

Thriller

I think this book may have suffered from the Sophomore Slump. As a book that is supposed to be a thriller/suspense/mystery none of that was really present. It took me 10 days to read it, which is a lot of time for me to spend reading a book. I wasn't engaged with the story or the characters.

The book is told in alternating POV's and timelines. Sarah is a stay at home mother who is trying to get back into photography and hopefully start earning some money from her photos. Holly is a 20ish woman going to medical school and working for her father's company on the side. Holly is very successful, but the way she closes some of her deals is not very ladylike. She wants to quit school and her job with the company. She is hoping to earn some good favor with her father by babysitting during the day for one of his friends.

Holly comes to love the babysitting and attaches very strongly to Sarah. Holly's mother died when she was little and she has never been close to her stepmother. Is Holly's obsession unhealthy?

Sarah, on the other hand, learns that she can see into Holly's bedroom with her camera lens. She sees something that leads her to believe that Holly isn't quite the innocent young woman she portrays to their family. Sarah cannot help but be captivated though, by the images she captures with her camera. Is Sarah obsessed with Holly?

Fast forward to Sarah and her family moving to another town completely after some kind of confrontation with Holly. Strange things start happening at the new house right away. Could Holly have followed them? Is their new neighbor interested in her husband? She keeps showing up unexpectedly. When security cameras show a figure between the houses, Sarah knows something is going on, but is unsure of the reason. Is she just overreacting after what happened with Holly?

The plotting of this book was a mess. Everything but the kitchen sink gets thrown in - blackmail, murder, stalking, etc. None of it felt fully formed and there are sidelines that just don't work. I think these sidelines are meant to help with the red herring aspect of the story, but fall short. None of the characters were likeable or feel complete. The character of Sarah is the most fully rounded, but her actions/thoughts/feelings are contradictory, so it's hard to get a grasp on who she is supposed to be. I believe this author has some good ideas, she just need to get her writing in line.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC of this novel.

Wow, this one sucked me in right from the beginning, "𝙄 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚."

Sarah Goldman is a stay at home mom and photographer and is on the verge of a breakdown. They hire Holly over the summer to help out, but soon start to question whether they can trust her at all, and everyone’s secrets start to unravel.

This story was an edge of your seat thriller, that kept you guessing and wanting to keep turning the page!

Told in two POVs from our main female characters, we are led through this story both in the present and “before.” I definitely kept second guessing everyone as I was reading this, I really didn’t know who we could trust.

The only thing preventing me from giving this one a full five star was I felt the plot lost me a little bit as things started to be revealed and I felt the ending was wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly for all the craziness that ensues.

Out on April 26th, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat!!

Wow wow! This was GOOD. I flew through the last half of the book in one sitting.

Watch Out for Her is about Sarah Golman, who is the mother of 6-year-old Jacob, moving across the country to escape secrets. One of those is Holly Monroe, Jacob's babysitter. What started as a perfect situation, with Holly finding Sarah to be a mother figure and Sarah having time to pursue her passion for photography, quickly turned sour. As Sarah uncovers truths about Holly, she finds out who she really is and what secrets she hides. Hoping that moving would help escape Holly, Sarah is in for a shock when strange things start happening in their quiet neighborhood.

Watch Out for Her is told through a dual perspective, both Holly and Sarah's point of view. The writing style was done so well that I was flying through each chapter to see what came next in the before and now. I also did not guess the ending right up until a few pages before it was revealed. The characters are well well-developed as you got to know them. I felt so sympathetic for Holly and despite Sarah being a complete helicopter mom, I can see where her tendencies arose from.

All in all, ADD THIS to your TBR pile right now!! I had so much fun reading this book and I think you will too.

Not sure if it was just me who thought this read was unbearable??? This book was the furthest thing from a “spine chilling thriller.” I was so disappointed and I’m so glad I finally finished this book. It took me about a month to actually get through this one as I could only read a few chapters at a time. The writing was all over the place and the storyline was based off miscommunication between the main characters. I found almost all of the characters in this book to be so pathetic and some characters were so irrelevant it made me question as to why they were even introduced to begin with.

To sum things up, Holly is hired as a babysitter for Sarah and Daniel Goldman and eventually becomes their live-in nanny after being kicked out of her home/family. She tries to find her place into the Goldman family in hopes they can see her as a daughter and take her in. She finds out that Daniel is hiding a secret and tries to find her own way to help him without Sarah finding out. In the end, things don’t turn out the way they want it and Holly’s secrets are revealed along with everyone else’s.

Overall, the read was not worth it and I’m surprised I even finish. The flip flop between prospectives was so difficult for me and only made sense at the end as to why it was written this way.

This book was fast paced and kept me really engaged throughout the whole story. I did get a bit frustrated during part of the story because I felt like the whole plot line was just a huge miscommunication between the two main characters. (Hopefully that’s not a spoiler? Lol)

I really enjoyed the then and now POVs. It was really well written and flowed perfectly to keep the reader intrigued.

I liked the ending - I felt like a lot happened in a short amount of time but I didn’t feel like it was too abrupt or that it was poorly executed.

I didn’t personally think this was a super sinister domestic thriller - but I still really enjoyed it!

Pretty decent thriller! Sarah and her husband need a sitter for her son and hire Holly. Holly needs a mom, so she fixates on Sarah. Sarah starts to wonder if Holly is up to no good, watches her and thinks she may be right. Sarah and hubby move, only for Sarah to discover that she is now the one being watched. I enjoyed the characterization, as both Sarah and Holly are people that I could actually know. There is not really a "bad guy" per se, but lots of twist and turns to keep it interesting. Look forward to more from this author!
