If you are a lover of all things psychological, thrilling and suspenseful, you DEFINITELY need to read Samantha M. Bailey’s latest release, Watch Out for Her. This book is fabulous, and I devoured every page. Great plot and wonderful characters. This one kept me on my toes. I had no idea what was going to happen next. A really enjoyable, hairs standing up on the back of your neck, kind of a read.
Samantha Bailey brings us a well written and engaging psychological thriller with a twist. Although it is very difficult to write an impressive, original, and unpredictable thriller, Samantha Bailey has provided readers with a dark but enjoyable read. The twist, somewhat predictable, still brought an intrigue to the story and I praise Samantha Bailey for her writing style. Just as I enjoyed her previous novel Woman On The Edge I was glad I read this story. With some plot holes and logic leaps, I find myself referring to this book as good, but not overwhelmingly impressive. I believe readers will enjoy this story but shouldn’t expect it to become their new favourite book of all time.
I was sooo pushing for a better ending but it ended the only way it could.
I enjoyed this story even though parts were a bit predictable as was the ending. The characters were nicely flushed out and the writing was smooth.
A definite must read.
I really enjoyed this quick thriller for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, I'm always a fan of books in locations that I know well, and being set in Toronto set a familiar scene.
Throughout the book, I had suspicions about where the story was going, and what the twists may be, but I never settled on one position. Thrillers where I don't guess the ending ahead of time always deserve praise in my opinion.
The multiple timeline/point of view really worked out to bring the story alive.
Overall, a great read that I'd recommend to many different readers.
I loved the previous novel by Samantha, but I liked this one and didn't love it. The characters were not very likable, which is fine, but it fell a bit flat for me and I struggled to finish this one. There are many amazing reviews out there and I definitely recommend this one, but it was just ok for me.
Watch Out for her was really enjoyable! I was invested in the story from the get-go & found it to be different from others in the thriller genre.
I enjoyed how this book started but by the end I was not liking it as much. I felt like it took a really weird turn that I just could not follow.
I didn't like any of the characters in this book. Sarah, the mom, seemed more creepy to me than Holly though it's her we're supposed to be scared of. At lease, Holly is still a kid though with huge, really huge issues. Ah, I'm just happy it's over. This book was just not my cup of tea.
A decent, quick thriller but the characters were bland and generally unlikable and am not a fan of dual timelines
Watch Out For Her by Samantha M. Bailey is a domestic thriller that follows main character Sarah, and her babysitting Holly. Sarah is working to redefine herself outside of being a mother, while Holly is desperately longing to belong to a part of a family where she feels accepted for who she is.
Often I find I get annoyed with books jumping between past and present, however I thoroughly enjoyed both Holly’s perspective in the past and Sarah in the present. While this book has quite a few twists and turns, I wouldn’t say any of them were unexpected for me and I mostly guessed the ending. I found both Holly and Sarah to be a bit unlikeable, however I sympathized with both of their perspectives.
Overall a fast paced fun read!
Wow this was almost creepy but very good. Places I had to put it down then others, I couldn't! Well written and absorbing.
I have to admit, I didn't see that one coming. Samantha Bailey knows how to tell a story, and
manages to keep ypu at the edge of your seat as she tells it. A story told from two perspectives, at two different times was almost hard to keep up with. but I really enjoyed the build up. Great book!
The cover and the synopsis sounded very appealing, but for whatever reason the writing just didn't live up to the premise. I really wanted to like this one, but the "wow" element just wasn't present.
This was a great, quick thriller made for those times when you want to fly through a book you can't put down. Very hand that rocks the cradle, this book will remind you of all those Dateline episodes you've been binging. A great vacation read, or for reading on the train — just don't miss your stop!
A great read by this author. I definitely recommend checking this one out!

At first, I really struggled getting into this book. The characters were really unlikable and I felt that it was a bit slow moving. But then, the plot really took off and I became more engrossed in the reading. I definitely wasn’t able to guess the twists, which I always appreciate in a thriller. If you enjoy slow burn domestic thrillers, you’ll enjoy this one!
I was hesitant to read this book because I'm not a huge fan of domestic thrillers. At first, I was not enjoying it much. I found the characters to be frustratingly obsessive and unlikeable. As the book went on, the plot intensified and became a bit more engaging. In the end, it is a solid 3 stars for me.
The book is told in dual timelines. In the present, Sara Goldman, her husband, and her son are moving into a new home in a new city. It immediately becomes clear that they have run away from something in their previous city, and they are on edge, especially Sarah. She finds hidden cameras in the new home and feels like she is being watched. Her husband does not seem as concerned about these things, making the reader believe that maybe Sarah is paranoid. Then, the timeline switches to a few months before when the Goldmans hired a new babysitter for their son. Holly Munroe seems like a perfect babysitter at first, but Sarah begins to suspect that there are secrets Holly is concealing.
The chapters alternate timelines and character point of view. They are told from Sarah's and Holly's perspectives, so the reader gets some insight into both of their feelings and motivations. The plot is well constructed to keep the reader in suspense as to what is really going on and who is responsible for the things that are happening to the Goldman's in the present timeline.
I would have enjoyed the book more if at least one of the characters had been likeable. I struggled to feel sympathy for anyone. I also am not a fan of domestic thrillers as previously stated, so the fault may not be entirely in the book. It is just not to my tastes.
Overall, I found the book to be okay. I am not likely to want to reread it, but I would recommend it to fans of domestic thrillers with dual timelines and suspicious characters.
If you're looking for a domestic thriller to binge, be sure to grab this one! This one has a little bit of everything I love in a domestic thriller - unreliable characters that give you trust issues, strong female leads, and twists that you don't see coming! I do wish some of the chapters had been shorter - I tend to prefer shorter chapters in a thriller (idk why!) but overall this was a quick, enjoyable read.
Thank you to Simon& Schuster Canada and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A young woman tries to entwine herself into a family whose young son she babysits. Wanting nothing more than to become a part of this family and she is willing to do whatever it takes.
Another almost Did not Finish, this one was rough for me. I did not love any of the characters, found the writing style amateurish and the plot slow.
Sarah and Daniel hire a new sitter, Holly, to watch their child. Sarah starts out watching Holly out of mistrust, and the plot becomes "who is watching who" to a degree it became tiresome and not super thrilling.
Not a high recommendation on this one, but thankful for the ARC
