Thank you NetGalley and Simon and Shuster Canada for egalley for review. This is one of the best thrillers I have read in a while! There are so many twists that keep you guessing until the very end. Sarah, Daniel and their son Jacob leave Vancouver suddenly and head to Toronto and we follow them as they try to make a new start. They soon figure out you can’t run from your past and Sarah can’t trust anyone she meets in their new neighbourhood, even those she is closest to. Each chapter keeps you hanging just enough that it’s hard to stop reading. 5 stars!
This was my second book by Samantha and it was such a delicious read. I enjoyed the past and present pov going back and forth between holly and Laura. I thought the twist at the end was very good as well. I loved the Canadian scenery and imagery as well. This book was one that I quickly flew through which I love in books. Bailey is an auto buy author now for me.
Awesome read! Lots of creeptastic moments. Sure, there's a few of those shake your head moments where you wonder "WHY????" would they allow this or not ask questions or get the hell out of Dodge, and I did figure out who the actual culprit was - but that's probably because I've been reading so many thrillers these days. I thoroughly enjoyed breezing through the pages.
This book has very memorable characters and the writing was good, but the storyline unfortunately wasn’t my favourite!
Thank you Netgalley for providing my copy of this book to read and review.
I loved the pacing of the book with the short chapters. The way it jumped from Sarah's point of view now with Holly's point of view in the past was done so well. I had no idea what was going to happen until the end!
Great read and highly recommend.
I found that reading this book I couldn’t tell who was crazy. I was sure I was supposed to be “watching out” for the babysitter, but as I got further into the book, I wasn’t sure if it was the narrator. Or what about the neighbor?! It definitely threw me for a loop. I didn’t find it as thrilling as I would have liked, but it was definitely good for a fast and suspenseful read.
Thanks to Netgalley, Simon & Schuster, and Samantha Bailey for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book really took me on a ride. There were unexpected twists and turns. I really enjoyed the back and forth narrative of past (Holly) and present (Sarah). Parts of this story were a little too cheesy for me especially the obsession of Holly with this family. It didn’t seem believable and I felt like because of that there were some holes in the plot. Also, I’m still suspicious of Tara (and how she called Jacob “Jakey”) even though I’m finished reading and know that she didn’t have anything to do with this stuff. This book held my attention once I got into it and I enjoyed that I couldn’t predict what happened.
This is a classic suspense novel that really gets to the heart of why secrets and lies are so dangerous. At 41 Sarah Goldman is in middle age, and is in a bit of a marriage slump. Daniel, her husband seems to be somewhat disconnected and while she loves him, he isn’t really providing for her emotional needs as much as she would like. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Holly Monroe, a bright, vivacious 22 year old, who comes from wealth and seems to have everything under control and she looks amazing while doing it. Sarah agrees to hire Holly to help babysit their 6 year old son, Jacob. It seems like a perfect fit, he loves her and she seems like a responsible person. Of course, appearances are always deceiving and no one in this story is who they seem to be. Soon enough, Sarah’s insecurities creep to the surface and she begins to question Holly’s motives concerning her husband, Daniel. A falling out soon occurs and the family moves hundreds of miles away to escape from Holly. Just as they are settling in, a series of eerie text messages have Sarah worried that a vengeful Holly may have followed them. Hoping to confront Holly and end the games for good, Sarah plans to expose Holly as her tormentor, in the hopes that they can all finally move on for good. I think perhaps there is a little Sarah in all of us, especially us moms approaching middle age. Of course, Sarah seems to live a bit in the extreme. I felt a certain amount of understanding and sadness for all the characters in this story. They all seem to be somewhat trapped in expectations that are set for them, and that ends up becoming very toxic. The ending to this story is fairly twisted, and comes as a bit of a surprise. This story is a perfect storm of drama, and did a good job of holding my attention while telling the story of these 2 women who have a lot more in common than they ever really realize. Review posted to Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, Litsy, and LibraryThing.
I found the writing in this one not great, and there weren't any characters I liked or wanted to root for! Also, it felt like there were still so many loose ends at the ending?? Not the twisty thriller I was hoping for.
This is another psychological with family dynamics being the heart of the story. One gripping fact of the book is that the reader keeps changing her alliances with the various characters.
Holly has been the one who had made her father’s career so successful——taking “care" of his clients. When Holly refuses to be part of the family business and leaves Medical school she is disowned by her wealthy family.
Convinced all she needs is to be is part of a loving family she makes her herself indispensable to Sarah and her family in hopes of becoming part of their lives as a nanny. But Holly’s half sister is feeling disconnected when her sister leeches on to this new “home” and has her own ideas of how to fix this.
Sarah’s husband Daniel has hidden addictions that forces the family to uproot and move to another city. That and Holly’s obsessive behavior makes an unattenable situation for Sarah.
But there’s something odd happening in her new attempt at starting over. Hidden cameras in the new house. Texts from unknown senders. Sarah’s plan for a fresh start is not going as planned.
An enjoyable page turner that has the reader, again, amazed by how families can destroy each other…at least in this novel.
I’m coming at you today with one of the best thrillers I have read in a while! “Watch Out For Her” was one of my most anticipated 2022 reads! I absolutely loved Samantha Bailey's novel “Women On The Edge” so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this novel!
This book definitely didn’t disappoint!
It was fast paced, I absolutely loved the storyline and so many interesting and dynamic characters.
The story was told in duel timelines flashing back and forth between the past and present and from different characters POV (all of which I love!) The chapters left you always wanting to read more and uncover all the secrets this book has to offer!
Thank you so much Simon Schuster Canada and Samantha Bailey for the advanced copy!
The great news is, Pub Day is right around the corner and you will definitely want to get a copy! (April 26) 💛🥳
I enjoyed this thriller from Samantha Bailey and am excited to see what she comes out with next.
Sarah Goldman, mother to six-year-old Jacob, is relieved to move across the country. She has a lot she wants to leave behind, especially Holly Monroe, the pretty twenty-two-year-old babysitter she and her husband, Daniel, hired to take care of their young son last summer. It started out as a perfect arrangement—Sarah had a childminder her son adored, and Holly found the mother figure she’d always wanted. But Sarah’s never been one to trust very easily, so she kept a close eye on Holly, maybe too close at times. What she saw raised some questions, not only about who Holly really was but what she was hiding. The more Sarah watched, the more she learned—until one day, she saw something she couldn’t unsee, something so shocking that all she could do was flee.
Sarah has put it all behind her and is starting over in a different city with her husband and son. They’ve settled into a friendly suburb where the neighbors, a tight clique of good citizens, are always on the lookout for danger. But when Sarah finds hidden cameras in her new home, she has to wonder: Has her past caught up to her, and worse yet, who’s watching her now?
I seem to always enjoy thrillers where a character has run away, but the past is coming back to haunt them in mysterious ways. I wanted to know what caused Sarah and Daniel to move, and that kept me eagerly flipping the pages. I also enjoyed the alternating timelines.
I recommend this for any psychological thriller fan!
What a thrilling, but a creepy read!! The mystery was fantastic and sad. Lies, secrets are in abundance.
The book is full of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages.
Sarah and Daniel Goldman, our protagonists and their lives are entwined with their babysitter, Holly, who their young son Jacob adores.
So, what is the ominous warning for?!!
To find out, you gotta read it!! A truly thrilling, chilling and creepy book!!
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A thrilling and entertaining read. Seeing something you can not unsee and discovering your past may not be left in the past. A great edge of your seat thriller.
Thank you to #netgalley for giving me an ARC for an honest review without spoilers. I LOVED this novel, I started it on Monday and if I didn't have to go to work the next day, I easily would've finished it in a day, I could not put it down. But unfortunately, I need to be alert at my job, so I had to put it down and finished it last night. Full of suspense and intrigue. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
At first, Sarah is thrilled to have someone helping her care for her energetic son. As much as she adores Jacob, keeping up with him while her husband, Daniel, works all the time has left her drained. And 22-year-old Holly seems perfect—a medical student whose parents are known to them from the exclusive Canyon Club where they all belong.
But Sarah soon begins to have misgivings about gorgeous Holly, who she initially viewed as a friend and she agrees to Daniel’s suggestion they move across the country, to a fresh start in Toronto. Finding hidden cameras in their new house the very first day puts Sarah into a tailspin. Did Holly follow them? What’s the story behind new neighbors Tara and Ezra?
My favorite kind of book right now is suspense that grabs me from the first page and keeps me guessing until the last, and WATCH OUT FOR HER definitely delivers. #WatchOutforHer #NetGalley
A new psychological thriller centred on a mother and the lengths she will go to ensure her family is safe.
Sarah, Daniel, and six-year-old Jacob move across the country to Toronto to escape the mess that was created after hiring a new young babysitter. As things start to fall apart in her new home, Sarah starts questioning and looking for answers to what really went on with the babysitter. But, sometimes the answers are not what you are looking for and sometimes they come too late. Highly recommended. Good read.

This fun, twisty thriller will keep you guessing until the end! And just when you think you know what is what and who is who, the story keeps throwing curves at you.
Each chapter ends with a cliffhanger, keeping me hooked throughout the story. There were some parts that dragged on a bit, but overall I was engaged and invested in discovering how Holly's and Sarah's stories would end. As a mom, I definitely related to Sarah, and really felt for her. In the end, not everyone is how they seem. There were some shockers and surprises along the way.
I have read lots of thrillers and this one managed to keep it fresh and unique. There are only so many surprises that can crop up in these domestic thrillers, but the author managed to surprise me. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a page turner!
Thrillers are not my go-to genre but I do enjoy about one a month, and this one did NOT disappoint!! I really enjoyed Samantha Bailey's uniquely written first thriller (Woman on the Edge) last year but I think in some ways I loved this new one of hers even more! Watch Out For Her is told in two perspectives (a mom and a babysitter) and with a bit of a before and present timeline (though not far apart in timing). I really had no idea throughout the book just what was happening and how it was all going to resolve. I found myself, as the reader, untrusting of everyone except maybe the small children in the book, LOL. Moments of the book were chilling, and I found myself flipping kindle pages extremely rapidly trying to get to the bottom of all this and which "her" you should be watching out for. Every single person in this book is keeping secrets and it's hard to decipher which secrets are the really, really bad ones. I loved the ending, which some people might have anticipated, but I surely did not, even one little bit #tootrusting LOL.
If you're looking for a book to keep you on the edge of your seat or a great thriller to take with you on vacation this summer, this one would be a great choice. Can't wait to read whatever Samantha Bailey writes next.
I read Samantha Bailey's first book last year and absolutely devoured it. So when I received a copy of Watch Out for Her from @simonandschusterca I was ecstatic! As expected, I couldn't put this one down. The story took so many wild turns that I was always on the edge of my seat, and read it almost entirely in one sitting.
Starting over with husband Daniel and her son Jacob in Toronto, Sarah hopes she can finally leave Vancouver behind. When her husband insisted on hiring a nanny so Sarah could focus on her photography, Sarah didn't think anyone would be up to the task. But then 22 year old Holly came along, and Jacob loved her. While Holly found the mother figure she was missing, Sarah was looking at Holly a little too closely. When everything starts to unravel, and Sarah starts to think Holly and Daniel are more than what they seem, they relocate to start fresh. Although it doesn't seem like Sarah left everything or everyone behind like she thought...
I love a thriller that throws me for a loop, and this one certainly did. I was so suspicious, I was so anxious, and I did NOT see the ending coming. I was concerned that everyone was involved in something shady except for the person who ended up being the crazy one! I can say without a doubt that Samantha M Bailey NEEDS to be on your list of auto-buy thriller authors!
