This right here, is a book of the year.
Watch Out for Her, has been circling on social media for quite some time now. So of course, you know, the fear of missing out kicked in and decided I needed to join the party.
Boy oh boy, was I in for a treat!!!!
Samantha Bailey knocks this book right out of the park. There is not one thing I could even imagine critiquing as this is literary perfection. From start to finish I was completely and totally obsessed.
Watch Out For Her, is perfectly narrated, the characters are multi-dimensional, the twist was mind blowing and oh my God! The ending ??? Out of this world.
Please, please, do yourself a favor, go buy this book!
I’ll tell ya, @sbaileybooks has an uncanny skill for writing stories that are just the perfect amount of unsettling, creepy and tense. Her latest masterpiece is coming out this week and you most certainly are going to need this for your summer must read pile.
I loved that this story starts off right in the middle of the action, family on the run, seemingly having left their possibly unstable nanny behind but not entirely sure she hasn’t stalked them to the other side of the country.
A mom who doesn’t seem perfectly stable herself, fraught with paranoia and uncertainty of who or what she can trust. A tight undercurrent of impending doom as you start to unravel what happened to send them on the run to begin with.
Give me a well done book with chapters and moving perspectives jumping back to let the story unfold and the crumb trail slowly reveal the whole twisted mess, who was lying, who made mistakes and who was right all along. No spoilers but I really didn’t have any idea where this one was going until the very last 1/3 of the book, at which time I was well and truly hooked. You will be too.
@sbaileybooks my friend, I don’t know how your brain cooks this stuff up but I cannot wait to see what comes next.
Thank you @simonschusterca for the copy and starting my spring reading off in a deliciously devious direction.
Sarah Goldman, mother to six-year-old Jacob, is relieved to move across the country and leave behind her son's babysitter, 22-year-old Holly Monroe. The babysitter betrayed Sarah's family - and was herself betrayed by her family. But the Goldman's may not be free from the vixen yet.
Someone's watching them.
The flow is fairly smooth, and each chapter ends on a cliffhanger that kept me wanting to read on. I appreciated that the salacious content is subdued rather than graphic.
There are several twists in this book, but they're not "edge of my seat." Also, the end is predictable, which was a letdown. And many of the details felt a bit disconnected.
I read this book in one day, which I recommend. The dual timeline from past to present can be confusing and made it hard to get back into the flow when I took a reading break.
If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will give you the shivers, Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey will surely fit the bill. Sarah lives with her six-year-old son, Jacob and her husband, Daniel. In order to free up some time in Sarah’s busy life, Holly, a twenty-two-year-old, is hired to look after Jacob. Before long, a suspicious Sarah is casting a suspecting eye on the baby-sitter. A series of events will occur, upsetting the family so much that they will re-settle in another city, far away. But moving does not seem to solve their problems and strange occurrences are still happening around the young family. The characters in this book are well-developed and deliciously flawed and will fascinate readers. The plot has tension upon tension. Every turn of the page will bring more surprise, shock and, at times, terror. Watch Out for Her is a superior thriller that keeps intrigue and lies flowing and the ending is shocking. I look forward to reading more novels by Samantha M. Bailey. Thank you to Simon & Schuster, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked the set up of this one. When Sarah and her family move cross country, as a reader we know she’s running from something but we don’t know what. We do know there was a babysitter she watched and secrets galore. This psychological thriller kept me on my toes to an ending I did not see coming!

I really enjoyed reading WATCH OUT FOR HER. The plot was different from what I’m usually reading. I also love multiple POV’s and dual timelines. It always adds to the mystery and suspenseful of the story! Some of the story felt a little far fetched for me but I didn’t see the twist at the end coming!
Thank you to Netgalley the author and Simon & Schuster Canada for the advanced e-copy of Watch Our For Her by Samantha Bailey in exchange for an honest review! This psychological thriller started out fast paced and kept me engaged and needing to know what happened. And who doesn’t find the thought of someone watching them in their own home scary 👀 From finding nanny cams in your home to believing your neighbor is watching you from your porch - it kept me guessing if there was someone really doing things to Sarah from outside the home, if it was from inside the home or it was in her head.
This included some of my favourite things in thrillers - short chapters, alternating view points & alternating timelines. This format always keeps me engaged and reading far past my bedtime. Highly recommend picking it up if you're looking for a quick, entertaining read this summer!
Holly becomes a live-in Nanny for the Goldman family. Holly loves the family and their son, Jacob. Jacob adores Holly. It seems like the perfect fit. But is Holly a perfect Nanny? Or is there something sinister about Holly? The Goldman family moves across the country, but their problems may have followed them and told from Sarah’s and Holly’s point of view, shifting between the present day and the past. The reader pieces together both Sarah and Holly’s stories. Leaving the reader wondering which version of the story is accurate. And which woman
cannot be trusted. This is an addicting propulsive read that will keep you on the edge of .your seat until the final page.
Absolutely intriguing story that will have you gripped to find out what will happen next. Well written How will this all turn out.
I absolutely loved ‘Woman On The Edge’ so when I saw the news of ‘Watch Out For Her’ coming I was beyond excited! Both these books have such great twists and they’re the perfect books if looking for a quick and bingeable psychological thriller!
Sarah, Daniel and their 6-year-old son Jacob move across the country to start a new life, including getting away from their young hired baby sister - Holly Monroe. Thinking they’ve escaped their past life and are safe now, fear continues to linger and Sarah must keep watch and protect her family at all costs.
Every single chapter ended on a cliffhanger which makes you not able to put the book down! I had suspicions about every single character in this. It was definitely a great ride!
Also thank you so much to Simon and Schuster Canada for the advanced ebook copy of this fantastic book! If you’re heading to the bookstore this week and are in need of a thriller, definitely pick this one up! 🙌🏻
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
Very engaging, kept me reading with interest to the end.
I didn't find Watch Out For Her as edge of your seat as Woman on the Edge but it was still a great thriller with lots of unseen twists and turns. Samantha is like an illusionist, she has you looking over here when you should really be noticing what is happening over there. It makes her books thoroughly enjoyable to read.
I love Samantha Bailey's writing and the fact that she is Canadian. I love reading her novels and actually knowing the places she is talking about because I have lived there or visited that city. I cannot wait to read future books from Samantha, she added herself to my list of favorite authors with Woman on the Edge and solidified her standing on the list with Watch Out For Her.
I didn't love this book and I didn't hate - it was a decent enough psychological thriller. It was a little bit slow and I think I struggled because I didn't particularly like Sarah or Holly. Both of them seemed a little crazy. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.
Watch Out for Her is a psychological thriller.
The book is set in Canada and alternates between Sarah 1st person POV (now) and Holly 3rd person POV (before). This back and forth really worked for me. Both the "now" and "before" chapters were equally interesting. Plus they were only a few months apart in time.
Sarah is a 40ish photographer. She is Daniel's wife and Jacob's mom. Holly is their 22 year old babysitter.
For the most part I found this book to be quite interesting. I was fascinated by the story. And I was curious to see what the big reveal would be and how the story would end. I absolutely love stalkers and unhinged characters. So I did enjoy the fact that many of the characters had major faults. My only issues would be that I wanted more drama and a more shocking reveal at the end. But overall I did enjoy this book.

Thank you @netgalley and @simonandschuster for the E-Arc.
You think you know but you don’t!
Step back, have a shot of your favorite drink and get ready for this tense thriller. You are spinning as you can’t keep up with the real villains.
Daniel and Sarah Goldman have relocated trying to forget their summer babysitter
Holly who was hired to care for Jacob their six year old son. As a photographer Sarah is observant and kept a close watch on Holly even though they all loved her.
Sarah and Holly grew closer, everyone was happy and comfortable until Sarah’s close watch sees unimaginable acts.
The Goldmans move away for a fresh start in a suburban neighborhood with attentive, friendly neighbors. Then Sarah finds hidden cameras in her new home. Always the watcher…now someone is watching her!
Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey was an interesting story full of suspense and surprising twists and turns. Sarah and her husband hired a nanny, Holly, for their son, who they loved. And Holly loved the family just as much. They were what she never had and always wanted. But as the story unfolds, we learn there is so much more going on. Holly’s family will do whatever it takes to ensure the success of their company and expect her to do the same. Sarah finds it hard to trust and let someone in. When a discovery is made, Sarah decides to move her family. But now someone is watching them. What does it mean? Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey was a captivating read.
Happy reading!
Samantha Baily writes quick reads that capture your attention from page one. This one was no different.
The twist in this one was awesome. While it did feel alittle dragging and gaslighting was kind of there. I still enjoyed this book.
Watch Out for Her was an enjoyable read, but not quite as engaging as Bailey's first book, Woman on the Edge. Fans of that book will find it is more of a slow burn, but there is payoff in the end. I, for one, did not predict the climax.
I appreciate the opportunity to read it in advance through NetGalley, and I'll certainly be watching for Bailey's next book.

Seriously, watch out!
⏰ 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫: Sarah and her husband Daniel are moving away from Holly, aka the psycho babysitter, to start a new life in Toronto. Except wassup with finding hidden cameras in their new house? And the strange anonymous texts landing regularly in Sarah’s phone? Has Holly followed them? What lengths will she go to to reclaim her “new family”?
💡𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Ahhh the psycho babysitter is a bit cliché so I worried at first it would be another “been there, read that” situation, but nope; this book is written well and the plot advanced quickly. The “domestic thriller” has become a difficult one to navigate since Gone Girl and a heap of wanting-to-be-that books lined up behind it (leading to tropes galore!), but Watch Out separates itself by being a bit less “shocking” and a bit more character driven, with constant questioning of which of these well-painted characters are trustworthy.
Alternating between Sarah and Holly’s POV, it becomes clear we could have an unreliable narrator… or do we? Or are they both unreliable? Or are they both truthful? Layering their personal lives, outlooks, and motivations (including flaws) made for a riveting foil relationship between the two women.
Only issue was that the ending was predictable, but the reading ride was smoothly paved and enjoyable with only those minor bumps.

📚𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: Domestic Thriller/Mystery
😍𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨: It’s a perfect middle-road mystery. Light on fire, heavier in psychological, and a quick page-turner
🙅♀️ 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨: If you’re working out on domestic mysteries, this fits that category to a “T”
Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Simon & Schuster/Canada for my advanced copy in exchange for my always-honest review and for thanking the stars I am kid-free and thus babysitter free!
This book was by no means “bad”, but it also didn’t do anything for me. I found myself bored and wishing for it to be over. Kind of ehh.
