This was a bit slow starting out but it sucked me in as I got to know all the characters and wanting to see how they were going to conquer Varujan's father. Man did I despise that guy. Talk about evil! I felt like this was a bit unique approach to vampires and the many others in this paranormal world. I think there is more to learn, so I will definitely continue with the series. Also, the narrator was really good. This was an easy book to listen too if you like audiobooks.

Between Bloode and Stone is the story of a dusk elf who is desperate to find someone to defeat the master vampire who held her brother and herself hostage, subjecting her brother to years of torture. She knows they are currently being hunted by the vampire, so time is of the essence.
She is sure that a vampire of the same clan is what’s needed, and she’s found identified the one that she thinks is powerful enough. The vampire turns out to be more difficult to control than she expected, and she falls in lust with him soon after meeting. She and her brother become integrated into his wisecracking Scooby gang made up of vampires, a magician, and the goddess Hecate, all in pursuit of neutralizing the big bad vampire. (This was an audio version and I don’t think I could begin to attempt to spell all of the names.) This was a fun, action-packed story that will appeal to YA and fantasy readers. It ended with a hint that there is more to come, but it was just a glimpse and not the dreaded cliff-hanger.
The audio narration was excellent.

I have mixed feelings on this one. While I'm intrigued to read the next one in the series, this one was hard to get into. I felt like the first half was boring and too much time with vampires standing around. The battles felt rushed and basically glossed over. The love interest is weird. The I love you, but I don't love anyone vibe is a little eye rolling. I think another pass at this book could shape it into a good series.

Sexy vampires? Check! Sexy Elves? Check! Enough steam to get you heated? Check! Check! Check! An intriguing power struggle between man and woman, another between leaders and followers and finally one between father and son all overlaying and intwining to make an incredibly creative story to delight and entertain for hours. I must say that the narrator does an outstanding job of mesmerizing the listener so they don't want to stop listening to the book until it is finished! This is my first book from this author and I absolutely look forward to more from her especially since this book leads you to believe that there will be more stories for these characters to come! If you like strong women, even stronger men and fabulously creative paranormal stories then this is a book that you should not miss!
