The second book in the Duchess of Love series by Sally MacKenzie is Surprising Lord Jack. With shades of The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer, I was worried this would be a pale imitation of one of my favorite books. MacKenzie made it come around into a delightful romp between Jack and Frances. Frances trying to find a way to live a life of freedom from the tyranny of men, her male relatives have been horrible to her. Jack is trying to save women and children in peril and try to catch a serial killer that is killing society girls and women on the streets who are indiscreet.

The Duchess of Love hovers in the background to help as needed and work her magic so love blooms.
