Series: K-9 Special Ops - Book 1
Genre: Romance
Main Characters: Tori & Deck
Rating: 4 Stars

This story follows Tori and Deck, Tori is a ER doctor who mistrusts the DEA, Deck is a DEA Agent with a K-9 partner with a distrust of doctors. Needless to say it was a match made in heaven! Both characters have valid reasons for the distrust of each others professions but with a new drug outbreak killing people they must work together to stop this drug from hurting anyone else.

While this is a romance and is extremely fun to see Tori and Deck look past each others positions to the people it was also fun to try and solve the mystery with them of who was creating and distributing this drug. I had multiple guesses by the end of the book and I was not disappointed by the ending!

For me though the breakout star of this book will always be Thor, the K-9 Officer. I believe the next books in the series will be with new leads that we have, potentially, already met in other K-9 officer friends of Deck and I look forward to reading their stories!

There is a drug overdose explosion happening in the Denver area. A very deadly opioid nicknamed gray death is causing havoc. Many deaths! DEA K-9 Agent Adam "Deck" Decker and his canine partner Thor are part of a federal task force trying to track down the drug's supplier. ER Doctor Tori Sampson is very upset about all the overdose victims being brought into the Emergency Room where she works. When Tori meets Deck it is "dislike at first sight." Both Tori and Deck have backgrounds which do not lend themselves to like each other. I really like how this author has Tori and Deck overcome their issues and brings them together for a Happily Ever After. This is a fast-paced, action-packed romantic suspense story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book was fantastic. It was about a real and very scary issue that our society deals with today. Loved the hot DEA agent and the spicy ER doctor together. The romance was hot with great suspense. This was very well written with great conflict. A recipe for a great read that kept me reading straight to the end. The lovable K-9 made the book even better. Huge thanks to Entangled Publishing and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. Tee O'Fallen books have quickly become some of my favorites to read and recommend.

Romantic suspense between a physician who doesn’t trust DEA agents and a K-9 DEA agent who doesn’t trust doctors. Can they work together to arrest the supplier of “gray death”? An interesting story that kept me guessing until the end. If you enjoy romance novels with suspense this could b the book for you. Above all, the dog lives.

Tough Justice is a good read, full of action and romance. DEA agent Adam “Deck” Decker watches in horror as one Denver hospital seems to be Ground Zero for overdoses of a new drug. Now Deck can only hope a certain icy, ER doctor, Dr. Tori Sampson, will help him and his canine partner Thor track down the deadly source.
Dr. Sampson resents the DEA for the way they treated her father. Deck doesn't like doctors for reasons of his own. The novel starts with these two at loggerheads. "Where can this relationship go?", the reader wonders. In the meantime, the bad drug going through down is hard to find. Who is the kingpin behind that? We'll find the shocking answer by the end of the book. I have to admit that a downside to Tough Justice is some lame dialogue, mostly at the end, when Tori finds herself in the hospital wondering her future. The lovely Thor is a true plus of the novel.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

I love this series, and each book seems to get better and better.
Tori is an ER doctor with a family secret that makes her leery of Federal Agents. So, when she is on call and has to save one from exposure to a deadly drug, she is leery. Especially when his partner, Deck, shows up the next day asking her to help train his fellow officers in how to administer life saving interventions if any other officer is exposed again. Deck has his own past to overcome, and his own reasons to distrust doctors. Can Tori and Deck overcome their pasts to give in to the chemistry heating up between them?
Loved the characters, the plot, while predictable, was quick reading and hooked me from the start. Can't wait until the next book.

Can I give this book more than 5 stars, please? Tough Justice was so good, I couldn’t put it down. Deck and Tori both had their own hangups about the other’s profession. But the chemistry was off the charts, so much so that they couldn’t deny it for long. The suspense had me on the edge my seat multiple times. I can’t wait to hear more about Deck’s friends.

I loved this book from beginning to end, throw together an ER Doctor who doesn't like what the DEA did to her family years ago and a DEA Agent not fond of Doctors because of what happened to his sister and you have a recipe for action, adventure and hot chemistry. Can't forget the K-9 Thor who played a big part in this story. Tee is a new author for me and I was not disappointed can't wait to see where this story goes and what's to come from her. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Great read

Suspenseful- I honestly didn’t suspect the people involved until towards the end, and I just loves when that happens in a story. The romance— I didn’t feel sparks flying until halfway through the book, and I’m ok with that. Then the end- very exciting! Tee O’Fallon always delivers!

Tori is a great ER physician, dedicating herself to this new drug epidemic going on in her town. When an injured DEA agent ( why did it have to be a DEA agent) comes in through her ER doors that last thing she needs is another tough guy agent standing in her way. Deck is a DEA agent and K9 officer with a huge distrust of doctors, from an unfortunate family situation when he was younger, so when he meets Tori and fnds out she’s a doctor he’s not sure if she’s the real deal or not, but her dedication to the end of opioid abuse is just as strong as his. Tori is soon joining Deck, and his canine Thor, on some outings to try to uncover what’s going on in their town and their constant interaction soon brings about some sexual tension that boils over into a hot relationship. Unfortunately their problems soon come to a head when they become too close to the truth. This is another great K9 suspenseful romance by this author, that does deal with some heavy and relevant issues, which may be tough for some, but the way she writes about the relationship between Tori and Deck, is truthful and heartwarming. Thor is also really delightful. It looks like it’s the beginning of a great new group of guys, all K9 officers in their own way, and hopefully their stories are coming. I highly recommend this book, and this author if you like dogs, a bit of realism, lots of sexual tension buildup, and a bit of suspenseful action. 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed an arc copy of this book. All thoughts an opinions are my own.

Tough Justice (K-9 Special Ops, #1) by Tee O'Fallon
This is the first book in this series and the first of Tee O'Fallon's I have read. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I enjoyed all the characters (or most of them) in this book and I fell head over heels for DEA K-9 agent Adam "Deck" Decker and ER Dr. Tori Sampson. It was almost hate and distrust at first sight - but that doesn't last long. There is evil, violence, drugs, fear, laughter, tears, angst, a plot that keeps you turning pages and enough steam (and a wonderful dog) to get us to a very HEA. I am looking forward to reading more of Tee's books.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed Easy-to-read Entertaining Funny Great word building Happily Ever After Page-turner Romantic Scary Steamy Tear-jerker Tragic Unpredictable Wonderful characters

I'm a big reader of suspense romance books and Tough Justice fit all the checkboxes that I like in my books - likeable characters, complex backgrounds, good suspense and action-packed, a dog (seriously - I'm a sucker for a hero with a dog), and a believable love buildup (IMO, only a few suspense romance books get insta-love right so I'm not a fan of that romance tactic).

Deck and Tori both have a background that leads each of them to despise the other immediately. Tori, an ER doctor dislikes Deck immediately due to a grudge against the DEA. Deck, on the other hand, is a DEA agent with a distrust of doctors. They come together to combat the opioid crisis while the rise of a deadly drug leads them on a chase to determine the supplier. As Deck and Tori grow closer, the threat increases. Will they get the supplier before a they find themselves another one of the supplier's victims?!

Deck's K-9 partner Thor was a wonderful additional along with his friends (and their K-9 partners). I'm hoping they will get their own books in the future! This was the first book I've read of the author but definitely won't be the last!

Tough Justice by Tee O’Fallon is a suspenseful and heart-pounding romantic suspense novel set in and near Denver, Colorado. Dr. Victoria (Tori) Sampson is a dedicated emergency room doctor who saves Dan Prince’s life. Dan is a DEA agent and is accompanied into the ER by Adam Decker (Deck), a DEA K-9 officer. Deck refuses to leave his friend and co-worker’s side. Both Tori and Deck have experiences that cause them to mistrust the other’s profession, but amid an opioid crisis with a new drug on the street called gray death, they agree to team up.

Tori and Deck are both relatable and likeable characters with a few flaws and a lot of strengths. Their relationship developed gradually as they both tried to understand their feelings for one another and rationalized the barriers that needed to be overcome for it to be a success. There are also some strong secondary characters including Deck’s K-9 partner, Thor.

The opening of the story is heartbreaking and memorable and pulls readers immediately into the narrative and the lives of those affected by the opioid crisis. There are plenty of emotional and handwringing moments as the action unfolds. The world-building was terrific. I was able to easily visualize the settings. There are plenty of twists and a few red herrings as the story deals with important themes of drug use, recovery, the opioid crisis, love, respect, compromise, acceptance, trust, death, grief, how one’s actions affect others, and much more. There’s also some occasional humor which provides an opportunity for readers to relax for a moment before the next crisis. This story was a mix of investigation, planning, romance, and action that kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I was kept fully invested in them finding the source of the dangerous drugs.

Overall, this book was fast-paced, action-oriented, and entertaining. If you enjoy romantic suspense with plenty of action that has both strong male and female characters, then this may be the series for you. I can’t wait to find out what is next for the K-9 Special Ops team.

I freaking love this book! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book has everything a romantic suspense lover wants in a story. The author threw everything she had into the creation of this amazing story and it shows.
The topic is right from the headlines today. Then throw in a hot cop, a darling K-9, and a flaming hot romance, and you have a story off the charts.
But it is not all love and romance. We have a love/hate relationship, loads of suspense, great friends, and twists you won’t see coming. I absolutely love this book! Definitely, one to devour again!
Tori doesn't like DEA agents, Deck doesn't like doctors but faith has her own ways and they end up working and helping together. Will they be able to go over their emotional baggage and give chance to love? Both Tori and Deck are well-developed characters and make with their ups and downs a great love story. The story is funny, full of action, suspense, and who did it. Of course, let us not forget the Thor!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
This is the first book in the series. Obviously I loved the k-9 team and the characters as well. I generally don't like romantic suspense but I get in a mood for it every now and again. This book is absolutely worth reading the main characters start at a hate and end in love. Highly recommend this book. Such a great ending. The entire book is so action packed and keeps your full focus the entire time.
“If you ever come into my ER again, I’ll have you thrown out on your muscled ass”
“A doctor with a sense of humour. I like that”
I absolutely loved this book!!
I need a good romance with actions and mystery and that’s exactly what this story provided!!
A beautiful, strong and courageous doctor who distrusts DEA agents because of her family’s past, and a DEA agent with his faithful dog, who distrusts doctors because of his family’s story, find themselves working together to fight against drugs and death and terrible tragedies !!!
United against a common enemy they find out they share more than they’re willing to admit and things get out of hand… in the best possible way!!
A story of trust, drugs, of determination and, more than anything, a story of love!!
Deck and Tori are an amazing duo and the tension between them, the slow burn and the growing attraction is worth reading !!!!
I loved how the author mixed their beautiful romance with a problem that’s becoming increasingly worse with time: drugs addiction.
Through the book you can feel how strongly it affects both people who become addict and their loved ones.
How it doesn’t discriminate between ages or social classes … anyone can be a victim.
And how many people you can find behind the scenes, abusing those situations for their own gain.
It was a great experience reading it through and through and I honestly cannot wait to hear more stories about those hot and sweet DEA agents !!!
“Ironically, as she stood there wrapped in his arms, she’d never felt warmer, safer or more comfortable in her entire life”
“Whatever this was between them, she didn’t want it to end”
I can always count on Tee O’Fallon for a romance with a plot and action! Drug use/overdose is central to the plot so avoid if you have triggers. It was faced paced with well-written intimate scenes and a guaranteed HEA. Definitely recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.
4.5 stars
Tough Justice is another good book by Tee O'Fallon, an author who has figured out that the combination of hunky hotness and capable but cute floof is romantic suspense magic. Her heroines are also bright and able, which helps to make an O'Fallon novel a top-of-the-pile must read. That said, I didn't quite "Huzzah" for this one like I did with her previous novel.
Tori Sampson is an ER doc with a distrust of the DEA (due to family reasons that take a little too long to be fully explained). She meets DEA K-9 officer "Deck" Decker under less-than-ideal circumstances; he and his canine partner Thor accompany a good friend and coworker into the ER after the friend was exposed to an incredibly toxic opioid while on the job. They immediately strike sparks off one another. It turns out that Deck has just as much distrust of doctors as Tori does of DEA agents, also for personal reasons.
Even so, the two begin a wary partnership: Tori agrees to teach a course on emergency opioid treatment in an effort to keep officers on the job safe. She also agrees to help Deck get to the bottom of a deadly new opioid, gray death. In exchange, Deck lets Tori attend a couple of warrants (which never end well). They subsequently start to like each other more and more. However, as they get closer to solving the mystery of the origins of great death, things get hairy. Neither is sure their relationship can survive all the pitfalls.
The story took a little time to get rolling, but it's interesting nonetheless. O'Fallon clearly did her research on opioid addiction and treatment. Tori's reasons for disliking the DEA and Deck's for hating doctors are a little bit of a stretch, however. As mentioned earlier, it seemed to take too long for those truths to be fully explained, especially since keeping them secret doesn't really contribute to the plot. Also, I found Tori's insistence on attending warrants to be a little annoying and possibly out of character. Fortunately, it only happens a couple of times.
Overall, though,I really enjoyed this novel and had a hard time putting it down. I can't wait until the next in the series!
I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
