I read the Federal K-9 series by the same author and loved it. I could not contain my excitement when she came with a new book. Adam and Tori are an amazing couple. I have to be honest, they may not be m favorite from the author but I still highly recommend the book. Adam's pain was very palpable and so was Tori's past. I am an avid animal lover, especially dogs. I lost mine last year and this book was much-needed support for me. I am really looking forward to the books with the supporting characters because they seemed really interesting. The mystery was well done, none of the portions felt anti-climactic. From a personal point of view, the steam was not usually what I expected after reading her other books. I found it to be a wee bit mellow. It is definitely a slow burn enemy to lovers' romance. I finished this in a single sitting like I usually do with all her books.
Trigger warnings: drug overdose, teenage mortality
An enemies to lovers novel that is fast-paced, well-written and I could not put down. ER doctor, Tori Sampson, has a grudge against the DEA, while DEA agent Adam "Deck" Decker, distrusts doctor due to their part in the opioid crisis. The reluctantly begin working together leading to them gradually understanding each others feelings of distrust. There are also strong secondary characters including Thor, Deck's K-9 partner. The author's years in law enforcement clearly show making this an entertaining novel, I cannot wait to read more by her.
I received this advance review copy from from NetGalley & the publisher for my honest review.
Hang on for a roller coaster of a ride between DEA agent Deck, and ER Dr Tori. Their first meet is nothing but animosity between these two, Deck doesn’t trust Dr’s and Tori, despises anyone associated with the DEA. they clash and want nothing to do with the other but the overdoses of a new drug has been escalating and Deck needs Tori’s help. He convinces her to call him when any OD patients come into the ER and help with a class so his fellow agents can protect themselves if they get hit with the deadly drug. Now the two of them, put aside their distrust and start working together, leading to the undeniable attraction between them but when the case hits close to home and the distrust rears it’s ugly head…will they survive.
A great read with sparks and fireworks, suspense, danger, heartbreaking scenes, surprises, twists and turns and amazing characters that also include K9 warriors. Couldn’t put this book down, from the first page to the last I was glued to it, the story flowed beautifully and the descriptions were spot on. I can’t wait for the next one !!!
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Tough Justice starts a new series and it was a good story to kick things off.
Deck and Tori had a lot of chemistry despite not liking each other much in the beginning. It doesn't take long for things to change as they spend time together investigating the new drug.
This story balanced the romance and suspense plots well. I didn't feel like either overshadowed the other. Instead they were interwoven so I couldn't wait to see what happened next.
I loved this book, and writing this review without giving anything away is tough. Ripped from the headlines, we get a great premise and story. It is a fast-paced read with plenty of action, suspense, twists, steam, and romance. I will not forget the K-9 partners.
I am looking forward to reading more of this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
This was an intense read. Deck and Tori meet in the hospital while she is trying to treat a DEA agent that Deck works with for an overdose. Deck does not trust medical professionals at all and insists on supervising everything Tori does. Tori is very untrusting of the DEA because of her past and doesn't take kindly to being micromanaged. Their beginning is rocky, but they have a common goal: to get the drugs that are killing many people off the streets. This story was emotional, sweet, sexy, suspenseful, and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read. I really enjoyed this book and the author's writing style. It hit on hard to talk about subjects and faced them head-on, which I admired. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming; it made for an incredibly enjoyable reading experience. I loved Tori and Deck's relationship evolution, and I loved that they had to push each other out of their comfort zones. Overall, a fantastic read, and this author has become an instant buy for me.
What an enthralling read this proved to be,
Complete with K-9s, suspense and mystery!
The first in a new series, I'm pleased to say
I can't wait to read more when they're available some day!
An ER Doctor, Tori Sampson, is cross
As overdoses cause so many young lives to be lost.
However, family drama in her past also mean
Working with the DEA is a nightmare, no a dream!
Can DEA K-9 agent, Adam “Deck” Decker change her mind?
Can they work together the sources to find?
And whilst working together will they give a chance
To develop their attraction into a romance?
There's danger and history for both of these now
But can they overcome the odds and somehow
Keep each other safe whilst working together
To put away the drug lord, stopping his rule forever?
A gripping adventure, with brill K-9 heroes, too,
I thoroughly recommend this book to you!
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
An enthralling read and this is my honest review.
Wonderful story with lots of intrigue and plenty of wonderful characters. I love the K9 aspect of the story and cannot wait to read more in this series.
My first read of this author I believe but I will be back for both more of this series as it’s released but I’m going to work through the authors back catalogue too.
An involved storyline, with a good amount of backstory for each of the main characters to ensure you really understood the hard decisions they were making about each other and their potential of a future together.
The street drug storyline resonated with each of the main characters and was quiet twisty, with a plethora of characters that you accused of being involved at one time or another before a satisfying conclusion was reached with last minute emotional highs and lows.
I liked the authors writing style and felt the story flowed really well, engaging me fully as a reader and answering all the questions I was asking myself about the story or characters.
I did feel that Tori forgave Deck a little quickly for thinking “that” about her, and that his willingness to make a major change at the end was a little left field given everything we had learned about him, though I recognise that was supposed to symbolise the depth of his feelings, but this didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book.
I look forward to the next book and more, especially with the little clues that have been woven into this book (I think!!)
I have read and enjoyed Tee O’Fallon’s stories in the past but loved, loved, loved Tough Justice, the first book in her new K-9 Special Ops series. The tough on the outside but a warm caring person on the inside DEA K-9 agent Adam “Deck” Decker would give John Wayne a run for his money as a true blue hero. Dr. Tori Sampson is also a strong capable intelligent heroine. Together they are amazing even when they are butting heads which is often. Then there is Thor, what a dog! I think I fell in love with him the most!
This awesome romantic suspense gives both sides in the war in the battle of opioids crisis, drug addiction and the hard road of recovery. The story does not shy away from the successes, the failures, and the heartaches. It opened my eyes to this crisis that I hear about on the news.
Fast-moving highly suspenseful, outstanding book that pulled me right in with the emotional intensity of the characters, their passion, bias, and personal heartaches. It had it all including a couple of red herrings and one cute family twist in the conclusion.
If you are a fan of D. D. Ayes K-9 romantic suspense book then you must read Tee O’Fallon’s books. Tough Justice is a great book to start reading making you a true lover of her stories.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Tough Justice" by Tee O'Fallon
My Assessment:
'Tough Justice' was quite a suspenseful romantic story of what happens when a physician, DEA agent, and K-9 DEA agent came together in Colorado. It's even more interesting when a romance comes in between the two that didn't start out trusting one another. Will these two [Tori & Deck] be able to get to the bottom of who the supplier is that produced this 'gray death substance?' The author will give the reader a lot to think about, keeping one guessing on different suspects to the end of the read. By the end of the story, the reader will have been given well-developed characters, especially Deck's partner, the K-9[Thor], filled with action-packed, and a good plot that will keep one's attention as you keep turning the pages till the end. Would I recommend 'Tough Justice?' Yes!
Thank you, NetGalley, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review of my opinion.
Another thrilling winner with intrigue, passion and humor...and a surprise at end!
This book was just as gripping as the last one in this series. Sad and poignant opening which sets the stage for Dr. Tori Sampson, ER doctor to meet DEA K-9 Agent “Deck” Decker. Their meeting was explosive because they both have baggage that makes for resentment on both sides. Their back stories are touching. Titillating love scenes in the bedroom, kitchen floor, up against the wall...you get the picture. Thor who is Deck’s K-9 agent-companion nearly steals the show at times. Love these animals! The author has successfully kept us guessing about who the “bad guy” is by having so many potential candidates. Very cleverly done. Edge-of-seat ending with an uncanny surprise. Loved this book!
By reading “About the Author” in the back you’ll find that the O’Fallon has real-life experience having been a federal agent for 23 years conducting criminal investigations. Tee O’Fallon has written a compelling story. If you like your books to have wit, delicious and scary complications as well as a well-concluded ending, read this one. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled/Net Galley.
Wow! The ER scene where Dr Tori Sampson and DEA K-9 agent Adam Decker meet for the first time was something else. I kept waiting for them to come to blows or security to be called. Tori has a reason for hating the DEA but fought to keep herself in check because she had a patient to save. Deck had no plant to leave the room until his partner was saved due to his distrust of doctors.
As the story unfolds, we slowly learn the reason she distrusts the DEA and the reason he distrusts doctors. Fortunately for them, as they work together to try and stop the distributor of a new, more potent drug, they start to see things from the other's point of view. Other things I loved about this story were the sizzling chemistry between them, the suspense, the adorable K-9 dogs, supportive family and friends, and the overall story line.
Fast Moving Romantic Suspense.
Two individuals who both have reason to distrust the other’s profession first clash but then agree to work together for the greater good. In spending more time with each other, things become less black and white and the chemistry between them is electric….but the danger they face from the villains in the story drives the two of them apart. Can they compromise and find a way back to each other?
Highly recommended.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the premise of this story and just how detailed the writing was when it involved medical practice as well as field work. I was extremely impressed with the realism of the characters' base struggles regarding each others' professions, as well as how their reservations carried out through the story rather than fizzling out in the face of ~love~. Their tension was palpable and so fun to watch develop! I do think that there are elements hinted at within the story that seem to exist just to push this romance along (the stage fright, while a standout moment, is not brought back again). My only real lingering question, though, is about the side characters and how they play in. There is the mentioned possibility of the other medical personnel being involved in the underhanded drug dealings, but then it seems to not be resolved? Her friend's ring/fiancé "coming into money"? It's very minor compared to the overarching plot, but definitely left me a little confused. Overall, definitely would read again just for the main plot line – very intriguing and for sure had me turning the page!!
Tee O’Fallon writes realistic and smart stories. They are fast paced, informative and action packed. Deck is a DEA agent who has has a K-9 partner named Thor. He is classified as a double H, handsome and hot. He is a part of a task force focused on taking down a dangerous drug on the street. Tori is an ER doctor who has seen too many drug overdoses. She has a deep distrust of the DEA until she meets Deck. The story is absolutely wonderful and reminds us of the risks that law enforcement and medical take each day to keep us safe.Deck and Tori along with Thor solve the drug problem and find a way to become a happy family.
This was a pulse pounding, heart wrenching read from cover to cover. I could not get enough.
Honestly as a start to a new series it's best going in blind, and you won't be disappointed for a single second, which is why I couldn't not put it on my top reads of '22 list.
I'm keeping my review vague for certain reasons but trust me, I don't have a single complaint and can't wait to see these characters again.
Edge-of-your-seat action meets swoonworthy romance in the first book of a new series I cannot wait to devour. Look for tension-filled banter, heart-stopping moments, and a hefty dose of heat if you pick this one up. Which, for the record, you absolutely should.
TOUGH JUSTICE is chef’s kiss romantic suspense; an opposites-attract story complete with a very good boy (the K-9, not the hero, although Deck was good, IYKWIM), two flawed protagonists, and an opening scene that is simply heartbreaking. Seriously, be warned: it does not sugar coat the dangers of drug use, nor should it.
As with all of author Tee O’Fallon’s books, this is a book with a message. While shining a light on some of today’s most pressing issues, she always manages to write an entertaining and enjoyable story, and TOUGH JUSTICE is no exception.
After a steady build with moments of levity and sexiness peppered among the seriousness of drug use and abuse, the action comes to a fast-paced conclusion that I could not turn away from. I stayed up late to finish because I needed to know what would happen, and I have zero regrets about that.
As the start of a new series, it lays one hell of a foundation for what’s to come, and I am all-in for the duration.
This was a cute story that we thoroughly enjoyed. For us, Thor stole the spotlight in this story, he made it so easy to love him, and we were falling in love from the moment we met him. You have you appreciate the kind of love and trust Thor and Deck have for one another.
Loved Tori and Dec together, they made a cute couple and both might have been complete opposites, but they just fit together. I loved that they compromised, willing to give each other a chance, especially because they had such aversions to each other's jobs. We loved the fact that Tori decided to expand beyond her comport zone, it was good for her, and we felt she started living again and was interested in something other than work.
Deck was a character driven by his past, so much, so he might not only lose his life one of these days but, the one woman who could end up being the love of his life. You were still sexy as all he** though.
Overall we really enjoyed the story with some drama and a bit of adventure and had a mystery to solve that involved two passionate people who had one common goal.
Loved the chemistry between Deck and Tori that simmered below the surface, they were a match made in heaven. Thor, buddy, we thought you were awesome!
Tough Justice is a fast-paced, action-oriented, and entertaining. If you enjoy romantic suspense with plenty of action with strong male and female characters, then this suspenseful, heart-pounding series is for you. I can’t wait to find out what is next!
