This a wonderfully curated collection of an slavery abolitionist. Her work laid a foundation for activism and this a very good introduction for a wide audience.

This is a must for anyone interested in the history of the US -- and specifically in the lives of women and
African-Americans in the 19th and 20th centuries. AJ Cooper is often seen as the "mother of Black feminism" and this collection of her work gives clear insight as to why.
Cooper was born into slavery and went on to become one of the most well-known black scholars in the U.S. and this is really the first volume to demonstrate the breadth of her work.
It's a long overdue addition to the canon of books by American women on this nation, the roles of men and
women in our society and the importance of civil rights for all.
