I Told You This Would Happen is the follow up to Look What You Made Me Do. I definitely recommend reading Look What You Made Me Do first or you’ll miss out on a lot of information.

While I really liked both books, this one takes the cake. It is fast paced with a ton of suspense. I think the author wrapped up all the loose ends from the first book and gave us a plausible ending that I was happy with. You do have to suspend some belief at points but it’s nothing that takes you out of the story.

This book reminded me a lot of My Sister The Serial Killer, but with so much more depth.

I Told You This Would Happen releases July 12! Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the free e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was a thoroughly fun, suspenseful serial killer thriller. I really enjoyed watching Carrie navigate guilt, fear and familial obligation as she tried to stay out of her sister’s web of kills once again. The plot is impressively fast paced, and you’ll barely be able to keep up with all of the reveals.

📚 ARC / Book Review 📚

Title: I Told You This Would Happen
Author: Elaine Murphy
Genre: Thriller
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Tw: physical violence, references to spousal abuse, murder, manipulation

First, thank you to @grandcentralpub and @netgalley for the ARC of this one (actually my first arc ever and I’m obsessed!)

First, wow! This one was such a twisty ride and the characters are written so well! We watch our narrator really struggle with the choices she’s made (and continues to make) when more then one person in her may be lying. She feels as though she cannot truly depend on anyone and she battles to find her place in the world. What she really wants is a fresh start, but the people from her past who’ve reappeared make that challenging, at best. The ending was incredibly surprising and in some ways, very heart warming.

Overall, I really liked this one! Add it to your #tbr asap!

This is the sequel to Look What You Made Me Do. Four months ago Carrie Lawrence lost her sister, Becca, a serial killer unbeknownst to their small town. Carrie attends a meeting set up by the Brampton Kill Seekers, a group of amateur local sleuths, and finds another girl is missing. This starts out quick with too many sub plots and characters it loses momentum! Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for a gifted copy.

What a fun, witty, twisty one - loved these murderous characters - the author goes all the way with the “bad girl” never flinching -
It’s so well written - about Becca whose sister (a serial killer) is dead - Becca has just committed her own murder - her boyfriend might or might not want to marry her - the police are following her - and a group of local sleuths are asking too many questions - loved this one so much -

Carrie Lawrence is back in this sequel and trying to live her life without looking over her shoulder.

This book shares the lengths that you go to for family and your own personal survival. I think there are a lot of fun twists and turns throughout the story. Carrie and her sister Becca have the oddest sister dynamic that is creepy and also wildly entertaining. This book is about the hunt, the coverups, and trying to keep the past buried, for good.

I think that if you read the first book then you should read this one too. I also think that having another in the series would be interesting as well!

The sequel to Look What you Made me Do, I Told You This Would Happen is absolutely a 5 star read and may just be my new favorite thriller series! Please, please Elaine, tell us there’s a third on its way.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this series given that although it’s a thriller, there’s a humorous tone to the writing. I DEVOURED both books in 3 days! It’s rare for me to love a sequel more than the first, and in this case it just seems to get better and better.

Why do I love and also hate Becca the serial killer equally as much? Reading this book had me wanting to binge-eat cereal with her and plan murders. I adore the humor, the intricacy of details and character development. Praying for a third to make this a trilogy! I need to know what happens next.

Thank you Netgalley & Grand Central Publishing for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Wowza.

I Told You This Would Happen
By Elaine Murphy
Release date - 07/12/2022

Quick note. If you haven’t read Look What You Made Me Do… Stop. Read that first. Then this. 🙌🏼
From the book 📖
Four months after losing her sister, Becca—a serial killer unknown to everyone else in their town—Carrie Lawrence is finally free of her manipulative clutches. From now on, she’s keeping her hands clean, no more hiding dead bodies in the middle of the night, no more lies.
She’s never been happier.
From me 🙋🏻‍♀️
This will be the shortest 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 S҉҉T҉҉A҉҉R҉҉ review ever. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone. But this sequel is off the chain 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. Footloose may not be dead. Carrie isn’t so innocent. And her BF is even stranger in this book. The kill seeker's meetings are the best chapters.
That is all I can say. Thank you. Good Night 🙌🏼🫣🫣
Just add this to your tbr asap.

I didn't think we necessarily needed a sequel to Look What You Made Me Do, but we got one and I actually liked it even better than the first book! The writing was snarky and fun and not surprisingly, the plot was also a bit outrageous and ridiculous. I actually really enjoy the toxic relationship between boring Carrie and her sister, the serial killer. There's more humor this time around and the laughs helped me overlook some of the book's flaws. Overall a fun series, but not one I'd recommend you rush out to read. Get to it when you get it.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book; all opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader.

When I first saw this book I was very excited to get my hands on it. The premise sounded great! But a few pages in, I started to feel like I was missing something. I quickly looked it up on Goodreads and found that indeed it is book 2 of a series. I did not see that listed with the title or I would have passed this one up. I never jump into a series midway…even if it’s just book 2.

The author gives plenty of background! Almost too much! Now I couldn’t go back to read book one as all the spoilers were revealed. I had no choice but to carry on.

But I just lacked the connection to Carrie and her troubles. I felt like an outsider peering through a window. Watching but never feeling the read.
I know my experience would have been completely different if I had the opportunity to read book one.
There needs to be a tag on the title page showing this is part of a series.(please).

Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing

WOW!! I was so excited for this book and I am so glad I did. I absolutely loved this book! These characters where awesome and I just loved the whole vibe of the book.

Carrie Lawrence is at it again - but this time covering up her own crime rather than her sister's. It's so suspenseful throughout, though juxtaposed nicely with humor. There's something so absurd about Elaine Murphy's books that just makes you go "But why??", giggle, and then turn the page. I'd say that this book feels much lighter than the first, though I wouldn't recommend reading this one first. (I know, I know...)

But this is the perfect summer beach read for someone who wants a bit of suspense and humor, and overall super enjoyable.

I had a great time reading I Told You This Would Happen. With the fast pace, interesting characters, unique plot, and tons of action happening, this was a book I totally enjoyed. This is the second book but the author provides some background of what happened in the first, which meant I knew what was going on without getting bogged down in the past. The plot is fascinating and entertaining, mixing horror and comedy somehow; it just works. Carrie is the center of the action and struggling to stay ahead. She is trying to keep some murders hidden while also solve a mystery and stay away from the police. In spite of all the balls in the air, I was never lost or confused. There are lots of characters in the story but they feel well fleshed out . This made everyone’s actions make sense, including Becca oddly. I hope there is another book to come. I would love to read more of this one.

Thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the arc. This is my honest review.

Excellent sequel to Look What You Made Me Do. No idea if this is going to evolve into a series but I enjoyed both books very much.

This was a fun one! I loved the book from the moment I saw the cover. I definitely need to go back and read Elaine Murphy’s other book!

I gave this one 3.5/5 stars( rounded up to 4 on here and goodreads). I honestly didn't know this was a sequel when I requested it on NetGalley, and although I have the first book (Look What You Made Me Do), I haven't read it yet. I think had I read that already this may have been rated higher. The storyline of this was good, but I found it hard to connect with most of the characters and felt that I was missing a good chunk of back story. I plan to go back and read the first one soon, but I definitely recommend reading them in order!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance ecopy.

I Told You This Would Happen by Elaine Murphy is the riveting follow-up to Elaine Murphy’s debut thriller Look What You Made Me Do. I Told You This Would Happen centers around Carrie Lawrence, who’s lived her whole life being manipulated & used by her sister, who just so happened to be a serial killer, Becca. Now that Becca is dead, Carrie should be finally granted the ability to live free from all things scary, but what happens when danger returns? Is she a magnet for horror? Is there another serial killer? Will the Brampton Kill Seekers amateur sleuth club solve the case? Read I Told You This Would Happen to find out!
I thought this book was even more entertaining than Look What You Made Me Do. Once again, the concept was unique & there were so many plates in the air in terms of plot that it was a constant stream of commotion & balancing act of mysteries. I enjoyed watching this juggling act of a thriller.
This is the kind of enthralling book you stay up until 3am reading because you have to find out what happens next. It is extremely fast-paced, which I always appreciate. I gave it 4 stars!
I Told You This Would Happen by Elaine Murphy comes out July 12, 2022!

When I saw the cover for this one I knew I had to read it! And while I didn't realize that it was the follow-up to Look What You Made Me Do, I still enjoyed it immensely! I even went ahead and bought the first book because this one was so well written and unique!

This book is different from the get go so the reader needs to be prepared for that. It was good. Definitely different subject matter than normal.
