I actually really enjoyed this. This was an e-ARC from Netgalley and I thought it would be a great for me as I was looking for something light to read.

A very modern-day issue for a lot of woman who have endometriosis and it is therefore, harder if not impossible (sometimes) for them to conceive.

I found this a difficult read but yet Gemma had so much hope and positivity. Her brothers best friend, Josh is put down as the donor but Gemma has to persuade Josh to go through with it.

I think this book is an excellent read, it was heart wrenching, sad yet also funny and touched my heart.

Thank you to Sarah and Netgalley for allowing me this ARC.

Really easy, light read. I managed to read in a couple of days! Felt like a really fun story but also kept me intrigued and reading. I wish I had read this by a pool on holiday, it feels like the kind of novel I would take. Nothing ground breaking, but worth a read for sure

This was my first book by Sarah Ready but it won’t be the last! I loved everything about this book! The only thing I wish it had was Josh’s point of view.

Gemma is a divorced 30+ year old woman that is ready to start a family…even without a man. She decides that Josh, her brother’s best friend, is the man for the job. This story was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time! I did shed some tears while reading this…from humor and heartbreak! There was angst, heartbreak, humor, spice and it was an emotional roller coaster! I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed as much reading a book! I am looking forward to reading more from Sarah! I highly recommend!

Josh and Gemma Make a Baby handles the topic of infertility, IVF, family, friends, and romance. Yes, there are some great laughs, but also moments of great tears. I think this will be a popular book, but I don't need to read it again. The topics of cheating - in relationships and business - bothered me. I could see where a lot of the storyline was heading, but it did hold a couple surprises along the way. I would be interested in reading Josh's web comic series, Grimm and Jewel.

Reviewed from an arc copy.

I liked this cute romcom. I have to be in certain mood for romcoms, but I really enjoyed it. I liked the audiobook as well.

Sometimes a good rom-com novel is the escape you need, and this one was no exception! On top of having a sweet storyline it also draws attention to infertility, which is so rarely mentioned in this type of literature and it's so important to raise awareness! Thank you for this ARC, it was fantastic.

I randomly discovered this book on Netgalley and I'm so glad I did because it was right up my alley.
A romance with a ton of humor is my ideal read and this book made me swoon and laugh on multiple occasions. A lot of rom-com books tend to include a heroine that's way too awkward/unlucky and let's be honest, straight up dumb, to make the story work, this one didn't take it to an extreme. The silly moments were just silly enough to be enjoyable without me wanting to throw my phone away in second hand embarrassment. And while sometimes the heroine made some wrong assumptions about the love interest or acted rude towards someone, it wasn't too frustrating for me to take away from my enjoyment of the story. The main characters remained likeable throughout the book and made me root for them and the whole pregnancy journey was a nice and not too overdone plot to give the whole book a direction.

Special thanks to Swift & Lewis Publishing (LLC) for providing an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 2.5 stars

I was pulled to this title because of the fun cover and the cute/sweet premise. I enjoy romances with the brother's best friend trope and I was even more intrigued that it addresses infertility as it's something so many people experience yet not many people talk about it. Sadly though this book didn't work for me. The basic elements that I enjoy were there: cute banter, a strong FMC and a sweet MMC, a great group of friends, and a quirky supportive family, but the follow-through was missing.

We're served a surface level story with very little depth which ultimately left me feeling pretty disconnected. Did I want a HEA? Of course. Did I particularly care about what was happening? Not really. It wasn't all bad though. The writing flowed well and it was a very quick and fairly entertaining read. There were some great moments between Gemma and her support group friends Brook, Hannah and Carly that I really enjoyed, plus (if the author's research is right) I actually seemed to learn a lot about infertility and the IVF process. I thought Ready handled the sensitive topic delicately through the support group characters and I liked how she shed light on how people's experiences and the way they handle their situations can really differ through the eyes of the four women. There were also some "random" illustrations that were included during the interactions between Josh and Gemma and although at first, I was unsure how I felt about them, I ended up really liking the illustrations and thought the inclusion of them was sweet because of their significance to Josh's character!

That said, my biggest issue was the missing connection to the characters. But in particular, I really struggled to like our FMC, Gemma. I've grown to appreciate realistically flawed characters and while Gemma had her great moments, there was so much about her that was so incredibly unlikeable that I had a hard time persuading myself to root for her. I don't know why as the story progresses she becomes increasingly judgemental and horrendous but when certain things she said about Josh were revealed towards the end, it REALLY rubbed me the wrong way and convinced me she didn't deserve him! There was also a bit of a love triangle here but because I didn't care about the characters, it didn't phase me—the guy was an absolute knob and I don't know what Gemma saw in his uber-fake self-help guru persona. All the quotes were pretty freaking cheesy and he definitely skeezed me out!

With so few redeeming qualities in Gemma, I had a hard time believing Josh loved her so much because I just couldn't see what there was to love about her! I thought Josh was sweet, funny and genuine but he's never around for very long and we learn next to nothing about him aside from the basics such as where he lives and works. There were many moments when Gemma also realises how little she knows about Josh and yet she never makes any attempt to get to know him better either and it was incredibly frustrating especially as she'd continue to misjudge him anyway. While I did like Josh, I also felt he was a bit of an egg for not being honest with his feelings. I'm not sure why he never said anything or made more overt and obvious gestures showing how he felt about her but it never happens until she says something at the end, and by then I was pretty over their "romance".

Honestly, at times I felt more invested and interested in one of Gemma's support group friend's romance and relationship than I was about her and Josh and I'm pretty sure that's *not* supposed to happen! 🙈 Overall, I guess if you're looking for a fun quick romance and aren't too picky about character development, you can check this book out. It seems that a lot of others really enjoyed the story and although I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped to, I'm still glad I gave it a try!

I’ve never picked up a book with quite this kind of plot before. But as my fiancee and I are preparing to have children of our own, I found myself drawn to the pregnancy aspect of Josh and Gemma Make a Baby. I also really liked the idea behind the romantic aspects of the plot!

And I’m so glad that I came across Josh and Gemma Make a Baby, because it has been one of my favourite romance reads so far this year! Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect since I didn’t come across the books through my usual channels, but rather stumbled upon it outside of the more mainstream ways I hear about books.

But Josh and Gemma Make a Baby was great! It gave me some Bridget Jones vibes and otherwise had a vibe all its own. I really felt for Gemma from the get-go. And I also really liked Josh from the start, and definitely understood why Gemma had had a crush on him for so long.

Josh and Gemma Make a Baby made me laugh quite a bit at time, while also making me ugly cry at others. There was also more to the plot than I had originally thought and I was impressed with how it had all been woven together. I definitely recommend this one to those who enjoy pregnancy and discussions about fertility in their romance plots!

I really enjoyed this story about the ups and downs of infertility and love. The characters were flawed but lovable, and I could see myself in the lead character. Even with her flaw; I was rooting for her and the supporting characters.

I received an ARC copy of this through NetGalley.

Thank you to NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing for the ARC. I liked this book- it was cute, the characters were likable but I think more of the relationship- past and present- could have been added to the story. Also, trigger warnings for women trying to have a baby, going through IVF or having experienced a miscarriage. I'm glad that a book finally addressed these issues as they are very infrequently discussed but it kept it quite surface-level. Overall, I enjoyed it, though!

Title: Josh and Gemma make a baby
Author: Sarah Ready
Ch: 31
Pg:366
Series:
Genre: Rom Com Women’s fiction
Rating: 4 stars
Publisher:

Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC

Don't Let the cover fool you Josh and Gemma make a baby by Sarah Ready is not a typical rom com. Though it has humor, comedy and romance I would not classify it as a rom com or even your typical romance. As it deals with deeper issues that rom coms don't normally tackle. But Sarah Ready does it with tack and humor. Gemma has given up on finding Mr. Right but she still wants a baby, so enter her brother's best friend Josh. Both go into the arrangement without planning on being anything more than friends famous last words.

I've seen other reviews were readers were saying that Gemma was going through wasn't realistic and it was over the top. I found it realistic and believable and not over the top. But we live in a society where women get shamed for their infertility even from their own family. Gemma was easy for me to relate to. not the inferably part or the IVF at least not yet, but I can relate to the endometritis diagnosis and her reaction to it. Not every woman relates to endo the same way but like Gemma I related to my diagnosis with humor it was the only way I could process it. So it was nice to see it handle that way in a book. (Though not everyone handles it that way). And I could see myself doing something similar to Gemma if I was in her shoes. All in all a good book that had me laughing and in tears. and Rooting for both Gemma and Josh.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.

I picked it up after reading the description and it sounded like a really fun easy romance read, and it went way above all my expectations.

First off, yes this book was so fun to read but, it dealt with real-life topics that I personally do not think are discussed enough... fertility, IVF, and the struggles of getting pregnant. Sarah Ready wrote about this with such grace, but also with the perfect dose of humor.

I firmly believe this would make a fantastic Netflix original film. If you like Romcom films like What to Expect When your Expecting OR The Backup Plan you will love this book.

I read it over two days, the pace and writing really sucks you in and it is feel of highs and lows. Plus, a few spicey scenes! Overall it was a five star romance read and I can't wait to pick up more Sarah Ready books!

What a cute read! I’m always a sucker for a good romantic comedy, and this one hit all the marks. It was hilarious, it was heartfelt, and it was precious. Our main character, Gemma, has gone through a lot. Married, divorced, and diagnosed with infertility, she decides its time to take happiness in to her own hands. She decides to conceive through IVF, and rather than use a stranger as a donor, she asks her brother’s best friend, Josh. While she works her way through the process, she grows so much as a character, discovers a whole new friend in Josh, and…well…you can see where this is heading. Even with the predictability, this was an adorable, quick read that made me smile. It did pack some emotion, and I do want to add a trigger warning for pregnancy loss that is discussed in the book.

I love this book. I related to the main character, Gemma, so much. All she wants is to have a baby. The problem is that she told the dr she has a partner. The other problem is that the first name that popped in her head is her brothers best friend, Josh.

Now Gemma is trying to convince Josh to be her donor while starting a new relationship with someone at work. Can Gemma get the guy and the family she so desperately wants?.

Also, I love the ladies in the fertility group and need them each to get their own books!!

From the comics, to the lime jell-o, to all of the warm and fuzzy feelings this book gave me, this was the sweetest book. I absolutely loved Josh and Gemma. My only regret is that I didn’t read this sooner. Sarah Ready has a new fan for sure!

I predicted the ending of this book at the very beginning- and you know what? I am not mad. I absolutely loved it. I appreciated that this story focused more on the fact of having a baby and the journey rather than making it all smutty. But oh my GOD did my fricken heart go out to Josh. I need more. I need a part 2 of this book right now!!!!! I needed an epilogue!! Something!!! Hoping that in the future there is part 2 of their happy ending.

This was a very funny and lighthearted read - with some tough discussions at time, but overall such a fun read.

I really liked these characters and connected with them on so many levels. This was definitely a fun and quick read!

Josh and Gemma Make a Baby is a book that really got to me on a personal level, in a good way.

The infertility struggle is so real, and I love that this book opened eyes to the IVF journey and the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with that.

I know so many people affected by infertility and I personally have had issues with endometriosis, like Gemma. ).
It's a scary and really hard thing when your body can't do something it's made to do.

Both Josh & Gemma have a fantastic sense of humor and I was laughing with them through every joke and awkward moment that came in this book.

This story touched my heart and books don't often do that for me.

Sarah Ready did a FANTASTIC job with this one! Cheers to her!
