This book was a rollercoaster of emotions for me 😂. Laura’s story / life is somewhat shocking sometimes and she is such a gifted storyteller you can’t help but he enraptured while reading, and I imagine an audiobook version with her speaking/ reading would be incredible. I laughed, a lot, and cried some too, and while i don’t always find the addictions (drugs and alcohol) parts of her story relatable, she is such a good storyteller I’m super interested anyways. She really lays it all out here in a raw unapologetic way that maybe could rub people the wrong way, but I ate it up. I will say I’m curious how well received this book would be for people without kids. For me half of what made it funny is how relatable it is, in particular the birthing stories etc. but perhaps even those who haven’t experienced it would still eat it up!!! Highly recommend.

Thanks for the fun ARC Simon and Schuster, NetGalley and Laura Clery. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Jumping into the ADHD mind of Laura Clery. It was exactly what I signed up for, and the exact jumbled life mess I was expecting from her.

Stories of love, acceptance, drugs, hate and everything in between.

I think this is the first autobiography I've read in YEARS and omg it was so spectacular I couldn't put it down. Clery's writing style is so conversational and it's like she's just talking to the reader like a friend. The whole book is just such an honest take on motherhood, relationships, and life. I especially loved the parts when she talks about how her relationship to her husband isn't perfect and how she wants to parent her kids with unconditional love and support. This book is full of great quotes and I highly recommend it! I haven't read her first book, but I'm tempted to if it's just as good as this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

Laura Clery is so talented and so real. I loved her first book, but I think this one is better. She addresses a lot of the same things as in her first book, but from a different perspective and in more depth. I adore how honest and open Laura is with her postpartum depression, her marriage, and with parenting. She is a great advocate for the realities of breastfeeding, mothering, and parenting neurodivergent children while also being neurodivergent. This was a great book and I highly recommended to anyone who wants to laugh, cry, and feel validated in their feelings that its hard.

I have never heard about this book before and one look at the cover and I had to read it. I love how she writes and she made reading this book very pleasant.

The tone of slight irony and panic and funny is a perfectly blended story.

Wow!!! It is nice to hear a real mom, a real woman talking about real things. The things no one else wants to talk about. I have never laughed and cried so hard during one book as I did this one. Having had a baby a year and a half ago and have been diagnosed with ADHD not long after giving birth this book just hit a little harder. Laura Clery is amazing and I loved this book so much!

Idiots is a follow up to Laura Clery's first book Idiot (which I haven't read). I should start off by saying that if you are easily offended you might not be the target audience but if you're a fan of Laura's you will love it! I LOVED it but it could be a bit much for other people.

Laura made me laugh and cry, but mostly cry. She talked about the births of both of her children but more in depth about her daughter Poppy. Why has no one else talked about the fourth trimester? I truly felt like she was talking to me as a friend.

Laura also talked about being diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 34. I recently was diagnosed at the age of 31 and it's changed my life immensely. Her words were so raw and I shed so many tears reading that chapter. She was able to talk about it in a way I most likely never could.

Idiots was crude, hilarious and emotional. Thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC.

If you are expecting an eloquently written book about motherhood, marriage, and life...do you even know who Laura Cleary is? This book is not for you.

If you are looking for hilarious birth stories mixed with some raw emotion and real truths, then this is for you. Including the use of BALLSACK in all capitals multiple times.

Laura Cleary is not a novelist, but she doesn't need to be. This book reads like a woman who is willing to keep it VERY real with her audience, which is how she built her fan base to begin with. It was a little scrambled and all over the place in parts, but shows that Laura is what she says she is: a very funny and very open person.

I would not recommend this book for the faint of heart, but anyone who is thinking of children, has children, this book will really resonate. It is a great insight into the honest truth about motherhood and marriage..not a fairy tale.

3.5 stars.

Idiots by Laura Clery is the follow-up to her wildly popular Idiot, in which she unabashedly shares some of her struggles with addiction and some very toxic relationships, which have all led to where she is today. In Idiots, Clery's focus has clearly shifted to becoming a wife and mother, and the struggle to balance the daily chaos of her indisputably unconventional life with providing a nurturing environment for her young family. What really endears Laura to us, however, is her ability to shock us with graphic and unfiltered descriptions of sex and childbirth, among other things, while at the same time exposing a vulnerability that is relatable to so many.

At the outset of this book, I have to admit that I was wondering what I had let myself in for, but as Laura's insecurities about her decisions both past and present began to emerge, I found myself becoming increasingly engaged in her story. Her personal and very heartfelt thoughts on her son's unexpected autism diagnosis are particularly touching, as are the concerns that she shares about the future for her children.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for an ARC.
