An interesting read about a topic I honestly haven't thought or learned much about. Definitely uplifting and had some good ideas.
If you want a book that makes you smile, look no further. I found myself with the biggest grin on my face throughout this whole book. The pictures are bright and beautiful. Whether it’s just the side of a building or a woman in bright colors the pictures are moving.
I loved all the different techniques and ways to connect to color throughout the book. Though my most used thus far is the breathing technique. I feel so wonderful after even though it wasn’t a natural thing for me in the beginning.
Different aspects and thoughts on colour and how they can be interpreted by people and cultures. It is more straightforward in what is being introduced (flowers, travel, food, and more) and gets experiences. Get different things that the reader can do.
Thank you, Leaping Hare Press, for the advance reading copy.
More of a coffee table book filled with colours, of course, with real bright pictures taken from different corners of different places, the book sure lits up the spirit of the reader and brings, yes, again some colours to the one reading it.
So much to take in if you are already not so familiar with colours and their different combinations.
I would say the book is rather too short and it got over when I was just starting to enjoy it.
But yes, it delivers all the positive vibes it promises.
I have always loved color and the way different hues interact with each other. Finding color in our world has always drawn my eye strongly, so when I saw the cover of this book I knew I had to read it! I’m so glad I did, too! This book is a celebration of color! Not only that, but the author also dives deep into the world of color through the lenses of psychology, nature, relationships, food, art, and tons more! It’s an introduction into the world of color therapy, which I knew existed but had no idea was so much more than just the recommended colors to paint the walls. Plus, I loved the practical applications that the author included in the book - there were moments to reflect, rituals that you could include in your lifestyle, and (my personal favorite), different art projects and exercises that you can do to use your newfound knowledge of color. The pictures were so incredible and stunning, and the language the author uses was very beautiful and intelligent without reading like a textbook or making me feel like I was stupid for not knowing more about color therapy. This book is incredible - it is such a unique therapy that has more applications in my life than I ever though it would. An excellent read - highly recommend!!!
I found this to be such a strange book. I love color theory and was hoping for more ideas on using color in my home and environment. This is sort of like a metaphysical book about color instead. I can't really describe it properly, but there are lots of stock photos of colorful things and there's lots of info on how color is interpreted around the world, how to use color to solar charge water, meditating with color, chakras related to color, what rainbows mean to various people, etc. The subject matter is sort of all over the place. There's lots of text and it's sort of a self help tone. The author seems delightful and like a wonderful person, but I didn't really get anything from the book.
For me, two stars for okay.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
Such a beautiful book! It's so visually pleasing and inspiring. I appreciate all the curiosities shared on these pages.
This book makes learning colour theory exhilaratingly playful, exciting and memorable. Serving as a much-needed departure from some of the more “vanilla” approaches that I have read/learned from over the years, I *loved* this outlet. This book clearly depicts how colour can signal strong messages in your life, culture and community. Hello Rainbow can help you reflect on your interactions with the world and guides you through a number of exercises and teachings on how to implement them. There is a strong air of using color to root belonging and acceptance in the world and as a means to celebrate our differences. Each individual has their own intimate relationships with the colours around us and how we can amplify various attributes of ourselves by cultivating them. I very much looking forward from learning from the author moving forward.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the generous opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Più che un libro sul benessere e self-help, questa è una galleria fotografica con i colori in chiave spirituale come filo conduttore dell'esposizione. Idea molto carina, anche se non era ciò che mi aspettavo
Beautiful images, unique perspectives on color and how to play with color through art and meditation. A very unique book!
I think art lovers or those who are wanting to be more creative will benefit the most from this book.
I received an ARC of this book by the publisher via Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review.
I'm obsessed with color. Colorful things draw me in like a moth to a flame. However I've never consciously considered how color can impact our mental health. I know the rules of color interior design theory and some basics regarding the color wheel and painting with color, but color is one of those things that ironically enough can be easily overlooked when you're not paying attention.
Enter Begum-Hossain, who created the Hello Hue Manifesto. The Hello Hue Manifesto is a lifestyle philosophy rooted in color therapy, which encourages incorporating color into our self-care and daily wellness practices. Hello Rainbow provides tips, tricks, and activities to invite more color into your life and to help you harness the mood-changing abilities color has. There are guided meditations, craft projects, journaling prompts, and adventure ideas. This book inspires you to be more creative and explore the colors that draw your attention the most. However, I think the most important piece of advice is to be more mindful when going through the world. Pay attention to the colors present in all aspects of your life. Even though I'm a huge fan of color, this book made me realize how much I take it for granted on a day-by-day basis. It was a reminder that I need to be present when going about my regular life, and really pay attention to the colors that inspire me even in settings I consider uninspiring.
I like how Begum-Hossain gives ideas of colorful things to do in cities and rural areas. She also briefly explores how colors play important roles in different cultures and traditions. I enjoyed the pictures and brief write-ups regarding some of the most colorful festivals in the world. It's fascinating to see the role color plays in different cultures, traditions, religions, and celebrations.
Hello Rainbow was a quick primer regarding how you can incorporate color into many different aspects of your life in order to tap into the happiness that can bring forth. Some of the activities inspired me and I felt like this would be a great book to turn to when looking for ideas on how to boost your creativity. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
