Falling for the suitor is a cute, romantic story which is somewhat bases on "The Bachelor". Now this book was good but I have read so many books like thess that I've simply lost interest. But if you are a big fan of this "trope" then you might like this book.
If you are a fan of romcoms and The Bachelor then Falling for The Suitor should be your next read! Told in dual POV through the eyes of Bexley (one of the 25 girls) and Grayson (The Suitor) this story takes you through all of the drama that comes with dating on a reality show. Even with all of the shenanigans and cat fights, this story keeps you hopeful with all of the cute romcom moments. It also helps that Bexley is extremely level headed and just focused on winning, so her character made it really easy to enjoy the story. Grayson bothered me at times though as he went back and forth from acting calm to enjoying all of the drama, but overall he was a good MMC. I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
Title: "Falling for The Suitor" by Holly Kerr - A Heartfelt Romance
Rating: ★★★★☆
I had the pleasure of reading an advanced reader copy of "Falling for The Suitor" by Holly Kerr, and it was a delightful and heartwarming romance that left me with a smile on my face. Kerr's storytelling is engaging, her characters endearing, and the small-town setting charming, making this a perfect read for those in search of a sweet, contemporary romance.
The story revolves around Laura, a talented chef who unexpectedly finds herself back in her hometown of Penn Shore. There, she crosses paths with Adam, a charming yet down-to-earth suitor vying for her attention. Kerr's writing is both witty and tender, creating a genuine connection between the characters and the reader. The romantic tension between Laura and Adam is palpable, and their journey from acquaintances to something more is beautifully developed.
What sets "Falling for The Suitor" apart is its genuine depiction of small-town life and its relatable characters. The secondary characters, particularly Laura's friends and family, add depth and authenticity to the narrative. The pacing is spot-on, and the balance between romance and personal growth is well-executed. I'd like to extend my gratitude to both NetGalley and the publisher for granting me access to this advanced reader copy. Holly Kerr's delightful tale reminds us that sometimes, love can be found in the most unexpected places.
Title: A Charming Love Story: Falling for the Suitor by Holly Kerr
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Falling for the Suitor by Holly Kerr is an enchanting and heartwarming tale that effortlessly captures the essence of true love. With its delightful characters, picturesque setting, and engaging storyline, this book is a delightful escape into the realm of romance.
The story follows Emma, a down-to-earth and independent woman, who finds herself in the quaint town of Blue Willow, Maine. Here, she encounters Simon, a charming and charismatic suitor who seems to be the perfect match. As their paths intertwine, we witness a blossoming romance that is as sweet as it is genuine.
What sets Falling for the Suitor apart from other romance novels is the author's ability to create multi-dimensional characters. Emma is relatable and easy to root for, while Simon's charisma and kind-hearted nature make him irresistible. Their chemistry and the way their relationship unfolds feel authentic and heartfelt.
Kerr's writing style is engaging and immersive, allowing readers to vividly imagine the charming town of Blue Willow. The picturesque descriptions of the coastal setting and the town's vibrant community add depth and beauty to the story. Additionally, Kerr's ability to balance romance with a touch of humor and a dash of suspense keeps the reader captivated throughout.
The pacing of the story is well-maintained, with a good balance of tender moments and surprising twists. The author skillfully weaves together various subplots, adding layers of depth to the overall narrative. While some plot elements may feel predictable, the overall execution is enjoyable and satisfying.
One aspect that could have been further explored is the development of secondary characters. Although they add flavor to the story, some of them felt underdeveloped and could have been given more depth and complexity.
In conclusion, Falling for the Suitor is a delightful romance novel that will leave readers with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Holly Kerr's ability to create endearing characters, combined with her engaging storytelling, makes this book an enjoyable and captivating read. If you're in the mood for a charming love story set in a picturesque town, be sure to give Falling for the Suitor a try.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of Falling for the Suitor from the author for an honest review.
This is so true to what you would imagine really goes on with these dating shows on television. And even if you know it's not going to be good you can't help but watch (or read) this story was so well in its storytelling, the characters were great even when you dislike them, you get invested and can't put it down
I’m just gonna say this: are you a fan of The Bachelor? Then this book is written absolutely for you, it’s basically a season of The Bachelor disguised as a book and you won’t even notice you’re already at the end of it because it runs so smoothly you’ll find yourself turning page after page hour after hour until you will reach the conclusion.
im obsessed with this one. love the concept of the plot and the writing was easy to follow. the ending got me cried for a lil bit.
This was a great spin on The Bachelor TV show and I really enjoyed it. I will be reading more of Kerr in the future.
CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i loved it! so cute!! i love hollywood romances so this was a major slay! i would recommend it, but it wasnt anything insane
My obsession with Bachelor-style romances began years ago with the publishing of The Selection and still continues to this day, I really enjoy these types of books and I'm glad The Selection led me here
I have to say first and foremost, I enjoyed this book. This book was the first book I fully read in a long time and the only one I was really able to grasp on in the middle of a huge mental health drain/reading slump.
While this book was overall enjoyable, I found that there was some pretty big problems, namely the pacing and. conflicts.
I feel like pacing was the biggest issue in this book. The show in the book is said to last twelve weeks and by 54% of the book, we were still talking about week one/two. I feel this severely impacts seeing how any of the relationships develop and getting to know the characters. Dates after this point become limited to a few chapters or pieces of chapters and things seem sudden because we miss so much. It's hard to justify a character leaving/being sent home and to feel something about it when we get so little. I do think this problem could have been solved by lengthening the book to accommodate more bits and pieces from the middle weeks and by cutting some of the initial pieces before the halfway mark that contribute to the early weeks being such a big piece of the book.
The second main problem I had with this book was the conflicts. I think this could potentially be because we don't get enough lead up to justify reactions that lead up to the main conflict from the suitor. The reactions just felt so sudden and random that it's hard to see them being realistic in terms of the overall plot and knowledge of the characters. I remember reading the part where the big ending conflict is introduced and just thinking how absolutely stupid and unjustified it was. The resolution also just felt like there was no working on a resolution, it just kind of gets decided and then we are rushed through to the end.
I just wanted more from this book and while it did not deliver, it was still a nice read.
3.5 rounded up. I'm a sucker for a book set in Ontario. Also, I'm a sucker for trash tv, like the Bachelor, so this book was right up my alley. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Falling for the suitor is a cute, romantic story which relates similarly to "The Batchelor". This was a unique trope to read, and quite honestly was enticed the moment I read the first page.
The female protagonist who's unsure to meet the ideal person in a reality TV show stumbles across Grayson. Grayson is known to be the "ideal" suitor amongst the many eyes to the public and contestants. It's told from a dual POV, which is a major green flag because I love to know the perspective from both characters!
Another positive is that it's a slow burn! One of the most adjourned tropes I have favoured when finding which types of books I like to read. Overall, I'll give it a 3.5.
Thank you to Netgalley who has provided me a copy of this ARC!
Good for anyone looking to scratch the itch of a behind-the-scenes romance on a reality show. We get a lot of subervsions of this trope, but this is a great example of how to make the premise of a show work for the premise of a book.
This book was a fun, quick read but I really needed an epilogue! I love the setting of the reality dating show and the automatic drama that ensues there within. Bexley and Grayson had great chemistry and I was definitely rooting for their HEA.
The main issue I find with books in this type of setting is there are so many side characters and it can get confusing. And in the end I did feel like there were a handful of loose ends that I wish would have been wrapped up. What was the deal with Chrissa in the end? How did things go outside of the bubble of the show? What did Fiona think of Grayson? WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!
This was definitely a good read because it left me wanting more! Also, I wish there had been some steam, but it was cute enough that I really didn't mind.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I never expected to fall for The Suitor.
I actually trip on the hem of my dress.
It wasn’t my idea to come on the reality show, because who really falls in love after twelve weeks? I’m not good at love... or being camera-ready 24/7. The other contestants know all about the First Date Rose, how to get The Suitor alone on a group date, and they all have a plan on how to best win his heart. It’s not going to be easy playing nice with them.
But when I meet The Suitor— Grayson Grant, former player on and off the field, and with the smile that can light up a city—it’s the spark between us that makes me forget all the reasons I didn’t want to come on the show.
I’m going to win this.
Unfortunately, twenty-five other women think the same thing.
Falling for The Suitor is the first in the new Suitor Science Series, a charmingly sweet, swoony, and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy full of sparks and power surges.
If you're into the bachelor/ bachelorette and love reading this is right up your alley. This book was a little slow throughout but I didn't mind too much. I enjoyed this book and the journey I went on however I don't think this is a book I'd pick up and read again.
Grayson is a former pro baseball player and he is the new Suitor for a Canadian dating show. Bexley was dared by her sister to join the show as a contestant which starts Bexley and Grayson’s story to falling in love. Opening up and loving someone is already difficult, but now add 24 other girls into the mix and millions of viewers, things just got a lot more complicated between the two of them.
Overall this was a good read if you liked dating shows and tv chaos.
I really enjoyed reading this book. If you are a fan of the bachelor you are going to love this book. If you have read The Selection , you are also going to love this book. Bexley and Grayson have incredible chemistry and compliment each other so well.
The two main characters, Grayson and Bexley, are likeable and I felt invested in the outcome and protective of them during this crazy, intense experience they’re participating in. Enjoyable read.
A good book , with a fairly new premise and characters matching pre existing tropes.Holds good essence, it is funny and the protagonist , Bexley was hilarious. Grayson is awesauce. But it is slow paced , for someone who would seek medium paced and fast paced may not really enjoy the book. The end was rushed , which would have been better if brought to at a little slow pace. On the whole a good read.
Fans of The Bachelor will love Falling for the Suitor and it's a spinoff of it.
I loved the writing. The words from the contestants were a nice touch to the book which i really loved
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read to curl up to
