You kind of had me at a love story with an Irish man :).
Cara is fresh off a breakup and currently on a trip to Ireland that she had planned to do with her ex. She wakes up one morning... naked... in a strangers bed... married to him! They need to get this drunken marriage annulled but she needs to get back to work so he follows her to California to make the procedure easier and well... maybe they don't really want to end this relationship after all.
I really enjoyed this story, it was filled with cheeky, flirty banter and it was the perfect lighthearted read. Also, the epilogue was so funny - it was from the dogs POV ha! The only thing that could have made his audiobook better was if it was actually narrated by an Irish accented man :)

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher the audio book of this book. All opinions remain my own as always.

Cheers to Ann Marie Walker and her smashing novel. "Lucky Leap Day" is an absolute must read if you are a fan of Irish based Romcom films such as PS I Love You, Laws of Attraction, and Leap Day. But wait! There's more! Not only is Walker's novel full of warm fuzzies, she also incorporates Irish History; particularly regarding events of Easter Rising giving this novel it's own brand of originality. Through her secondary characters, we even get an inside scoop of the internal workings of casting agencies and screenwriters in the film industry. Cara and Finn will take the reader on a wild ride of their flash relationship leaving the reader at one point gasping out loud about that plot twist. Stay all the way to the end credits, folks, for even the epilogue is chef's kiss. Walker has truly crafted a contemporary romance novel masterpiece. For the audio book listeners, a shout out to Cady Zuckerman's portray of Finn's accent giving the story even more.

What happens when you combine a newly single female, a trip to Ireland, a handsome Irish lad, whiskey and Leap Year all together?
The answer is, this charming little romance novel.
Cara, recently dumped and doesn’t want to give up their planned trip to Ireland, heads off on her own adventure. The moment she reaches the city, Finn picks her up as her Uber driver and offers to give her a tour of the city. A bit stranger danger, a bit romantic right?
She almost immediately falls for his Irish accent, because why wouldn’t she? They spend most of her time in Ireland together and she gets convinced to go out with his mates on Leap Year.
There’s a tradition in Ireland on Leap Year…woman propose.
Can you imagine waking up in bed in a strange country to find out you proposed to someone and got married on Leap Year? Well, Cara can!
The string of events that happen post coming back to the USA, where Finn joins her to figure out this whole marriage situation, are anything from happy to sad to cry worthy.
No spoilers, so go read or listen for yourself to see how this sweet little romance ends.
For the cherry on the top at the end, Finn’s adorable dog Oscar is the POV for the epilogue. If you love dogs this is literally the sweetest ending to a book I’ve listened to. 🥺 🐾

This was so fun! Let's talk about the good bits.
1. I love the cover - these cartoon covers are my kryptonite and this one is so good. The colour really draws the attention to the hot guy on the cover (added bonus for the guitar and the cute puppy)
2. I love that it takes place partly in Ireland somewhere I want to visit and got to read about the sights. It is reminiscent of the 2010 movie by Amy Adams called Leap Year
3. The narrator does a good Irish accent - sometimes when an accent feels off it takes you out of the story. I thought her voice for the side characters were particularly good.
4. I enjoyed the story and thought it made sense. The romance was steamy and felt genuine.
5. I love that the epilogue was from the dog's POV! So cute.
I really hope this author writes more books about these lesser know holidays because they are fun.

1. Please work on the Audio. If you speed it up past 2x, it sounds absolutely terrible.
2. So I was pretty bored reading this book. It was a they drink too much a get married on leap day in Ireland then he follows her back home to America sorry. It was cute so maybe wrong book/wrong time for me. There was a cute dog in the book though so that made me like it a tad more.
It was also low steam and I think I just am not really enjoying those books these days. At least that’s what I’ve noticed.
I enjoyed her first book Happy Singles Day so I’ll definitely give her next book a try whenever that day comes.

Lucky Leap Day is such a cute little romp. I had so much fun listening to the advanced copy of this book, especially during the epilogue.
So, Lucky Leap Day follows aspiring screen writer Cara as she journeys to Ireland for Leap Day. In Ireland she meets Finn, a musician/aspiring actor and they immediately form an intense connection. Cara and Finn's attraction for one another turns out to be a good thing as after a drunken night, the two wake up one morning to find out they're married. The rest of the book follows Cara as she tries to juggle her career and her growing feelings for her new husband.
While the plot of this book is completely ridiculous and unrealistic, I still found it to be extremely adorable. Cara and Finn work so well together that it was easy to ignore how little they knew about each other. In fact, all of the characters were a delight. They really made this book as fun as it was. Finn's dog was adorable as well and I loved reading the epilogue from his perspective.
However, I just think this book is way too short for my liking. In hindsight, reading Lucky Leap Day right after reading a new all time favorite book with a slow burn romance was not the best idea. Still, though, I would have liked to see more from this book since I liked the characters so much. I feel like I barely got to see Cara and Finn fall for each other. They were so cute together but Cara and Finn barely had any cute scenes before declaring their love for each other. I'm also mad we don't get more from Penelope since she was so interesting. I seriously felt like everything flew by in the blink of an eye. I know some people don't mind that, but I'm the type of person that loves romances that focus heavily on characters and romantic development.
I also definitely think they should have spent more time in Ireland seeing as how this book is marketed as a romance set in Ireland. The fact that the majority of this book takes place in LA is ridiculous given how the plot hinges on the Leap Day in Ireland. I was so disappointed that Cara didn't stay longer on her vacation.
Anyways, I don't think this a bad romance. In fact, I do recommend it as a good, fun romp. I just couldn't give this a high rating since it was too quick.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review

Cute, quick, fun romance! Narration was superb-- especially considering the Irish accent. As someone who's lived in Dublin for a year, I loved the imagery and detail the author put into painting the setting. I connected with the main character, Cara, right from the start. Although the storyline was unrealistic, the characters and romance felt relatable and genuine.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an advance copy (ARC) of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

This was such a fun and cute story! It’s lighthearted and quick to read. Predictable, but in all of the best ways. I couldn’t help but fall for Cara and Finn. Cara was super relatable for me, especially her struggles with anxiety. Finn was almost too charming and perfect. Absolutely swoon-worthy though.
It’s time to book a trip to Ireland.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. The story started promising. I just was not really into the main characters and the story plot. After a while the author kept repeating herself and the main female character kept repeating herself everytime she said something. It was okay.

Be prepared to laugh out loud! This is an adorable sweet funny love story that starts out with heartbreak, a truly crappy ex, a heinous boss from hell, a lot of Whiskey on Leap Day in Ireland. and a surprise husband! Cara wakes up married to a gorgeous musician/uber driver after way too much Whiskey. Or does she? So what other choice does she hav, but to bring him home to California so they can get their marriage annulled. So much fun, some misunderstandings, a some half truths, a seriously cute dog and a one big question….should Cara finally start trusting herself, others and enjoying the new adventure ahead of her. Download this audiobook as the narration is fantastic and adds to the adventure.

After a breakup with her boyfriend, Cara travels to Ireland to regroup. Too many whiskies ends in a Leap Day marriage to her tour guide. Due to return to LA the next day, she brings new husband Finn along with her to work out the details of the annulment. Except the more time they spend together, the more they start to feel like they have something real. But when the details of their wedding come to light, will it all fall apart?
This was a cute, funny novel with endearing characters. Though not exactly believable, it was an entertaining story. I enjoyed the audiobook narration as well.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

LUCKY LEAP DAY by Ann Marie Walker has all the feels of P.S. I love you by Cecelia Ahern and the movie Leap Year. Who can you resist an Irish romantic comedy? Surely not me! I love the Irish accent that comes with a sexy Irish man. This accidentally married concept story is cute, light, and heartwarming. The characters are lovable. I was cheering for Cara and Finn all along. I love the feel-good ending. I truly enjoyed this one.
The narration was awesome. The narrator was able to inject an Irish accent when needed and her pronunciation of Gaelic words sounds accurate.

This was such a great book. It was a quick read but amazing story. There were twist that I didn't expect to see but enjoyed them nonetheless. If you are looking for a story to bring back your faith in love this is the one for you.
The narrator did an amazing job! The different accents she used were epic and really drew me into the story. Irish for the win!

I was able to switch between the audiobook and a physical copy and although I liked both versions I can say that the audiobook was superb. The narrator was perfect and it made for very easy listening!

What a surprising romcom novel. I say "surprising" because the author wrote about Kilmainham Gaol, a former prison that is now a museum, and the happenings that took place there. I didn't know about that and I am always appreciative of when I can learn something new, especially when I don't necessarily expect to. Surprising and fascinating to learn about another country's history. Thank you for that.
Other things I loved:
- That the main character didn't just focus on love - losing love, getting love, worrying about love, etc., etc. She has a passion for screenwriting and rather than just saying that, the author showed us that, time and again. It's nice to see a more well-rounded character that has other things to focus on and not just the man in her life.
- No spoilers, but whoa, what a twist! I did not see that coming!
- I really like how I like the main character. I found myself rooting for her and wanting her to be happy.
- A word on audio: This is a book that would have benefited from having multiple narrators. The narrator did a good job, but sometimes you get the feeling a book would soar with more than one narrator. This is one of them - between the Irish accent of the main male character and the woman in her 80s - having someone read those characters who shares the background of the characters takes audiobooks to a whole new level.
Another unexpected bit - the epilogue! No spoilers, but it came out of left field for me and it took me a second to catch up.
Overall, a really enjoyable book that I would re-read. Very comforting and fun. Thank you, Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Ann Marie Walker’s Lucky Leap Day is a great audiobook (and story!) to listen to. Cara is an aspiring screenwriter and current assistant at an agency in LA. She travels to Dublin on a quick solo trip after she was dumped via e-mail from her ex. Upon arrival she is picked up by an adorable pup Oliver and his human, an Uber driver named Finn. Cara is in Ireland over Leap Day and what Cara finds out after a few whiskeys too many is that on Leap Day women propose to men…and sometimes marry them that night. This book has several laugh out loud moments and the descriptions of both Ireland and LA made this Ohio girl stuck in the middle of the first very cold snap of winter wish she was traveling. The narrator, Cady Zuckerman, is great and nails the accents (I especially love an audiobook where a character has an accent, the narrators are always better than my imagination!). I’d definitely recommend Lucky Leap Day in the format of your choice when this one comes out on January 18!

First of all let’s talk about the cover. I love the colour it really draws your attention to the hot musical cartoon guy with a cute dog. When you find out he has an Irish accent it’s just the icing on the cake! I really enjoyed this story which is reminiscent of the 2010 movie Leap Year with Amy Adams. Cara is a wannabe screenwriter who takes a solo trip to Ireland after her boyfriend dumps her just before their planned trip. She ends up meeting Finn, the beautiful Irish man and he shows her around - one thing leads to another and they wake up married! I enjoyed the narrators Irish accents as sometimes if an accent is not done well it takes me out of the story. I thought her side characters were really good. I loved everything about Finn now if only I could go to Ireland and meet a guy like this! I enjoyed how Cara kept putting her foot in her mouth and getting embarrassed that’s definitely something I could empathize with. This was overall a very enjoyable book and I hope this author continues this series of lesser known holidays it’s such a great idea. Ps I love that epilogue was told from the dogs POV! If you are a fan of contemporary romance definitely check this one out on audio to hear the pretty accents!

3.5 stars. Quick, cute, predictable. An easy listen but nothing remarkable. The Irish spin was different, and as someone who has a of Irish friends, I enjoyed listening as Cara learned the Irish-isms.

I got a advanced copy from netgalley. I thought it was a great romantic comedy genre. I love a good Irish love story ! Highly recommend!

Not the book for me. I had to force myself to finish the book so that I could write a review.
In my opinion, the characters were superficial and not developed at all; the premise and storyline felt contrived; and the dialogue was juvenile.
