Loved this one! I had this in audio and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cara is in Dublin after she breaks up with her boyfriend, who is also in Dublin for business, and they are staying in the same hotel. Okay, nothing wrong with that. Her luggage is lost and her first cab ditches her and the next Uber picks her up has no heat but a precious dog who keeps her warm. Add in the driver who charms her and keeps her company and gives her a tour because her room isn't ready yet. Great start to the story. Then that same driver is the tour guide the next day and then in the band at the pub where she proceeds to get smashed. Oh and it is Leap Day and there is a tradition in Ireland that the woman can propose on Leap Day and the man should not refuse. When she wakes up the next morning naked and hungover with a wedding ring, oh my! she has a husband and off they go to Los Angeles. Add in the wonderful Pippa and the supportive best friend and the awful boss and this was a rousing good time. I recommend this one highly!

Thank you to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for this Audio-ARC.
If you need me I’ll be over here with a goofy grin on after finishing this audiobook 🥰
This story was adorable. Normally I prefer a bit more of a build in a relationship - a little more will they won’t they - but for some reason I was instantly rooting for Finn and Cara to be endgame.
Cara reminded me a lot of myself. Bad experience with guys, troubles setting boundaries at work, willingness to travel alone etc.
Finn was just what you want in a romance story…. A handsome Irishman with a soft spot for the American girl and the most well mannered guy I've ever read. The Audiobook helped seal the deal of my love for him - as noted in the book several times - since the Irish brogue is A++ 🔥 and the narrator does a fantastic job at it.
Then you get Oscar 🐶, the goodest of all good boys when it comes to dogs (and the Oscar epilogue at the end of the novel should be enough to convince anyone to pick up a copy!)
This was a relatively short story, but it sure didn’t feel that way. Ann Marie Walker was able to pack a punch into each chapter, making it an easy page turner. I couldn’t get enough.
In regards to steaminess, there wasn’t much. Just a few romantic kisses snuck in here and there, and a few FTB scenes- so a safe read for anyone averse to spice.
I can’t deny that some parts of the story seemed a little TOO much … the ex-bf being with a ‘new’ gf already, purchasing a one way flight to LA and I guess quitting his jobs? , being approached to audition for a role in a major motion picture etc. … but they managed to work with the storyline so I can forgive it. As Cara would say, her life was turning into something you’d only see in films! (Or in books …)
I highly suggest this one if you like accidental marriages, forced proximity, closed door romances, hollywood life, and a smattering of Irish tradition/superstition 🍀

A closed-door romcom with an Irish accent
Everything is going wrong in Cara's life. Her boyfriend dumped her via email right before they were supposed to take a trip to Dublin. She decides to go alone. The airline loses her luggage. A rogue Uber driver drenches her while driving through a puddle. Her hotel will not allow her to check in early. Soaking wet, she climbs into the back of Finn's car. Two days later, she wakes up married to him, but doesn't remember the wedding.
This is a cute romcom. It moves quickly and I enjoyed it. There were a few things that kept it as a three star rating- mostly due to Cara.
I listened to the audiobook. While not terrible, I also did not enjoy the narration. The narrator did an OK job with the accent, but often came across annoying. And occasionally lisps.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

There’s just something about Irish romcoms and Lucky Leap Day was no exception. In this book, Cara flies to Dublin on a trip she was originally supposed to take with her ex. Upon arrival, she meets Finn, the perfect Irishman, who gives her a little tour and invites her out on Leap Day. One drink too many, Cara proposes to Finn and the two get married (think what happens in Vegas). Needing to navigate their life and figure out how to get a divorce, they head to LA and Finn quickly becomes a part of Cara’s life there and the chemistry is undeniable. When Finn gets a role in an upcoming movie, Cara starts to think about whether this was his plan all along or if this really is a fairytale.

🥰Closed door romance
😐low conflict
Also, if you’re into audiobooks, I highly suggest listening to this book as the author did a great job with the accents.

Heat Factor: The door closes early! And I don’t often feel this way, but it’s actually disappointing because there’s a lot of possibility there for building the relationship during those scenes.
Character Chemistry: I honestly didn’t care what else was happening when Finn kept saying “my wife” (swoon!)
Plot: Woke up married (Irish tourist edition) plus Hollywood politics drama
Overall: The epilogue is from the dog’s perspective.
I picked up this book because it uses the “oops, we’re married” trope, which I currently find irresistible. It was an audiobook from the publisher via NetGalley, and we know I love an audiobook because I can take it with me. This story was a great, easy listen as I wandered around town, running errands. I hadn’t listened to narrator Cady Zuckerman before, but I’d listen to her again. As a reminder, listening at 1x is a bit too slow for me, so I think I listened to this one at 1.2x, which was fine for keeping the voices aurally normal, and if there were any odd pauses in the 1x speed, I didn’t catch them at the higher speed. It was a lovely listening experience.
With respect to the story, you’re not going to get big surprises. Cara is on a trip to Ireland by herself for a long weekend because she was supposed to go with her boyfriend as he presented at a conference, but he dumped her two weeks prior to the trip. The Ireland portion of the trip is brief, primarily focused on Cara finding herself, climbing out from under the shadow of everything she thought before. But obviously we have ⅔ of the book left to go, so she’s not quite done when she wakes up next to Finn after a drunken Leap Day celebration.
Finn is primarily present as the character who helps Cara find herself. The story is from her POV, so Finn is opaque, and his motivations aren’t clear, which is, of course, useful when we get to the dark moment in Act III. He is very much a spontaneous, glass-half-full free spirit, and Cara is drawn to him because of this aspect of his character, but mistrusts it when everything hits the fan.
At the end of the day, this story is great for the comfort of its familiar rom-com energy and the charm of using the trope to create intimacy for a pair of romantically inclined strangers. The push-pull of “want” and “should” for Cara, as well as the mystery of what’s going on in Finn’s mind, keeps things interesting. Cara is galled that she woke up married to a man she’d known for three days, and while Finn makes all the right noises about ending the marriage, it’s clear he’s more invested in staying married than Cara is. Thus, every time Finn referred to Cara as “my wife” I absolutely swooned a little bit. As I was meant to do. Good job, Walker.
Please see:
"'What are you doing?'
"He flashed her a cheeky grin as he placed his other hand on the small of her back and pulled her close.
“'Dancing with my wife.'
…
“'It feels like a weekend activity.'
“'There’s fifty-two weekends in a year. Multiply that by how many years we have on this earth, and that’s not nearly enough. If you want to live life to the fullest, you’re going to have to dance on some Tuesday nights.'”
I am le sigh.
Was this book mind-bendingly amazing? No. It was charming and sweet and hit the spot. It was perfectly what I needed it to be when I chose to listen to it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.

Recently dumped Cara goes to Ireland, gets drunk, proposes and (evidently based on tin foil rings) marries Finn.
Loved Finn, but Cara ... not so much. My further comments will be to the publisher so that I don't provide any additional spoilers.
The narrator Cady Zuckerman did a great job and loved the Irish accents.
Thank you to NetGalley, Ann Marie Walker the author and the publisher Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to the advance "listen" copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Lucky Leap Day
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!
Cara, a newly-single aspiring screenwriter, decides to go on the trip to Ireland she’d been planning with her now ex-boyfriend. When she mixes an interest with her sexy Irish uber-driver with a lot of whiskey on Leap Day, she winds up with more than she bargained for.
I really enjoyed the Ireland portion of this book - it was fun to learn about the history of the Irish tradition of Leap Day. It honestly kind of fell off for me once the story transitions to LA. I didn’t really believe the chemistry between the MCs. Overall, it was a cute, quick read!
You Should Totally Read This If:
• you love an Irish MC
• you enjoy the forced-proximity trope
• you’ve made regrettable decisions after too much whiskey

"...but this isn't someone else's story Cara, it's yours." -From Lucky Leap Day

I'm a sucker for the trope of waking up married to a stranger. In this case, he wasn't really a stranger, and we get an extended flashback that seemed to drag the story, but it still fits the bill. Of course, that means I didn't really care for the final "conflict", or how easy it was resolved. I never really connected with Cara, in the flashback we don't get someone who is heartbrocken, we get a pretty dull character who has a boring conversation with her ex. When she finds out what he has been up to, she should be livid, angry- any thing. Not making small talk and avoiding telling the girl how they know each other. It just wasn't believable
I did like some of her friendships though, the two main settings, and some of her work stuff. If you like cute rom coms, you will most likely enjoy this story.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for letting me listen to an ARC copy of this book!
This sweet little rom-com is best summarized as accidental marriage, precarious amounts of alcohol, and a lot of Irish luck! Overall, I really enjoyed this short little novel that I somehow listened to in less than 24 hours?! Sign me up for any novel with romance and travel combined, especially when it includes sight seeing!
Recently broken up Cara continues on her trip to Dublin that was meant to be with her ex. After losing her suitcase, and seeing her ex, it sure seems Cara's trip is doomed until her handsome uber driver, Finn, picks her up.. and they just keep crossing paths, A lot of drinking later and he's on his way back to Malibu with Cara to figure out how to "take care of their little issue".
*Spoilers* Overall, the novel is nice and descriptive and you really get to know Cara. I did get a little tired of the *constant* reminder of their marriage. I think Cara says "wife" in shock about 100 times throughout the first half of the novel, Once we were past that, it was a little more uphill. My one complaint is how this novel really only captured Cara's feelings about the marriage and we really didn't get to learn too much about Finn beyond where he works. Just a few more details in his perspective would have been nice, but that's not the way this book is written. Some of the descriptions of characters and places got a little repetitive and could have used some editing as well. These characters are also big on their drinks and it felt a little odd to be reminded multiple times that the whole issue arose from a little too much whiskey. There was quite a few drinking scenes, and I'm wondering if that's a Malibu thing? ;) I loved her friendship with Julia, her girl power job moves, and the overall relationship between Cara and Finn quite a lot. And when you get to the epilogue, enjoy the treat.
As for the audio element, I really liked their choice of voice actor. She was smooth and had a really definitive voice for Finn, that wasn't simply an Irish accent. I got this read so fast while painting, cleaning, and cooking so I'd say that's a huge success to start my year off of reading. I think this has converted me to loving audio books!! Thank you so much for letting me give this a listen.

Such a wonderful story!! If you liked the movie Leap Year, this is that plus so much more!!!! What happens when a girl goes to Ireland on a whim and ends up spending time with her Uber driver? Will she remember proposing on Leap Day infant of a crowd at bar? What happens when the smoke clears and it's just two people who don't know that much about each other? Fall in love with the two characters as you listen to their story of how they get to know each other. Highly recommended when this book comes out!!

This one was not my cup of tea. Predictable from the very beginning. I didn’t like Kara as a character and didn’t care much about her.

I received a copy of this audiobook as an advanced copy from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media. All opinions are my own!
I was immediately hooked by this book (even from the synopsis)! Who isn't hooked by a sexy Irishman?? From the moment he appears, Finn is charming and funny and loyal all rolled up into one nice Irish accent. The chemistry between him and Cara was all but flying off the pages and my heart could barely keep up! I loved watching both of them develop throughout the book and become the people they wanted to be, not just together, but also who they'd always wanted to be in their lives anyway.
I knew there was a third act dramatic thing that was going to happen, but I was genuinely surprised when it did. Everything was so smooth and then BAM the last thing I expected did indeed happen! I really loved the way that this plot twist was thrown in and the way that it added to Cara's development in more than just a romantic aspect.
And don't even get me started on the cuteness of the epilogue!! That alone is worth the read!!
If you're a romcom fan, you will not want to miss this one!

This audiobook was amazing! It really brought the story to life. It was really nice to hear the Irish accent instead of trying to imagine as I read it.
I loved this story! Accidental drunken marriage, to really falling in love, to betrayal, to finding their happily ever after! What else could you ask for? Dogs & puppies? Don’t worry those are in this book too!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape media for an advance copy of this audiobook! This is my honest voluntary review!
Now go pre-order this book so you can enjoy it when it comes out on 1/18/22!

What an adorable romance that starts out in Ireland and goes to LA! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Characters were well written and the audiobook flowed well IMO. I like how Cara (mostly) handled herself throughout the book but again, it is a romance. If you like a lovable Irishman… this book is for you!
It has Ireland - love - romance - a cute pup - personal growth - a lie - and a leap day.
Listened to the audiobook on 2.00% speed.

Did you know that it’s tradition in Ireland for women to propose on Leap Day?
Lucky Leap Day is such a fun, wild ride. Newly dumped and frustrated with her career, Cara spontaneously decides to propose to Finn on her long-weekend trip to Ireland. Unfortunately, she was too inebriated at the time to remember doing so! She has to rush back to LA for an important meeting, so Finn decides to go home with her to decide what to do about their marriage.
I loved Cara and Finn, and was rooting for their relationship from the start. Finn seemed like such a warm, lovely man, and they had great chemistry and banter. My favorite side character was Pippa, Cara’s grandmother-adjacent role model. She seemed so interesting, I would have loved to see more of her!
This story is definitely far-fetched at times, but it is such a fun escape.
The best part of the whole book was the epilogue from the dog’s point of view! I thought this was such a cute way to wrap up Finn and Cara’s story and let the reader know where they are now.
I listened to the audiobook of Lucky Leap Day, which I would definitely recommend. There’s no better accent for an audiobook than an Irish accent. Listening to the narrator’s rendition of Finn’s voice made this story ten times swoonier!
I’m excited to go back and pick up Walker’s previous novel, Happy Singles Day.

Packed full of sweet, laughable, and face planting moments, there’s not much to not love in this rom-com. There are so many shout-outs to Irish lore and films that represent Irish love stories (particularly P.S. I Love You), you can’t help but get swept up in this magical love story. Finn is almost too good to be true and I wondered if Cara would indeed see this in time. Thanks to the help of some loving and meddling friends, the perfect HEA is achieved and is worth all the hardships to get there. The narrator does an excellent job of conveying tone, emotion, and accents! My goodness, Finn all but jumped off the pages with her telling. All in all, a highly enjoyable rom-com to sweep you away for a while. I listened in one sitting as I just didn’t want to put the story away!
I received an audiobook from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are solely my own and freely given.

The writing is just sooooo captivating. I just couldn't put it down, literally counted down the minutes at work to continue reading it. These two characters just make your heart melt, literally pulling every string of your heart. Definitely had some great laughs. For me the best part was the epilogue, the story just closed perfectly and completed the entire Novel. (literally finished this book in 2 days)

When I saw this book I had expectations in mind and I am so happy to report that Cara and Finn made those dreams come true for me. I am a sucker for "accidentally" married tropes and this book delivered.
Cara flies to Dublin, a trip she was supposed to take with her ex, to nurse her broken heart. Upon arrival she meets Finn. He is the perfect Irishman and gives her a little tour while she waits for her hotel room to be ready. Instantly she feels a connection but she knows that its a little soon for things like that. When he gives her places to visit NOT on the tourist list, she initially doesn't take his advice, but on the last day she finally does, and is surprised to find him as a tour guide there. Seems fate wants to bring them together, and even more so later that night. It is Leap Day, the day that women propose to their men, so when she's a bit knackered.. she does just that, and she wakes up married to this man she just met.
In order to figure things out, they both return to LA and decide to try to navigate life as a couple until they can get things settled. There are lots of bumps along the way, but these two are perfect together. It seems that way until a little lie is uncovered that could bring things crashing down. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and found myself smiling through the whole book.
The narrator was perfect and the accents were well done. Thank you to Ann Marie Walker, Dreamscape and Netgalley for an early audio copy.

This story was SO fun!
Far fetched at times? For sure...but it worked! I love when an author leans into providing a good time to the reader without over-complicating stories or their characters relationships. Ann Marie Walker totally nailed that here and I just loved my trip to Ireland in the pages of this book.
I do think we could have had more of Finn's POV, but all in all this was a sweet read, one that I had a hard time putting down and will definitely be recommending to others!

Sweet, low angst, closed door, romance. The cute cover complete with Oscar the dog invites you to read this feel good book. Cara takes a weekend trip to Dublin. Her boyfriend who she was supposed to be with dumps her two weeks before. On day one she meets Uber driver Finn Maguire, a sweet talking Irish man. While site-seeing she runs into Finn again and ends up drinking at a pub where he is performing. She wakes up the morning after realizing she has a few hours to catch her flight back to California and that she is married to Finn.
Cara is an assistant at a talent agency, paying her dues and hopes to be a screen play writer. With Finn and Oscar (his dog) sharing her small Malibu bungalow she needs to figure out how to get out of her marriage and move forward with her career. But playing house with Finn is very fun.
This is silly and fun. The first half flew for me and the second half slowed down a little as things got a little more far-fetched. It is told from Cara's POV and at times I was frustrated at how little I knew about Finn. But I knew I was going to be in favor of the HEA. The epilogue told from the dogs POV was brilliant and funny. I listened to the audio book and the narration by Cady Zuckerman enhance the story. Especially her Irish accent for Finn. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audiobook in exchange for an honest review. (3.5 stars)
