This is a cute children's book for young children aged 4-8. It is about a young boy and his dragon who are looking at what happens at breakfast time. The book has short sentences and beautiful illustrations which describe words such as dear dragon, mother, eat, breakfast, table, menu, pancakes, bacon and eggs. There are also Word Work and Activity sections at the end of the book, which are useful. My daughter and I loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

This is a brilliant, simple but engaging level 1 reading for three to five year olds. I find this series of books much more interesting than the books that my nine year old learnt to read with. Five stars ⭐

I really enjoy these Dear Dragon books. We've only recently been introduced to this series and I think they're perfect for beginner readers! This specific book takes us on an outing for breakfast. The story is broken down into simple sentences with matching illustrations to help readers. I feel this is better for readers who are a little farther along in their learning as the sentences are simple, but not as simple as basic 4 or 5 word sentences. I still think this was a great book and would make a great addition to a library of a beginner reader!

This is a really cute books for beginning readers! The pictures are engaging and colorful. The story has interesting, yet simple words. And I think the dragon will be a great way to engage reluctant readers. I also appreciate how there are activities in the back of the story!

As discussed in my review of a previous book in this series, I have 2 autistic children aged 6 and 9 years who are both still at an emerging reading level. The previous book I read, ‘I love winter, dear dragon’, I read with my youngest child as that was an earlier reading level than this book. So I decided to read this book with my elder child. I do struggle to find early reading books that are suitable for my 9 year old. He does have a reading level of a much younger child, although he has a higher maturity level so he often finds the books aimed at his reading level to be very “babyish” and he doesn’t feel inspired to even try and read them. He loves tales of myths and legends, so the dragon in this story appealed to him and he also loves pancakes so he enjoyed reading about the breakfast element as well. I have to admit he did struggle with some of the language, but as I say, he’s still at quite an emerging level of reading and there was a time when I would be met with refusal and meltdown when trying to get him to read anything, so this is definitely an improvement. Books are one of his favourite things to look at and he really enjoyed the illustrations in this book.

This is a short book for early readers that is thoughtfully laid out to help develop vocabulary and critical reading skills. The dragon character is cute and great for kids to follow along on other adventures.

Dear Dragon Goes Out for Breakfast by Marla Conn is a book in the Dear Dragon series for developing readers. According to the synopsis, the book is about "when a boy, his pet dragon, and Mother go out for breakfast,.. They eat pancakes, bacon, eggs and more." The sentences themselves are simple, which makes sense, since this book is for a Level C reader. I did notice that the sentences are more natural-sounding and more complex than the sentences in the Level A and B books. I took off 1 star, because I found the pictures somewhat lacking. Some children's books are read over and over, because children adore the illustrations. Unfortunately, you won't find that here.

As a teacher, I liked that there is a picture dictionary at the beginning of this book in a section called "words in this book." I also liked common sight words (without pictures) were included. Often, when introducing vocabulary books, we focus on words that have pictures and forget about words like "a," "it," and "the." I also liked the activity pages at the end of the book, which include "words in context" (fill in the blank sentences) and "activity" (labeling a picture and connecting Dragon's breakfast with the reader's breakfast). Those are definitely useful activities that will help kids academically. If you're looking for a book for a Level C reader, I recommend that you check out this series, which is available now!

Review of Dear dragon goes out for breakfast-Dear dragon developing reader (Level C) by Marla Conn. This is a good children's book about a young boy who lives with his mum and owns a pet dragon. It talks about how the one day go out for breakfast and what fun the have eating the food the love. The book uses good words and drawings suitable for children. The writer uses short sentences phrased well enough to bring out the sounds of words and new words that children should be learning both to spell and pronounce. The book could be read to or given to children to read of all ages.

I love, love, love the Dear Dragon books. This one is so cute. I really like (as an educator) that the books tell you what level they are so you know the readability for your students. I teach multiple grade levels and all of my young students like these books and look forward to us reading them. The teacher resources are so great to have. Great for vocabulary building at a level C.

"Dear Dragon Goes Out For Breakfast" by Marla Conn is a Level C reader. It is a bright beautiful book inspiring young emerging readers to increase their skills.
Conn writes with repeative words and sentences sequences. The books are basic, but interesting topics teaching children vocabulary words and thinking skills. I highly recommend this series of books to start young reader on a life long love of books!
