This is a good book. The two main characters are Violet and Connor. Violet is a nurse and Connor is a doctor, they both work in the ER of the hospital. Connor is a divorced dad and has 3 sons. There is a mutual attraction. They have issues from ex-wife, car accidents, children and jealousy. But together they work it all out and fall in love.
3.5 stars
This was a fun and quick read. There were some laugh out loud moments. The love story very insta-love. There wasn't that much conflict. But the humour was funny and I liked the way Emma Chase wrote from the male point of view and the witty lines/moments that happened with the brothers.
Oh, Connor.
I totally dug this divorced doctor, single dad, older brother, that is Connor Daniels.
He's got his S together, oh, not in the dating thing, he's got a 35 and up rule, as he's forty. I love the age-appropriate bent though its mitigated by his crush on Violet Robinson, the ten year younger nurse he works with. Violet is awesome at her job but clumsy in real life and had a mad crush on Connor.
Sweet, steamy, fun, real and engaging.
Recommend.
I love Emma Chase! Getting Real is a love story about Conner and Violet. Conner is an ER doctor and Violet his nurse. Both characters have similar interests but real life obstacles are keeping them apart. Conner is a single parent to three teens and Violet has raised her siblings. The sparks fly as these two weave their way into a romance. Then tragedy strikes that will have you grabbing tissues.
Conner and Violet's story was amazing and I gave this book 5 stars. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting!
Emma Chase is a gift. She's an auto purchase for me and I was beyond delighted to get a galley of this! I read it in one sitting when I should have been studying and I regret nothing! This addition to her small town series has the humor, heart, steam and happy feels that the previous two books have had and then some. Very low angst, very high heat and I love me a good single dad romance. The kids in Emma's books are always award winners for supporting characters for me and Connor's kids are no different. I loved revisiting the other Daniels brothers and now have the overwhelming urge to re read the first two. If you love Emma and romance in general this one is a no brainer!
This book was a perfect combination of fun, sexy and entertaining. I really enjoyed reading it. Especially, all that banter and angst laced with raw and authentic emotions made it absolutely perfect!!
Emma Chase is always lovely. Wait, let me say it again! Emma Chase is always lovely. Her books make me happy inside like meeting a friend for tea and desserts.
Getting Real tells the story of Conner, an Emergency Room Doctor, newly divorced and just trying to raise his three sons. Enter Violet, a clumsy but smart ER nurse who has the hots for the doctor and he doesn't know! Lots of meet cutes in this one. If you are a fan of Chase's other works, you'll find characters from her other books within this story, which is lovely. Real people dealing with real life issues is sometimes nice to deal with and this story has them all. Ex-wives, children, family, work struggles, but Chase keeps it interesting, a little hot, and is a great conclusion to the trilogy.
I've missed reading Emma Chase. I know, I know, it's all my fault. Emma has such a unique take on writing male pov.
Getting Real is simply fun. It sounds trite, but I enjoyed it. I'm not normally one for age-gap romances, but this one worked. Both Connor and Violet are mature adults, with mature interactions and not ones to waste time playing games.
I loved reading about the progress of their relationship. Violet's connection with Connor's kids - big plus. Connor being a commanding, calm, charming ER doctor - worked for me. Authentic, real, moving ER experiences had me having a Grey's Anatomy moment. Each kid had his own personality and I loved that!
I had a fun time reading Getting Real! Thanks to Netgalley and Mary at Valentine pr for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Thanks to Netgalley and Emma Chase LLc for providing this ARC.
I loved this story. I love single-parent romances and this one really hit home since my husband is also a doctor. I loved the dynamic between Connor and Violet, how after his first marriage was so difficult, that his relationship with Violet was so easy.
Some things I didn't enjoy: I didn't enjoy the slight 'red pill' moments early on in the book that Connor seemed to engage in at the behest of his younger brother. I didn't feel like that was resolved adequately with the main characters. Additionally, I don't like how the major source of conflict came from the ex-wife as opposed to Connor's inability to communicate effectively with his partner.
Overall, it was a fun read and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I will be seeking out Emma Chase books in the future.
