I was really interested in this 20 years later story featuring Leo and Luciana’s daughter, Evianna, and Quentin, who we met as a nine year old boy in The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea. This book was just as action-packed as the rest of the series and it only helped enhance the romance of the story too!

While this book could work as a standalone, I highly recommend reading at least The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea just so there’s a better understanding of Quentin’s childhood and how the events in that book parallel the ones in this one.

I really hope there’s another book planned in the world of the Embraced because I’m curious about the futures of a few other characters. But overall, this is a great series to read if you want a quick, adventurous, and flirty read!

*I received an ARC from Kensington Books in exchange for my honest opinion.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is from the off shoot of the Embraced Series that I loved. I just was not in love with this. The characters in this just were really childish. I just wasn’t in love with this just an okay read.

Kerrelyn Sparks wrote one of my favourite series - Love at Stake. It's fun, romantic and humorous and I know what to expect from her writing and it didn't disappoint. It can be read as a standalone but for the full enjoyment, you definitely need to read this series in order otherwise you're missing out.

When a Princess Proposes was a great read - not my favourite from the author, but maybe my standards were too high from her other series. There were moments where I felt my attention drifting away and I took a few breaks from the novel, but overall I did enjoy it.

This was such a fun book. You have a princess and a shifter and so many secrets. It was really fun to see how this book in the series use the characters in a different way. There are some mysteries that still need to be solved, but all in all, this was a fun book.

**I was provided an Excerpt by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for honest review.**

Reader's Note: This is the sixth book of the Embraced Series. It's labeled as Book 3, but it's actually Book 6 in a fabulous series published by two separate publishers.

"Aerthlan’s five Embraced queens have reigned for twenty years, in peace secured by the power of their magic. But now a new and insidious threat has appeared, to test a new generation."

I absolutely love this series. When I found out that Kerrelyn Sparks planned on writing more books in this world, continuing the story of the Embraced, I was thrilled. Eviana and Quentin, the princess and the spy, are a sweet and adventurous story that can be predicable at times but nevertheless a joy to read. 5/5 stars.

This was just as bonkers but fun loke the Embraced series! I'm loving the start of this new spin off series with the next generation! It had the perfect mix of romance, steam and humor just like the other books! So excited for more!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series. It reads ok as a stand alone, but you know its part of a bigger story. For me, this was just ok. The characters were likeable. Just not my favorite. 3.5 stars

Full of wonder, magic and love…

There is magic in these pages! With touches of medieval, fantasy, paranormal and romance, just really good storytelling brings it all together in stories of wonder and, yes, magic… This extension of the original series has more of what I loved….

This is Quentin and Eviana’s story and it was un-put-down-able. With all the elements this series is known for, including family, love, loyalty and humour, with Quentin involved you know it would include a healthy dose of intrigue and hopefully (not so un-requited) love. Entrusted to find any and all secrets that might threaten their realm and those they loved, the pair were united in the latest quest. No matter what the cost…

Magic didn’t mean all was well. Feelings of self-worth are waged even in a fantasy and made Quentin relatable and (still) one of my favourite characters….

Stand up for your man
This book is nothing short of magical! I absolutely loved the characters. The princess is an absolute spitfire and once she sets her sights on that special eagle shifter it’s pretty much all she wrote. Okay! Not really, there are bad guys, weird guys, and even some good guys along the way, one being the aforementioned eagle shifter. But he is not alone. I absolutely loved reading the romance in the air as these two couples traveled towards the truth and their HEAs. The author kept the intensity high with plenty of action and danger, and she kept the romance alive with each emotional interlude. This book was truly captivating and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

When a Princess Proposes takes place twenty years after the big battle on the Isle of Secrets. The intervening years have been filled with peace for our ruling couples and their kingdoms, however Queen Maeve has seen a new threat on the horizon. The embraced are in trouble.
This book follows Eviana, the daughter of Queen Luciana and King Leo and Quentin, who was one of the embraced children liberated from the Isle of Secrets. Quentin has secretly been in love with Eviana for six years and doesn't think he is worthy of her. When Eviana is put in danger the two of them team up to deal with the threat and ofcourse adventure and love ensue.
I loved getting to meet a grown up Eviana and am looking forward to more adventures of this new generation of embraced. This was a fantastic addition to this series!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When a Princess Proposes jumps 20 years and features the children of the original 5 "sisters" and some of the children rescued from the Isle of Secrets. This book features Eviana, Luciana and Leo's daughter. She has been very protected and basically hidden away in the castle. Evie's parents have been having balls, trying to introduce her to suitors. The one thing that must stay hidden is Evie's powers.

Quentin is one of those children that was rescued from the Isle and now uses his skill of changing into a bird to be a spy for the different countries. He feels beneath the others, set apart from the families as if he were lower class. He is in love with Evie, but believes he will never have her because he is not worthy of a princess.

Despite the Seer's first prediction that the Aerthlan would be safe for many years, she is now seeing a dark, dangerous cloud coming. It starts out with some Embraced disappearing in small towns in ways that no one would really expect it was because they were Embraced, but Quentin puts it together and starts an investigation. Then Princess Eviana is attacked on her trip to Norveshka to visit her aunt. To save the barge and the men aboard, she decides she can't hide her power any longer. Her power knocks everyone within range out. However, it also knocks out the men on the barge, so she jumps into the water to try and get away from the attackers before they wake.

This starts the adventure to find out who is killing the Embraced as well as who was trying to take Eviana. She refuses to be left out and thinks she can use the time to win over Quentin.

I enjoyed the adventure the group was on. The plan didn't always go as planned and needed to be adjusted a few times. The Brotherhood had spies everywhere and no one knew who they could trust. The spies they had were all Embraced so it was hard to know who to trust. There were a lot of surprises and that aspect of the story kept me reading.

The whole storyline of Evie and Quentin was just a bit too immature and silly for me. It took away from the adventure and had many cringey moments. I admit I skimmed some of those scenes. It did get to a happy ending, but I was more impressed with the way everyone conquered the Brotherhood versus the resolution of the romance portion. I don't see it classified as such, but I would more likely put this in a new adult category.

However, if you just want a fluffy, easy read, this could definitely work. It does skimp a bit on world-building, but not badly. It is to be expected when it is book six in a series. But since it is generation skip, you can definitely get by without the previous books.

I received an e-copy of When a Princess Proposes (Embraced by Magic Book 3) from Kensington Books and Netgalley. Even though I have been gifted this book for review, all opinions are my own.

This is my review of When a Princess Proposes (Embraced by Magic Book 3) by Kerrelyn Sparks.

This series just keeps getting better with each read. I have loved this series since book one. It's beautiful to be back in this world as we follow the new generation. Plus, it’s nice to see characters we already know and love. Like the main series of books, this has just the right amount of romance and intrigue. Also, the writing style is engaging and enjoyable. I cannot wait to continue with these new adventures.
Highly recommend it if you enjoy fantasy romance books.

This book was fun. It was full of action, adventure, and constant movement. Eviana is a sheltered princess who has powers. Quentin is an eagle shifter who is a King’s spy and in love with her. They team up to help her on her quest about her powers. The supporting characters did added flavor to story. During the book we can see as the couple begins to grow up. I also see this as a start in a series. I would recommend this book.

Kerrelyn Sparks gives us a modern fairytale with an active and attractive princess in When a Princess Proposes.
Princess Eviana is one of the embraces, an individual with a magic talent; she can clap and put all around her to sleep. Quentin, an eagle shifter, is a spy for the king and in love at a distance with Eviana. He saves her life and is sent on a clandestine mission with her to find out who is murdering the Embraced and targeting the royal family.
Can mutual romance be far behind. Read a surprising and pleasing fantasy for the modern reader.

This is the fourth book in the Embraced Magic series. This was a very simple story. It is mostly a romance that has a dash of action mixed in it. The characters are likable, and the story is very well-written! I recommend this for fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, and Ilona Andrews!

The latest in Kerrelyn's EMBRACED BY MAGIC series, this was a story about duty and loyalty and longing. Lots of chemistry between two people who are perfect for each other and yet can never be together.

I love the intricate world that Kerrelyn has built for this series with ever-present magic and powers that the characters welcome or fear. The entire series is a rich mythology and each story is so romantic!

Ahhhhh this was just such a great read. I just didn't want this book to end and I was sad to turn the last page. I'm so excited to see what's next from this author.

Love the continuing storyline. I’ve only read a couple of the previous novels, but I love that the second generation is carrying on the story. An intriguing story of a princess who isn’t satisfied to accept the expectations that society has put on her as a princess. She knows what she wants and she won’t be held back. We watch her discover her true strength and blossom not only in romance but also as a leader. Loved it!

I thought the Embraced by Magic series had ended when all the sisters found their matches, but I'm so happy to see that we're continuing to explore their world with their children!
It's been 20 years since the princesses defeated evil and brought peace to all their lands but a new evil is coming and it's up to the new generation to fight it. First up is Leo and Luciana's youngest daughter, Eviana, and one of the embraced children we meet in the last volume as an all-grown-up eagle shifter, Quentin. She's the pampered and secluded princess and he's the best spy and messenger in all four kingdoms. They've barely even met, let alone talked, but Quentin is madly in love with the princess when he's tasked with joining her on a secret mission to find who is behind the newest threat to the kingdoms' peace.
It's everything I look for in a fantasy romance with the added bonus of another great romance as an integral part of the plot and the seeds for what I'm really hoping will be the couple in the following book. My one complaint is that Eviana is so naive that it's really more annoying than charming. THe innocent line is a hard one to toe, and Sparks does it well most of the time, but there were a couple of significant moments in the book where Eviana's naivete was almost a joke rather than the quirky, charming trait I'm sure Sparks was aiming for.
Overall, it's a solid fantasy story with well-defined good and evil sides, a lot of romance, very interesting gray characters, and a rather intriguing continuation to a series I already loved. There really was no way I was going to be able to remain impartial with this one, but it really is a great read.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the great read!
