I so love the people of Honey Creek and this entire series of books about them. I truly hope there is another one because I need more of them, especially Lilly and Mr Wilson. I do so love Pop and Mason too.
Jodi Thomas writes books that draw the reader with characters so easy to love, root for and want to be a part of their lives. I truly enjoyed this book for a sweet, engrossing and easy read.
This book and any in the series are able to be read as a stand alone. They have carry over characters, but each one is a separate story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley.
I did not know this was a series and I look forward to reading more. This book has a bit of mystery as well as love. It does have multiple characters and their stories in this book. It flows very well together. The main characters are my favorite. Jessica Ann McKenzie (Jam) and Tuscon. Tuscon is in town to spend time with his brother when he meets Jam as he climbs out of the creek covered in mud. He helps his brother with a possible murder case and so that keeps him in town longer then he expected and gives him time to spend with Jam. I could not read fast enough to see where this book went. You will not be disappointed with this book.
Jessica Ann McKenzie are "Jam" is sitting by the river. Her restaurant has closed for the night, and she is sitting by the river. She hears a noise and Seargent Tuscon Smith climbs out of the water. He is in town for his baby brothers to be sworn in as the new sheriff. Tuscon is taken to the restaurant to get cleaned up. He ends up sleeping on the bed next to Jam.
Mason McCoy crashed his mustang on the interstate and ends up in the hospital. With a broken leg and his job lost, place to live and his fiancé going back to Georgia he has nowhere to go. He does know his grandfather lives in Honey Creek; but he has never meet him. He ends up on the bus to town just for a place to heal up.
Charles Winston has his eye on one of the ladies he goes to lunch with and decides to make his move even if they are both retired.
I have read all the Honey Creek books and just love the way Jodi ties the stories together.

Another wonderful book set in Honey Creek Texas. Jessica is still running the inn. One Sunday night she is down by the river and a large handsome soldier come out of the river. Tucson is the brother to Pecos, now the new Sheriff. Then we meet McCoy who was in an accident and comes back to his Grandfather’s place to heal. Along with all of Jodi Thomas books there are so ma y wonderful characters to get to know and love. It was a delightful book.
Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and author for providing a copy of this book for my honest review. I love Jodi Thomas. She is easily one of my favorite authors of all time. No one can write small Texas towns like she does. This story is just as wonderful with full of life characters in small-town Texas. She builds each character in such a way where the reader cares for each one and can’t get enough. I love how she intertwines them characters and their storylines. She makes you want to move to each town she writes about! You will want to move right in this story and befriend these characters like all of her other books. Everyone who loves small towns and exploring the inner workings of the people who live in those small towns will absolutely love this book. 5 stars for me! Thank you again Net Galley!
Sunday at the Sunflower Inn by Jodi Thomas is the fourth book in her Honey Creek series. This book is about four couples. The senior citizen couple, Charles H. Winston III and Miss Lily Lambert have enjoyed life even though neither one ever married. Both decide to see what being a couple is like so become engaged but have no plans to marry. Jessica Ann McKenzie better known as Jam who owns the Honey Creek Cafe meets Sergeant Tucson Smith and even though they didn't seem like a likely couple I think they surprised themselves and fell in love. The third couple is an example of young love. Melody and Mike know how they feel and nothing can change that. Then there's McCoy Mason and the local veterinarian Baylor Branton. Talk about fighting the pull...
I really enjoyed this book. The storyline flowed well and the characters are very likable. The relationship development of the couples was realistic. This is an interesting, well-paced book.
This is my first Jodi Thomas book but definitely not my last. If I could give this more than 5* I would. The book involves four storylines including McCoy Mason and his grandfather Sadler, Melody and her love Michael, Jessica (Jam) and Tucson and Mr. Winston and Lilly.
McCoy Mason works construction but was injured in an auto accident so no where to go because he can’t work right now. He heads out to live with his grandfather who hasn’t had any contact with McCoy ever. The incident McCoy gets into while helping his grandfather was one I couldn’t wait to see how it ended.
Jam runs a cafe in Honey Creek and she happens upon Tucson one night at the River. Tucson is the newly elected sheriff Pecos’s brother and he is there for the swearing in for his brother. Loved how Jam and Tuscon ended up with each other, especially after knowing what Jam had been through.
Melody is being raised by two professors and they are strict with her dating life but she meets Michael at the library secretly and is in love. Michael is joining the service and as a soon as Melody is old enough she will be with him. Pure young love at its best.
And, sweet Mr. Winston and Lily were so cute as a couple. Mr. Winston would take three women out for lunch every week and he fell in love with Lily who had never been married. It was so much fun with this relationship.
I received this as an ARC from Netgalley and the author for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
They say things are bigger in Texas, but they’re also more outrageous, more humorous, more poignant, and more heartfelt. As only Jodi Thomas can do, she weaves together an unforgettable tale of family, community, redemption, and new beginnings.
Three generations of stoic, grumpy, men find each other again, reunited over the rocky land they’re determined to protect. A group of seniors go wild, their antics inspired by two friends who never married but have decided to get engaged in their twilight years. A runaway girl hides out in the haunted Honey Creek Café as she searches for her lost love. A career soldier who thrives on seeing the world is inexplicably drawn to a café owner with deep roots who causes him to rethink his life.
Reading a Jodi Thomas book is like a long, lazy afternoon, floating down the calm river while the cool water tickles your fingertips and the warm sun kisses your face. No pressure and low angst with an invigorating rocky ripple or two, and by the end, your soul is renewed and your heart satisfied. With this quintessential queen of wholesome romance you'll escape to a world you'll wish were real and want to stay there forever.
These authentic, endearing characters will quietly make a place for themselves in your heart where you’ll cherish their experiences and life lessons long after the last page. Their charming stories will make your soul sing and your heart happy sigh, so make sure you don’t miss this delightfully sweet, poignantly touching, masterfully crafted, unparalleled read!
Charming. That one word describes Jodi Thomas and her works of literary art. You might question how that word could be used for a story that centers on a bloody crime in a quaint picturesque town, so remember this, Jodi Thomas.
There is a rather huge cast of characters that seem impossible to keep track of, but again this author loves to introduce a multitude of folk in her tales. And somehow within a brief time you begin to recognize the character, the relationships and then wonder just how they will be all be included in the story plot.
It is all part of an adventure, and we are invited to join in the fun. So perhaps we are expected to be armchair detectives. Or just a fly on the wall as some lovely romances commence in this town. Either way you are immediately entranced. Just as Jodi Thomas planned.
I am a huge fan of this prolific author. Have enjoyed reading and reviewing whenever possible. It is never too late to discover an author. SUNDAY AT THE SUNFLOWER INN will welcome many new fans.
So here is the dilemma. Which characters should stand out in my review. Certainly Jam and her cafe which is central to the town and its people. Jam has lived her life as a rather lonely single woman resigned to the fact that there is to be no love of her life. So she has settled for that keeping busy at her cafe and enjoying relationships with her patrons. And then one evening a military man enters her life. Unexpectedly Jam finds herself attracted to this stranger. Tucson is the brother of the newly sworn sheriff. His career is in military investigation, and he was to be gone from this small town in just a matter of hours. Tucson finds himself involved in the first investigation of his brother Pecos being sheriff.
Then there is Mason McCoy and his grandfather Sadler. Both have a heart of gold. Each has lived an alone life but now that Mason has dumped himself on Sadler’s ranch, they are finding some joy with the company. Trouble is sniffing around local farms and while Mason’s talent is in construction he is well versed in fixing things. There are things that need fixing in Honey Creek. Mason just may have found a place to land.
And finally is a charming senior couple. Winston and his miss Lilly. Guaranteed to win a place in your heart, as do all Jodi Thomas characters.
Jodi Thomas gives her characters personality and lovable flaws. Her talent is firmly entrenched in the words on each page, her gift of literary gab. She constructs good sturdy folk which illustrates how much thought, care and creativity is invested in this story. Keep in mind at the bottom there is a crime to be solved. Jodi Thomas maps out a twisted plot with dozens of folks connected, no stone unturned and words minced. So pay attention the clues are all there. Looking for a great summer read, look no further than SUNDAY AT THE SUNFLOWER INN by Jodi Thomas.
As always a great cast of characters each with his own story. The story line is interesting. No easy solutions to some of the romances but a lot of hope at the end
With her new novel, Sunday at the Sunflower Inn, Jodi Thomas proves why she is my favorite comfort read author. This is book four in the series but easily stands alone. That said, if you love a good comfort read I highly recommend any of her books.
As usual, Jodi Thomas writes relatable (on one level or another) characters and situations. I won’t rehash the synopsis included above. I enjoy that she always includes characters of different generations in a way that isn’t caricature. In this book there is young love between a teen couple, love in the 30s for a few people, and love at last for a couple who thought it might have passed them by.
Told with the warmth and humor I’ve come to expect this was a book with characters I wasn’t ready to leave by the last page. Recommended to fans of the author and contemporary women’s romantic fiction.
This book has several different stories all set in a small Texas town. In the end all the stories are tied together. The author makes you feel like you could travel to Texas and find a small town just like this. I loved the characters. This book is part of a series but could be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I’m a huge fan of this series.
There is something special about this town. And every time I visit I literally feel as though I’m strolling through and smelling the flowers. I love that there is multiple storylines as well as a wee bit of intrigue in every book. The town is so full of unique wonderful people. And in todays climate…it sure is a wonderful place to go.
Jodi: Thanks for allowing me to read and review your latest book SUNDAY AT SUNFLOWER INN. I truly enjoyed this story. Your character development is on point, as usual. I Like the way you can switch so easily from first person female to first person male. And it doesn’t matter the age of the characters. Feels like I could drive to Honey Creek, TX and go right into any scene, eat at the Cafe, walk into the Sherriff’s office with some muffins or drive up near Pop’s farm to see the wildflowers in Spring. As your stories always do, this leaves me wanting to read more. Especially of McCoy & Baylor, Jam & Tucson. I’d say this is another 5-star book.
Jodi Thomas has a written another best. Her writing style brings the reader into each story and makes them feel apart of it. Sunday at Sunflower Inn is the fourth book in the Honey Creek series. It can be read as a standalone however, I look forward to going back and reading the first three. With four different story lines to follow in this book, it was hard to get started. But once the reader starts it becomes apparent that each part tells a wonderful story which comes together at the end into a beautiful ending. I received a copy through Netgalley. I review was not required.
I really don't know how Jodi Thomas does it. If her books centered only on one couple in the small towns that she creates I would be happy. She somehow puts multiple romances (characters of all ages) in her books, weaves them together so that nothing seems strained and even throws in a mystery in the town to keep things hopping on all fronts. Her characters are all people you would like to know and wish you could go tell your secrets to.
Sunday at the Sunflower Inn is a pleasure to read and a wonderful escape!
I was gifted a copy of this book via the author and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Fabulous! 5 Stars! Loved it! I couldn't read fast enough, but I didn't want it to end. I hope the characters in this book show up in the next book of the series. I am not ready to let any of them go. I feel invested in all of their lives. Isn't that how a great book should be? It just grabs you and you live vicariously through the lives of the characters on the page. We all know Jodi Thomas is the ultimate storyteller and this book is the perfect example.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
The fourth book in the Honey Creek series, Sunday at the Sunflower Inn, takes us back to many of the characters we've grown to love. Woven into this book, we meet some new characters and some others who were mentioned in one or more of the preceding books.
Ms. Thomas has the ability to take divergent points of view, with the characters 'take' on what is happening, and build them into a satisfying story. It may seem disjointed if you haven't read any of the other books in the series, but as it begins to coalesce, you can see where her characters took her!
There are distinct 'stories' within Sunday at the Sunflower Inn. They all do lead to an ending that ties up most of the tendrils of the different stories, but also leaves the reader with the sense that there is more coming.
Great book. Great story. I recommend!
I was gifted an e-copy of this book by the publisher. The review is my own.
What a sweet, heart warming story about love, family, and being true to yourself. I loved the variety of couples from older generations to younger. This was a unique cast of characters that meshed together to make a wonderful story.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a heartwarming book. It’s a bout four different couples across different generations. Everyone is loosely connected. There are a lot of funny moments, along with angst and a mystery. There’s a lot of self reflection. I really enjoyed this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
