Loved this twist on The Parent Trap! Ali Brady is two different writers and I had no idea until the acknowledgements. I got a bit confused at times between the characters (and their love interests) but for the most part their voices are pretty distinct. I liked that Blake was smart and self-sufficient, though Kat's snobbery got annoying, even if she did show growth. I am a sucker for home renovation and beach stories so this was right up my alley.
I loved this book! The relationships in this book are real and heartwarming. The romance is sexy and fun. The sisterhood is everything!
Ok, this book was fantastic and the perfect summer read! I devoured it. It's got the perfect mix of steam, drama, and the perfect location for it all to go down! I loved that the story started off at summer camp and how their relationship to each other was revealed. What a tangled web! It made for a fun plot line and banter between the two. The side characters are equally as great and it was a joy to read as everything wrapped up so nicely between the two sisters!
A great debut for Ali Brady! really enjoyed this one! Such a good story about relationships. I liked that the sister relationship was at the forefront but of course enjoyed the unexpected romances as well!
Really a perfect summer time read.
I loved getting to know these sisters separately and as they learned to come together and be a family.
The romances were so fun and I loved getting more than one love story in this book! Also all the home renovations is always a good time in a book for me! I feel I’ve read these a lot in books this year, but honestly not upset about that!
Loved this author duo and can’t wait to read more by them!
4.5 stars, rounded up.
Romance, family drama, house renovations, and a beautiful beach setting—could you ask for more? If this sounds up your alley, check out The Beach Trap.
Kat and Blake became inseparable best friends at camp the summer they were 12 years old. But as the summer ends they make a shocking discovery: they’re half-sisters, and Blake hasn’t seen their father in years. Devastated by this betrayal, Kat breaks off all contact with Blake.
Fifteen years later, their father dies and leaves both of them the family’s beach house in Destin, Florida. Blake wants to sell it as soon as possible because she needs the money to care for her grandfather, but Kat wants to hang onto the place that held so many memories for her.
The house is run down, so the sisters—in a rare moment of agreement—decide that they will renovate it and at the end of the summer, Kat will buy Blake out. But while Blake does most of the work, Kat, a popular social media influencer, wants complete creative control, which causes more friction between the former friends.
Meanwhile, both embark on summer romances, although Blake finds a man with family secrets of his own. Can the happiness they’ve found last more than the summer? Will the sisters be able to find their way through their past resentments and hurt in order to rebuild their relationship? And what will happen to the house?
This was such an enjoyable read. It had everything I love in a book—even an adorable dog—and I was immersed from start to finish. It’s definitely a bit steamy, but it’s also poignant, funny, and sweet.

This was a fun book! It has similarities to The Parent Trap, but in a fun, grown up, beachy way. The main characters meet at summer camp when they are 12 and discover that they are half sisters, but never speak again. About 15 years later, their dad dies and leaves them the family beach house. They need to renovate it and learn how to get along with each other. It was predictable but so fun!
The writing quality isn't the best and I had a hard time getting into the story, it was too predictable
This book is one of the fastest reads!!! I LOVED IT!!! Family secrets/drama, romance, found family, & self discovery.
I loved the Blake storyline so much! Kat is a harder character to like, but she does get redemption.
It really was a page turner & breezy to get through. I recommend this for my fellow romance beach readers for sure!!
I enjoyed this moving story of best friends separated by a shocking family revelation, and then brought together again years later to find what made them friends in the first place. There is the perfect amount of emotional drama, balanced by funny moments, and enhanced with romance. I listened to the audiobook in one day and the narrators did an amazing job. I can't wait to red more from this fantastic author duo!
I thought this book was going to be more of a Parent Trap vibe, but it was darker than that. I thought it was kind of crummy of the dad to leave things the way he did, but I also thought that was kind of a good trick that he played on them. The way the story unfolded was interesting, although I don’t know that it was very realistic.
Check out Ali Brady’s book, The Beach Trap for the ultimate beach read. Kat & Blake are friends from summer camp who learn they are half sisters. When their father passes away he leaves them with a vacation home in Florida that forces these two sworn enemies to come together after 15 years of not speaking to renovate it but will they be able to ever get over this life altering secret that tore them apart in the first place?
This may seem like a rom-com, but it has more depth to the story than you may initially think. My favorite book growing up was The Parent Trap so it was no surprise that I enjoyed this twist on the book. We have half-sisters, Kat and Blake, who initially start out as friends at camp before realizing they share the same father.
Their very different upbringings shape their outlook on life, their trust, and their emotional issues about themselves and their futures. I enjoyed the depth of their personalities, slowly revealed so that the reader understands why they act as they do.
Yes, there's romance, but there's so much more. There's heart, history, and hope. A fun read whether you're at the beach or snuggled in a blanket during cold winter months - the story will bring beautiful Destin, Florida, to you to warm your heart!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this heartfelt story.
THE BEACH TRAP was such a wonderful story of friendship and found family. I saved this book for the perfect time to read it; on a beach trip of course!
Kat and Blake meet at Summer Camp, becoming friends until the fated day that Kat gets the devastating news that her grandfather passed away and her Father has come to pick her up early from camp. It’s here that fate has brought the two friends together, only to realize that they share the same Dad, tearing their friendship apart.
15 years later, now young adults, Kat and Blake must reunite once again as they get the news that they have each inherited the family beach house in desperate need of repair.
Alternating with Kat and Blake’s POV, this story was full of angst, love, laughs, and pulled at my heartstrings, and I loved it so much!
*many thanks to Berkley for the gifted copy for review
Blake and Kat meet at summer camp and it's instant besties. They have no clue they might be related until Kat's father picks her up from camp. That father is also Blake's father.
Dad eventually dies and leaves both young women the beach house. They both must agree to work together to get it into condition where they can even sell it. Kat is all about her presence to social media. Her blog is read by thousands. Her biggest concern is that her polish matches her outfits. Blake is barely scraping by, trying to keep her grandfather in a nursing home where his increasing dementia forces him to have care.
Kat feels some attachment to the beach house; Blake has no attachment to it. Both somehow need to work together to rehab the house so it can be flipped. They each have strong ideas about how this project needs to be accomplished and they spend a lot of time squabbling with each other. Blake learns how to carpenter and they eventually work out a tenuous agreement.
The story is not a comedy, but a story of how two diverse people come together to solve a problem. Each woman forms their own team, and it is easy to take sides. They each have a lot of emotional stuff to work through. I found Blake the more likeable, and far more down to earth. Kat is completely concerned with what other people think; Blake could not care less.
How they solve the problem of The Beach House makes for an entertaining read.
Blake was a really good character but Kat was very immature and at times I wanted to just skip reading when she was on the page. The beach house renovations were interesting along with the romance. A quick beach read that may not appeal to a larger audience.
This was a DNF for me... for some reason, I just couldn't get into it. I tried... I really did! I have friends who have read and recommended it, but it just wasn't for me. I may give it another shot at a later date, but I had so many books that just HOOKED me that this one got pushed to the wayside.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group, Berkley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really wanted to like this, but it didn't come together for me. A third round purchase for most libraries
The Beach Trap is one of my favorite books I’ve read this year! I loved the sisterly component, plus two love stories in one. Perfect beach read!
Estranged half-sisters inherit a dilapidated beach house when their father dies. One is desperate to sell, the other wants to hold onto the memories. Either way, they need to get over their differences and fix up the home! #partner @berkleypub @berkleyromance
I loved the romances that bloomed for each woman with town locals. They were mature relationships where each party actually communicated like adults! I love a good home renovation book, so that made me happy too.
