I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This book has some great twists and turns. It keeps your attention from the first page. Michael, Brooke and Izzy's characters are fantastic. This book is Set between Nevada and Montana. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This book will be in stores on March 1, 2022 for $16.99 (USD). I will definitely read more books by this author in the near future.
Brooke and her young daughter, Isabella, are on the run after her husband was murdered in front of Isabella. The murdered is chasing them down and it is clear to Brooke that her father - a powerful US Senator is behind all of it. After an accident, Isabella turns up on Michael's doorstep in Montana to get help for her mom. Michael is an Iraq war veteran who suffers from severe PTSD. He's been through a lot and now lives a relatively peaceful life raising and training horses for equine therapy.
I liked a lot about this book - Brooke and Michael are great characters. But I didn't love a few things...I didn't love how Isabella's selective mutism is "cured" after a single encounter with a horse. Equine therapy is definitely a great therapy for PTSD and is proven to work - but usually not that quickly. There were also a few moments towards the end that were really - tough for me to swallow. I felt like Brooke was not thinking straight and Michael - who had been helping her just went along with her instead of being the voice of reason.
But overall - I did like it - this is a romantic suspense book with a strong Christian theme and elements.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.
DANGER UNKNOWN by KATHI ORAM PETERSON is a fast paced suspense novel with some romance and a good story. We are taken on a roller coaster ride with Brooke Steward and her daughter Izzie as they try to escape her husband’s killer. The plot is well worked out, full of twists and turns, as terrifying sercrets come out into the open.
I like the fact that Michael Calder uses horse therapy to help Izzie just as Cap used it to heal Michael from PTSD.
The characters are believable and it is altogeter an enjoyable read.
I do not want to tell you any more for fear of spoiling things for you.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
This story begins with a lot of action and doesn’t stop. Brooke has an officer after her, at the direction of her own father. Getting out of the killer’s sights proves harder than what they imagine. I enjoyed all the suspense and getting to know the characters.

This book started in on action right away and never slowed down. Which was a good thing. Some twists and turns, and predictable pairing, but overall good read.

Kathi Oram Peterson knows how to weave an intricate, action filled and page turning book! This was a fantastic read, full of twists and turns and I loved it!
4.5 stars
Wow! This was such a suspenseful book. Danger Unknown is the first book that I have read by Kathi Oram Peterson and I really enjoyed it! It was a wonderful blend of suspense and romance. I have to admit I was a little worried about reading this book because I get scared easily, but it was a lovely book with just the right amount of suspense at least for me.
Brooke was on the run with her daughter. She was just trying to keep herself and her daughter, Izzy alive. However when everything seems to come crashing down help comes from an unexpected source. Michael Carter has been haunted by his past, but things change when he is awoken from a nightmare by a knock on his door. He finds a small child who leads him to her injured mother. Michael is unexpectedly brought into Brooke’s troubles, where a man is trying to silence her and her daughter. As Brooke and Michael fight to stay alive they find themselves drawing closer to each other. Will they be able to keep each other and Izzy safe or will they become the latest casualty in a deadly conspiracy?
Brooke was just trying her best to survive and protect her daughter. I really felt for her, she found herself in an impossible situation and she was just trying to keep afloat. I liked how Brooke felt real, I was able to relate to her. Brooke was strong but she was also at her wits ends. It was sweet to read about her learning to trust Michael and learning to stand up for herself. Brooke will have to learn to face her fears of the past if she wants to keep her daughter safe.
Micahel was just so kind, I really liked him as a character. He unexpectedly found himself drawn to this mother and child and he was doing his best to help them. His relationship with Izzy was just so sweet, he wanted to keep her safe. It was cute to read about him reaching out to Izzy and trying to break her out of her shell. He was a military man so he knew how to protect others and he was determined to protect Brooke and Izzy. However this situation was bigger then he could have imagined and Michael will need help if he wanted to protect Brooke and Izzy, people who have worked their way into his heart.
I liked how the relationship between Michael and Brooke grew. It did not feel rushed and although it was faster, it made sense because of the circumstances. I liked how they first wanted to help each other and then it grew to love. I was on the edge of my seat while reading this, I needed to know what was going to happen. There were so many surprises and more things just kept on popping up. It was quite an adventure. I also adored Izzy, she was just the sweetest little girl. I felt so bad for her, but I loved reading about her connecting to Michael.
Danger Unknown was a thrilling book and I would definitely recommend it. It is a suspense book so be warned. I would recommend it to those who enjoy lighter suspense if that even makes sense.:) Danger Unknown is a clean suspense book.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
Couldn’t stop reading. So good!
The pieces of this story are so amazingly woven together. Each piece builds on the last one and sets the stage for the next yet does it in such a way that you are never quite able to predict what is coming next. The craftsmanship of the work is superb and will totally pull you in and not let you go. The main female, Brooke, is on the run, hiding with her daughter from the man who killed her husband and is now planning to kill both her and her daughter. Brooke has been running for months. Constantly living in fear, when the killer walks into the small, nondescript diner she has been working in. She escapes out the back, rushing to collect her daughter and get as far away as possible. One thought continues to nag at her. How can he continue to find her? In her rushed escape she falls asleep at the wheel crashing her car, knocking herself out. Her daughter frees herself and finds help at a cabin owned by Michael. Michael was once an army ranger and medic and quickly heads out to help Brooke. But he soon senses that not everything is as simple as Brooke wants him to believe. Soon he is invested in keeping both Brooke and her daughter safe when all the sources of danger and forces behind the threat are unknown. A great read! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.
