I enjoyed this first book in a series featuring Gabriella, a Recovery Agent, and her ex-husband, Rafer. Gabriela is an "Indiana Jones" type of character who searches for lost items for clients. Rafer is a dive shop owner and the opposite of Gabriela in every way. They still have a lot of chemistry but just can't live together. Rafer joins her latest adventure in the jungles of South America and a variety of villains try to kill them at every turn. Humor, action, and a touch of romance, make this a fun read.

Gabriella Rose makes her living as a Recovery Agent. She travels the world, hunting for artifacts and lost and stolen treasures. Her latest adventure is tasked by her grandmother, who wants her to recover the Seal of Solomon in order to rebuild her hometown after a devastating hurricane.
I'm slightly embarrassed to say that this is my first Janet Evanovich novel. It was a fast paced, entertaining read and there was good chemistry between Gabriella and her ex-husband Rafer. The only negative thoughts that I have about the book is the cartoonish villain and the extremely helpful drug lord. These characters and situations could have been fleshed out to be more believable, but maybe I'm just thinking too much when I should have just turned off my brain and enjoyed the adventure.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my honest review after getting an ARC through NetGalley.

No, just NO. This is Stephanie Plum with just a different name and job. I gave up on the Plum series after book 12, but LOVED the Fox and O'Hare series until the last two books, and want more of Knight & Moon but am so afraid of the characters I love being destroyed. This is a bad rom com adventure, that could have been amazing if it wasn't just like her Plum series... so much alike that if it was a different author it would be called out.

Please just find a great co writer again and give us some amazing stories, like the Full series which to this day I own and re read once a year.

An adventure with nonstop action, fierceness and a teasing of romance. Gabriela is a recovery agent that works finding missing or stolen treasures and assets. Her current task is to find the Ring of Solomon and give the money to her hometown so they can rebuild after a category 4 storm greatly damaged the town.

I enjoyed the love/hate relationship between Gabriela and her ex-husband Rafer. It was both humorous and supportive. There was also lots of action that keeps the story moving along. Thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Gabriela is good at finding lost items. She has been hired to find a variety of things, some small and some not so small. Her most recent job is to help her family, because of storm damage; they need money fast and believe the best way to that end is to find a hidden treasure that has become part of their family legend. The Ring of Solomon is rumored to be in the jungles of Peru and her ex-husband has the map. Gabriela and Rafer are now gallivanting around the globe in search of this ring, but they aren’t the only ones. There is also a drug lord and his henchmen close on their tail. The ring must be real because Gabriela’s family needs it, but can they find it before the others looking for it?

The Recovery Agent is the first book in the Gabriela Rose series. This newest novel by Evanovich is everything fans will hope for. There is the obvious action and adventure, but there is also a hint of romance and a splash of humor. I don’t know if it is because I’m about the age of the main characters, but I found myself laughing out loud (literally) with some of the one-liners they were spouting out. The only downside of this series is that it is new and there isn’t anything else to read next (yet).

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved Janet Evanovich books for years so I was excited for her new series. I like the new idea of a recovery agent and that the main character is a bit more informative about what she does. She is not as clumsy or clueless as some of Evanvanich’s other main characters. Gabriela is definitely on top of her game with information, wits, and how to survive.

I think because this was the first in the series I miss the familiarity of the characters and would have loved more back stories on Gabriela family as well as Rafer. The side characters were all great and helped the story move well. I also feel that several times there was a bit of a gap between the end of one chapter and the start of the next. It didn’t alway flow well, I felt like I missed something when starting the new chapter.

Overall, I can't wait to see where this series goes.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me through NetGalley. This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. I just lost myself within this amazing story. I most definitely will read more by this author.

Janet Evanovich has a talent for writing books with interesting, smart, strong and independent female leads. The Recovery Agent, first in hopefully a long long series, is a fun read that takes us to Peru, St. Vincent and California on the hunt for the Seal of Solomon.

Gabriela Rose is a recovery agent. She is hired by individuals and companies to find and return lost treasures, missing assets and family heirlooms. Early in the first chapter on expedition, we learn Gabriela can encounter uncomfortable and possibly deadly situations in her work. We also learn Evanovich is going to take us on a wild ride full of danger, but keep us laughing.

If you enjoy Raiders of the Lost Arc, Romancing the Stone, Indiana Jones, or National Treasure, you will love this book. Best of all, Evanovich continues to give us terrific characters and action galore. Super fast paced, focusing on quick-witted sassy dialogue, this is a book that gives action, action, adventure, thrill and more action.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Atria books and Janet Evanovich for the opportunity to read and greatly enjoy this ARC. I’m hooked and ready for the next case Gabriela Rose takes us.

I love Evanovich's light hand, but here it felt very juvenile. It should have been a fun non-stop Indiana Jonesy read, but instead it was very bleh. The characters were very flat and so was the humor. The reader is just being told one ridiculous thing/situation after another with no real oomph behind it. Fine for a distraction or maybe a film, but no real heart to the text.

I received an advanced copy of the Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I have read and enjoyed all of the Stephanie Plum novels and couldn't wait to give this one a try. Recovery Agent didn't disappoint. Gabriella finds things for a living. She's well armed, well traveled, and quick witted. Family legend tells of a great treasure, unfortunately it's hidden under her ex-husbands bedroom floor. When she finds a centuries old journal she ends up on a search like she's never imagined, with her ex-husband tagging along for the ride. Include a cast of quirky characters for a fun romp through the Peruvian jungle.

A fun, enjoyable, adventure-filled book! Gabriella is a recovery agent, who looks for lost properties and artifacts. She is tasked by her family (and the family ghost) with recovering the Seal of Solomon, a legendary ring that's supposed to give great powers to whoever has it. To do so, she has to cooperate with her ex-husband Rafer.
Our patrons really enjoy this light-hearted writing. I will be ordering this for our library.

I have loved Janet Evanovich books for years so I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of her new series. She stays true to her form with a light and fun story with lots of laughs and sticky situations. If you’re a fan of Stephanie plum, you’re sure to love this new novel as well. I can’t wait to read more in this series!

The more recent Stephanie Plum books haven’t quite had the same joie de vivre as the earlier part of that series so I was hoping to find that same fun as the early Plum books in this book. Gabriela Isn’t the incompetent bumbling fool that Stephanie is. She’s a bit too competent instead…. Seems to be pretty good at all the things she might need. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dislike the book. It was the fluffy bit of entertainment I expected from an Evanovich book and I’ll probably read book two but I had higher hopes for this book. It reminded me of a light weight action movie and that’s fine in a book! Just don’t expect the world from this book. On a good note though, there was a sample chapter at the end for the next Stephanie Plum book and it was more interesting that the last five or ten or so Plum books have been. I’m looking forward to that book now where I hadn’t been after reading the last of those.

I haven’t read an Evanovich book in a while and it was nice getting back to her fun way of portraying mystery and romance. This one has a bit more “meat” than her usual with more travels and the whole treasure hunt. Not as much fun banter between the two exes as I expected but this is definitely a good escape from world problems right now. Nice to see a new series from her!

Janet Evanovich has given us a brand new heroine to love! Gabriela Rose is climbing her way straight to the top with grappling hooks and high-end taste. A cast of loveable characters, plenty of action, and trademark humor sprinkled with just enough snarkiness marks this as the newest adventure to sink into.

The Recovery Agent is the first book in a new series from Janet Evanovich.

"Gabriela Rose can find stuff - especially hard-to-find stuff. She is back in her hometown of Scoon, SC. A hurricane has devastated the homes and businesses and no one can afford to rebuild. Family lore says that Gabriela is a descendant of Blackbeard the pirate. Her grandmother begs her to look for the lost Treasure of Lima that included the Seal of Solomon - a powerful ring. Money from the treasure could help save the town. But Gabriela is not the only one that wants the ring."

There are similarities in this story and other Evanovich books and characters. But it's still a fun read. There's a demon-cult leader who can appear and disappear in cloud of green smoke (who also makes a nice bottle of wine) Pepe, the guide with some powerful, convenient relatives. Rafer, the ex-husband who is still in love with Gabriela. And Annie the ghost who is extremely helpful. JE sends her characters to some wild places. If you have a snake phobia, you may want to skim some parts.

I like that Gabriela is from SC, even if it is a fictional town. There are a lot of pirate stories in the Low Country.

This is a fun read from Evanovich. Plenty of insane characters and situations we've come to know from her. A great read if you're looking for a good time in the jungle.

Light, quick, fun read in Janet Evanovich’s signature style. I really like the new characters and the dynamic between Gabriella and Rafer- excited to see where they go!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

Janet Evanovich pulls us into her new world of excitement in her new Release The Recovery Agent. In it we meet Gabriella Rose, a specialist in recovery lost or stolen items, and sometimes people. In this debut novel to a new series Gabriella is pulled by her family into hunting for a long lost family treasure to try to save her home from being lost. Gabriella is not happy when her Ex-Husband, Rafer is pulled into the adventure and off they go! If you are a fan of the author’s Stephanie Plum series you will love this start to what I will expect to be another long running series for the author. You get all of the lightness and fun that you would expect from an Evanovich novel, with some action and adventure thrown in for good measure. The author writes stories that instantly pull you into her character's world and you become invested in the outcome of their stories and Recovery Agent is no exception. I look forward to more stories with these two to see what new adventures they bring.

This is by far the best book I've read this year. I got drawn in so quickly and completely that I couldn't put it down and finished it in less than a day.

From the jungles of South America to the islands of the Caribbean the descriptive story telling in this had you right in the middle of all that is happening.

It's vibrant, immersive, imaginative, everything I look for in a good action-packed book. I have to say this one made me a Janet Evanovich fan for life. I can't wait to see what other tight spots Gabrielle and Rafer find themselves in next.

When I first started reading the idea of life as a recovery agent sounded fascinating, like a cross between Indiana Jones and Laura Croft, in the best possible way, throw in the fact that she's a descendant of Blackbeard and has a friendly ghost that only her grandmother can communicate with, and you have literally what is in my opinion the perfect first book of a series.

Knowing Gabriella was doing what she was to find the ring of Soloman for the reason she was, not fame or prestige but to save something important made her one of the best, most noble characters I've come across in a very long time.

Even when the cards were stacked against her, she made choices that a lot of people wouldn't have, choices that made her seem ethical, and caring while still being able to hold her own in any situation.

Every aspect of this one drew me in and kept me reading. into the early hours of the morning and I don't regret a single second of the sleep I missed because I just had to know how this one was going to end, and I wasn't disappointed.

I can't wait for the next one and in the meantime, I'll be reading some of the other series by Janet Evanovich because she is one of the most talented authors I've ever read.

Recovery agent Gabriela Rose’ family home is in danger of being torn down, so Gabriella, intrigued by a family legend, heads to Peru in search of the Ring of Solomon. Gabrielle ends up having to team up with her ex-husband, Rafer, to find the treasure. They must work together to find the ring before a ruthless drug lord finds it first.

If you are fan of the Stephanie Plum series, you will enjoy this book. Gabriela Rose is very different than Stephanie, but the humor is there. Gabs, as Rafer calls her, is strong and determined. She is fearless and doesn’t let obstacles get in the way of her ultimate goal.
The one thing I like about starting a new series is the introduction of new characters. This book has a ton of characters and they are all well written. Gabriela and Rafer have an interesting relationship and there is still an attraction between them. The guides they use in Peru help them out throughout the book and they are a lively bunch. The descriptions of the Peruvian terrain are vivid and action is undeniable. There is also a lot of history about the Incas and the Ring of Solomon. I found all of the information interesting. The bad guy worships Supay and I ended up doing research myself to learn more.
I think this series is going to be another favorite of mine from this author and I look forward to the next book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
