Janet Evanovich’s new series is an uniquely intriguing page turner…The Recovery Agent contains all the elements that immediately grab your attention, holding it through the many twists and turns that keep you captivated. With fantastically descriptive locals, quirky characters (a Janet Evanovich trademark), rapid fire banter, perfectly timed humor, and requited chemistry between Gabriela and her ex-husband Rafe, the Gabriela Rose stories will assuredly join the ranks as another phenomenal series for Ms Evanovich.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Missing Janet Evanovich? New Series Alert! Meet Gabriela Rose from Fortune and Glory (Tantalizing Twenty-Seven).
Gabriela Rose is a "recovery agent," hired by individuals and companies seeking lost treasures, stolen heirlooms, or missing assets. Gabriela is a modern day superwoman and well trained in martial arts and weaponry.

Her latest job, however, is not a stolen company asset. Instead, she needs to assist her own family in South Carolina who are about to lose their homes due to debts caused by hurricane damage. Their only hope is for Gabriela to find a special ring connected to the historic explorer (invader) Cortez. As Gabriela makes plan to fly to Peru she is tasked with bringing her ex husband "Rafer" - her childhood love and complete opposite.

This was a super fun read and fast moving and quick. I also loved some of the sidekicks and hope to see them in book 2. If you like Janet Evanovich, ass-kicking heroines and just fun and light thrillers, than this book is for you! #TheRecoveryAgent #Atria #NetGalley

Put together a wise-cracking, sexy ex, an array of oddball guides, and evil snake-demon worshippers with a female Indiana Jones who wears diamonds and La Perla under her fatigues, and they are all after a mystical relic in South America. The supporting cast is genuinely funny, main character was 2-dimensional, self-indulgent, and too self-centered to actually like in any way - but a light and quick read with some chuckles.

Janet Evanovich brings us a new series filled with recovering treasures and adventures. We meet recovery agent Gabriela Rose and her family. When catastrophe hits home and needs saving, Gabriela's grandmother gives her a message from their resident ghost Annie. This sets her up for another adventure which ends up involving ex-husband Rafer. Will they be able to find the treasure that will save them? Will sparks fly again between Gabriela and Rafer?

Janet Evanovich brings us her signature style that is familiar with Stephanie Plum and her adventures in this new series. Gabriela is good at her job of recovering items for her clients. There is humor sprinkled all over the book whether it is through the different characters they meet, their comebacks, or the situation. Although there are similarities between the two series, there are enough differences to enjoy Gabriela without too much Stephanie.

I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Karlyn from Atria Books.

This was a fun start to a new series. It is filled with adventure and has a dash of humor. Of Evanovich's series, I think this one was more like the Wicked series than Stephanie Plum. Gabriela is a great lead protagonist (more put-together than Stephanie) and I would absolutely read another one in this series. It's easy reading, very fast-paced, and great escapism if you want some adventure without leaving your couch.

The Recovery Agent is the first book in a new Janet Evanovich series. It stars Gabriela Rose, a recovery agent, searching for The Seal of Solomon in order to save her hometown. She teams up with her ex-husband and a crew that feel like a group right out of a Stephanie Plum novel. They travel to several countries on their search and have repeated run-ins with El Dragon and his henchmen, The Recovery Agent is a fun read with adventure and humor and exactly what one would expect from the author. I haven't missed reading any of Evanovich's novels and this series will be on the list of reads I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC!

I was willing to like this character but the book lacks a certain charm. It reads as though there is a competent, less impetuous, and financially better off Stephanie Plum, which...erm...why?

Love that Janet Evanovich has started writing a new series and this book is a great beginning! It's fun, it's a quick read and likable characters! Different than the Stephanie Plum books, but in a very good exciting way!

Thank you to net galley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

This is the first book in Janet Evanovich’s new series. I did enjoy the characters and the secondary characters were so funny. Of course this being a Evanovich book there has to be multiple explosions. This book starts in the USA and then goes to South America and then to Peru. How many times can you be caught by the evil drug lords and his evil army and not get hurt. Overall I did enjoy the book due to the characters and the relationship between Gabrellia and her ex husband

WOW!! What an amazing read! I have loved each and every one of the Stephanie Plum by the numbers books and was excited for this new series. I loved the Recovery Agent. I cannot wait until it is a blockbuster film.
Thank you!

I would buy this book definitely, but I was really let down by this book. I went into it knowing that it wasn't a Stephanie Plum book, but I was expecting the book to be as fun to read. It's obvious that Evanovich was trying to avoid a Stephanie Plum book while still being fun, but she misses in this case. It's entertaining, but it's missing the special spark that all her other books have. It's almost like it was written by someone who was trying to copy her, but failed.

In her own book, Gabriela Rose comes off as a little less butt-kicking and a little more as someone who relies on others to help her. (See Fortune and Glory: Tantalizing Twenty-Seven Fortune and Glory Tantalizing Twenty-Seven (Stephanie Plum, #27) by Janet Evanovich ). This book seems very similar to Ms. Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, and I liked that very much.

I liked the fact that Gabriela has an ex-husband helping her out (and with a name like Rafer, what was Janet thinking when she named him that?), and the best part of this book was side-kicks (which I know they are not 'good' guys), but they are humorous side-kicks nonetheless.

Gabriela is a recovery agent-she goes looking for things treasures, family heirlooms, etc., that have been lost or stolen. But this time, things get personal for her when her family's town is destroyed in a hurricane, and they need the money from the legendary Ring of Solomon, which of course, she and Rafer just happen to have a map to!

This was an interesting story that took place in multiple countries and parts of America.

The heat level between Gabriela and Rafer is not too steamy, but it's there. One of the best parts of this book was the secondary characters, and I hope to see them in future books.

All in all, a typical Janet Evanovich quick, fun read.

I know I'm not the only one to have grown a bit weary of the overall silliness of the author's popular Stephanie Plum, her wacked-out family and friends and inability to decide between two hunky guys (at her age, she should be well beyond acting like a lovestruck eighth-grader). This new series doesn't fall far from that mold in terms of either quirky characters or plot, but it's far enough to make me a believer.

Yes, recovery agent Gabriela Rose is feisty - a good thing - and still pretending to fend off the advances of a hunky man (but this time it's just one, her ex-husband Rafer - a guy she's been best friends with since elementary school and with whom she's still in lust). Gabriela's grandma in storm-ravaged Scoon, South Carolina, regularly gets messages from a spirit named Annie, but at least she's not chasing ambulances and crashing wakes like Stephanie's Grandma Mazur. Gone, (happily, IMHO), is the equivalent of Stephanie's ridiculously off-the-wall cohort Lulu (she of the wild hairdos, skanky clothes and penchant for fried chicken). But one of the things I loved about the other series, the humorous lines that never failed to make me chuckle, thankfully have been carried over and sprinkled liberally herein.

As for the plot, that storm that damaged the small community didn't miss Gabriela's family home. But do or say what she might, she can't convince her relatives to cut their losses and move elsewhere. What they need, they say, is enough money to rebuild - $15 million ought to do it, they say. To get it, Gabriela's grandma begs her to go to Barbados, where she'll find maps belonging to the pirate Blackbeard (from whom Gabriela is descended, or so the story goes). How does grannie know of this treasure? She got it straight from her usual source - Annie.

Gabriela, it should be noted, lives in relative poshness in SOHO, is an expert in martial arts and a gourmet cook. Her job of recovering stolen heirlooms, lost treasures and such has taken her to some faraway places, but nothing quite like she encounters this time out. Once she decides that granny/Annie might be onto something, she makes a first stop at the house she once owned but gave to Rafer in the divorce. Wonder of wonders, she finds a treasure chest in the floorboards, exactly as Annie had predicted. No money, though; rather, the find is a very old journal from a well-known explorer who describes his quest to find the Treasure of Lima, notably the Seal of Solomon. That, in turn, is believed to have been held by Spanish conquistador Pizarro, who stashed it somewhere in the Incan city of Paititi.

Gabriela decides to head for the jungle, but Rafer - eyeing an opportunity to get both rich and lucky - insists on tagging along. Without too much fussing, she agrees, and off they go into what can only be called a wild adventure that nearly gets them both killed. And it is here that I'll stop; telling more would give away too much. What I will say is that those who have enjoyed Stephanie Plum should enjoy this series as well - or even agreeing with me that it's better. I'll also say thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a pre-release copy. Already, I'm looking forward to the next installment!

From the description I knew this was going to read like a Stephanie Plum novel. I was right. Gabriela looks for items and opposed to people but otherwise all the same feels.

Quirky girl. Hot guy. And all kinds of adventures.

If you enjoy the Stephanie Plum series then this is right up your alley.

Janet Evanovich writes a fun romantic-adventure thriller with lots of curveballs and excitement in this hilarious treasure-hunt. Gabriela Rose is a strong and firm-headed protagonist with a heart of gold and a witty demeanor as she tries to find a missing treasure linked to her family.

The narrative does require some suspension of disbelief and as such, it’s perfect to read as a fun and silly experience with light-hearted action and hilarious banter between the characters. Looking forward to more of Gabriela Rose.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book because I used to be a big fan of the Stephanie plum books by the same author but in recent years feel as though that series has gone downhill. But this book was a pleasant surprise. The main character was smart and sassy and not constantly making stupid mistakes and of course there was a love interest but I liked that it wasn't shoved down your face. This book kept me up till the wee hours of the morning because I needed to know what happened. There is a lot of action and adventure and of course treasure hunting. You can't go wrong with that. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

The first in her newest series, #JanetEvanovich 's #TheRecoveryAgent harkens back to her earlier series, #TheFoxAndO'HareNovels and #TheLizzyAndDieselNovels . The story pace is quick, taking the reader to exotic South American and Pacific Island locations in search of lost treasure with demon worshipers tailing. Throwing in the requisite South American drug lords who come to the aid the heroes time and again, as well as the odd life-long treasure seekers and Evanovich has a hit that most of her readers will love. The chemistry between recovery agent Gabriela and her ex-husband Rafer is palpable. Thanks for #SimonandSchuster and #NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to read and review this title.

#netgalleyarc. I love this author, I really do, but at this point all of her books are just the same. I had high, naive, hopes that this story would be new and exciting, and it wasn’t. It’s pretty much the author’s Fox and O’Hare series but just a little different. Did I enjoy it? Sure. Was it a fun quick read? Yes. It was also highly predictable and extremely familiar as I’ve read so many of the authors other books.
