Gabriela Rose is the Recovery Agent. Her job consists of finding lost treasures, stolen possessions, or other assets that aren't with the current owner. When one mission ends less than successfully, she finds that her family is in danger of losing their home and livelihood. In fact, her hometown is going down fast after being devastated by a hurricane.
Gabriela's grandmother insists that she talks to the ghost of "Annie" - and sends Gabriela on a mission to find a lost treasure from ages ago. Of course, it is possible that granny is a bit crazy, talking to ghosts. But, the treasure is priceless and will insure that the town -and her family - can be saved. She has to try.
One problem: Gabriela has to get a treasure map from under the house that she lost to her ex-husband in the divorce. Of course, the ex-husband: Rafer, wants to come along for the ride - as his hometown is the same and family still lives there.
A wild trek to Peru and a tangle with an insane-drug lord ensues. Will Gabriela get the legendary Ring of Solomon or will she end up as just another statistic in the string of deaths from the drug lord and his followers?
Evanovich has written a captivating storyline that keeps you wondering just what might happen next.
Janet Evanovich at her finest! Such a great book with page-turning action! Highly recommend this to any fan of the genre or Evanovich!
Gabriela Rose is no Stephanie Plum, but she comes close. She may have to grow on me. Nice to have a new series by Janet Evanovich. I do look forward to reading the next one. I am with Indiana Jones on this one, "did it have to be snakes?" Lots of interesting international travel.
This was a very good book Good start to a new series It was a lot more violent then the Stephanie Plum Series usually is
I just didn’t click with the writing style or the voice of the book. I believe that this stems back to my issue with the writers other work. I didn’t finish this for that exact reason as I really disliked the dialogue and voice. Might work for others, but not for me.
This book is very much written in the Evanovich style. You hear her voice coming though. The characters have an emotional push and pull, and I want to see more! I'm excited to see where Gabs an Rafer end up on the next adventure. This book left me wanting more.
