If you love romance and mafia stories, you will love this book!!
This is the first Jessica Ames' book I've read and I am excited to read more. She keeps you intrigued to where you don't want to stop reading. And the sex scenes are spicy like red hot chili peppers.
Sariah is born into a Mafia family where her life has always been controlled by her father. She is to be married off to a much older, horrible man from a different mob family. Sariah has two weeks before the wedding so she decides that those two weeks will be her time to live her own life knowing that after that her life will be controlled by a monster.
Lucas is a bad man to-the-bone mafia style. He meets Sariah and his life is about to change.
This book is definitely a roller coaster that you won't want to stop.
The Fraser Crime Syndicate and Ms. Ames have acquired a NEW FAN!!!
The intense, sexy, fast-paced story had me uptight, cringing, smiling!
The characters are robust and engaging.
I absolutely admired Sariah! The life she was dealt left few freedoms, but, she makes the most of it! Sneaky, she is!
Ah, Lucas. So protective. A one-night stand, that's how he went into it! Not how he came out of it!
These two will traverse a dangerous path to....
A Mafia Must Read!
Rating edit: 2.5 stars.
The blurb and the premise (plus the cover and title) gave me an impression that this book would have some elements of fantasy, not a regular contemporary erotic romance.
The basic storyline is interesting. I liked the sizzling chemistry of the protagonists, even though I didn't like them individually, especially the female protagonist. She's the classic example of damsel in distress and most of the time, I felt, she had been treated as an object. And the hero's main aim, right from the beginning, is to protect the heroine, which kind of annoyed me and I began to lose interest in the second half.
Overall, it was an okayish read. Unpopular opinion, it seems. Could have been a more interesting read if it was handled well.
Thank you for the ARC.
Crime, passion, and a hint of mystery. Fractured Vows was a quick and fun read. I enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next book in the series😊
Fractured Vows by Jessica Ames is the First book in the Fraser Crime Syndicate Series. This starts the story of Sariah Easton. Sariah's father is a awful man who has promised her to Jeremiah Wood a man more dangerous and awful. So she gets a plan to escape and give her virginity away. This leads her to meet Luke. This was a page turning read and I can't wait for more from this series.
This is the first in a new series and is Sariah and Lucas’ journey. Sariah is the daughter of a mob boss who is being forced into an arranged marriage to a mobster who is twice her age, to expand her fathers’ empire. Weeks before her marriage Sariah sneaks out of the house and goes into a bar and she meets Lucas, to whom she gives a fake name. Lucas is from another crime family, and he can tell Sariah has secrets, and he is adamant he is going to protect her. This is a well written story which is dark and gritty, and filled with undeniable chemistry, emotions, secrets, intrigue, danger, twists, action, truths, and love, which leads to a heartfelt and steamy compelling read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Sariah and Luke are perfect for each other. She needs someone strong enough to protect her. He needs someone to draw him back from the darkness. I loved the way everything played out across the book. It flowed well. I'm hoping for some more of them in Kane's story.
4 1/2 STARS!
Gritty, raw and explosive! With the first book in her Fraser Crime Syndicate series Jessica Ames is turning Lucas Fraser loose on the world and showing us a side to him we never expected in FRACTURED VOWS. Their lifestyle is dangerous and ugly, but the love this group of siblings feels for one another as life threatens to beat them down on a daily basis is addictive. I loved Sariah and Luke together and their love story was beautiful, but I really wanted more for the ending. It ended abruptly and I wanted at a minimum to hear how his family faired in the fallout of her association. I enjoyed seeing familiar faces from the Untamed Sons MC series!
I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series and would recommend it to anyone who likes a mafia style romance that has strict rules for the family and ugly fallout when tested. I'm looking forward to more to come in the series.
Fractured Vows is the first book in the Fraser Crime Syndicate series. This mafia story was filled with dark suspense and plenty of action with a bit of steam. This was my first book by Jessica and I greatly enjoyed it.
Sariah and Luke’s story held my attention from the very beginning until the end. Their chemistry was good and their connection as the story went on became more intense.
Sexy. Mafia Romance.
Sariah is the daughter of a powerful Mafia boss in London - and promised to another. A man old enough to be her grandfather, with a violent reputation.
Escaping her room, Sariah goes to a club in search of man to lose her virginity.
Lucas can't keep his eyes off of her - or his hands.
Until Lucas is told to married the daughter of a powerful family.
Creative, kept me interested. Loved it!
As the only daughter of a mobster one would think that Sariah would be cherished by her dad, but she alone knows his secret, the secret that brought about the death of her beloved mother, and now all she is, is a commodity to help him get more power. Desperately trying to find some happiness before an arranged marriage to a man older and more brutal (if that is even possible) than her father she sneaks out to find someone to rid her of her most prized possession, her virginity. Unfortunately, Sariah has been more sheltered than even she thought and a trip to the local club, aka meat market, might be her undoing until her white knight charges to the rescue, but Lucas is anything but knightly. The son of a powerful crime syndicate duo, Lucas Fraser has been brought up in darkness and violence, only really caring about his siblings until the night he sees a beautiful angel at the club and that night changes them both, whether or not it’s for the better is hard to say. This is a dark mafia style romance with connections to the author’s Untamed Son series (via Lucas’s brother Zeke and his woman) , although it mainly focuses on the Fraser family. There are some tough scenes and touchy subjects in this book but the dynamics between Sariah and Luke will have your Kindle going on fire and leaves you wanting more Fraser stories that hopefully (fingers crossed) will be coming soon, and as odd as it might seem his darkness and her light blend to make a beautiful, steamy and action driven romance. 5 stars must read ( although caution for those who don’t like the darker realities of mafia style romance). I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.
Wow!!
I loved getting into the Fraser family during the last book of the Untamed Sons series, Bailey, where we met Zeke and we were introduced to a mixed up crime family where essentially all the kids hated the parents.
So more of that absolutely comes out here but what also come through is such a feeling of family being everything (well amongst the kids anyway!) and the lengths they will go to to protect or avenge wrongs against their beloved siblings are just heart clenching.
I loved how this kicked off and Sariah was a fantastic character, so mature despite her young years and upbringing, and the descriptions of her treatment were explicit but well written.
I liked how they met, adored how they clicked and melted over how they ended up together in the end.
Lucas is my favourite of the brothers I think, again because of his maturity but also he so self aware, knowing how what he does might affect Sariah and yet making sure she isn’t kept in the dark.
These two just clicked for me and whilst I do feel there was a lot of “setting up” in this book (lots of characters you just know will be coupled up in this series in some way!!) I thought it was a great start to the new series and I can’t wait for the next book to see who it is, and also see if more drama is to come with the “whose the daddy??” Question that I felt was left hanging around in the end.
This book has all the makings of a great mafia romance book. Danger, violence, spiciness!! It was a really great and I really enjoyed every second of reading it! Only reason I didn't absolutely love it was that it felt a bit rushed to me at times. Things happened extremely fast at times with little to no interactions between scenes. It's an overall great read and I would definitely recommend!
This book reads like an action movie. I didn’t want to put it down, I wanted to know what happens next and this story delivers. This dark and twisted story of how these two meet is wild and crazy and I loved every page! Just when you think you have everything all figured out and there is this false sense of security be ready for the unexpected to happen.
I always crave a really good mafia romance. This one did not disappoint. I was glad to be introduced to a new author in a trope and genre I really love.
I went in completely blind other than what the title gave away and had zero regrets. I felt like it was good pacing and kept my interest,. It also made me want the next in line too.
Sariah has spent her entire life controlled by her father. He's the leader of a crime syndicate and sees his daughter as a tool to be used for his own gain. His latest scheme is arranging her marriage to another man, known as "the Butcher," to ensure an alliance. In a desperate attempt to avoid a painful wedding night, she sneaks out with one goal: lose her virginity on her terms. When she finds the perfect man, he's hesitant. Lucas has no intention of taking anyone's virginity, but how can he say no to the most beautiful woman he's ever seen? When the deed is done, he realizes once with her will never be enough and sets out to find her and keep her for himself. But he has no idea she's already promised to another.
There are lots of great things readers will enjoy about Fractured Vows. Lucas is charming if a little rough around the edges. The way the author managed to balance the heat with softness is perfect. The timing in how everything plays out keeps the reader on their toes the whole time. It's a sweet, quick read that plays into other storylines and opens up new ones readers will want to get their hands on ASAP.
The issues readers may have with this novel are pretty par for the course with mafia romances. It's a little predictable and a little cheesy. There's one scene where the villain threatens to do something truly vile, and he has the desire, means, and time to do so. Yet, for an inexplicable reason, he chooses not to. Because of what we already know about this character, it seems strange that he would choose restraint. While readers will be relieved this fate is avoided, the lack of reasoning why feels like a bit of a plot hole.
Even with the above, I rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It was enjoyable, steamy, and full of heart. Lucas is lovable and charming, and Sariah goes on a wonderful journey in finding her voice.
Be warned about some of the content, though. There are themes of S.A., scenes of brutal physical assault, and su*cidal ideation. If none of this is a dealbreaker for you, Fractured Vows is a perfect read for when you need a little steam, a little love, and a lot of drama.
I loved this novel! This author never disappoints. I have loved the other novels in this series. This novel did not disappoint. Fractured Vows sucked me in from the very first pages and did not let me go until the very last page. Even then I did not want this novel to end. I loved Sariah, my heart broke for everything she went thru. I loved Luke and Sariah together. Their chemistry was so so good. This novel kept me guessing what was coming next. I love when a novel can keep me on the edge of my seat and ultimately leaves me with a happy heart. This novel checked all of my boxes, I loved it! I can hardly wait to see what is coming next for Kane. I loved it and can't wait for what is coming next.
I really enjoyed this read - it was fun, full of action (and a few twists), and was a page turner that I couldn't put down. I've read a couple others in this series, and I always enjoy learning more about different characters in the overall plot. I also love finding a great series so there's always something new and fun to read. I highly recommend checking this one out!
Trigger Warning: abuse and sexual assault
- Mob family
- Marriage of convenience
- Hidden identity
- Touch her and I'll kill you vibes
- Spice
Sariah Easton is the daughter of a Mob boss and every aspect of her life is controlled. Set to marry a man who is twice her age, she's determined to take control over one aspect of her life while she can. Sariah sneaks off to a club in search of a man to lose her virginity to.
Lucas Fraser is the son of a Mob queen who will do anything for his family. In search of some fun for the night to let off some steam, he finds the beautiful and innocent Sariah, only she provides him with a fake name. Intrigued by "Alice", he takes her virginity and realizes one night with her was not enough. Except after a few nights together, she disappears and he now has to fulfill a family obligation.
"I twist around and peer up at my savior. He's not the white knight on the horse. He is the black robed horsemen coming to claim my soul."
This thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down once I started it. It was a roller coaster of a journey. I love the "touch her and I'll kill you" vibes. Luke embodies an alpha while also being so gentle and loving with Sariah. His nickname, "little dove", for Sariah melted my heart! So cute!
A few things I didn't like about the book. Luke constantly brought up his obligation and love for his family. We get it dude. You love your family and will do anything for them. This being constantly brought up throughout the entire book was a minor turn off.
*Thank you to the author and Netgalley for providing me with a E-ARC of "Fractured Vows" in exchange for an honest review.*
I don't normally read Mafia romances, but something about Fractured Vows drew me in. It was dark and twisted , but the chemistry was very hot.
