THE REUNION was such a delight to read! The ex-rivals and big time jump made this a super unique romance -- I loved the author's writing style and the chemistry between the characters!
Unfortunately, I could not get into this book. I ended up not finishing it. The main character, Posy, is too immature and superficial for me. I struggle to enjoy a romance when I do not like the main character. I also feel like there are too many tropes at play (enemies to lovers, fake dating, marriage of convenience) for any one of them to be done well. I found myself dreading picking up the book to read. It just feels like this author needs more time to develop her craft.
The Reunion by Elizabeth Drummond is a delightful and lighthearted romance that will captivate readers who adore fake dating, friends-to-lovers, and enemies-to-lovers tropes, and are looking for a humorous and heartwarming story that explores the ups and downs of relationships and the power of second chances.

I'm very sorry but this title isn't for me.
I really struggled to get to Chapter Seven because of the female protagonist.
The plot itself seemed promising but I just can't tolerate certain statements.
Before I give you some examples, I want to specify that the protagonist, Posy, is 30 years old.
The phrase that left me most shocked was this, referring to his father’s second wife:
“Why should my boyfriend meet Ines?” Posy’s lower lip jutted in petulance. “She’s not my mother. Why does she get to weigh in on this?”
“Right, she’s not your mother,” Jesper echoed, “but she loves you. She’s also my wife and has been for a long time now. I trust her on every personal matter. So, until she and I meet this boyfriend, I’ll keep on believing he’s yet another flash in the pan flirtation. Darling, I simply want you to have purpose.”
I’m fine with you hating your stepmom, but I expected that from a 15-year-old girl, not an adult.
Too bad, the male character was also liking!
I really did not connect with this book and found Posy particularly jarring.
It was obvious where the plot was going but I didn’t care about the characters enough to continue.

For fairness I will star rate with the average.
unfortunately i had to DNF this book. i was really struggling to connect with the writing style and i just had no interest in where the plot was going. i’ll definitely try this author again though.
I didn’t connect with this book as much as I had hoped, so I had to DNF. It didn’t keep me engaged but I did enjoy the writing style.
Talk about a slow burn! I found this book to be cute, quick, and just okay! For me there was nothing notable about this one, but still enjoyable.
Sometimes I just want to be passively entertained by a book. I don't want to have to think hard, I don't want to have to try, I just want some transparent characters and an easy going storyline. The Reunion was all of the above and it was the exact kind of book I needed at this time.
Posy and Lucas were childhood enemies and due to their polar opposite backgrounds, their paths hadn't crossed since leaving school. However the reunion was enough to prove that they were still enemies, but of course there was going to be more to it than that. Both characters were easy to like in different ways but also easy to be frustrated with. I do wish there had been a little more spark between them. Their love story didn't have an awful lot to it and it didn't feel super authentic to me by the time they'd realised they were in love with each other.
I remain pretty neutral on this book. It didn't astound me, but I didn't hate it either. It entertained, it was pleasant enough and the characters weren't completely awful. A good easy to follow weekend read.
2⭐, 1.5🌶️
This just was not the book for me. The romance just didn't read for me - at no point did I feel the love or intimacy between our two MC's, and the fact that Posy is in a relationship with another person for over half of the book made the quick switch and attraction for her and Lucas more unbelievable. Unfortunatley this isn't a book I would recommend.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for an eARC of The Reunion by Elizabeth Drummond. This is my honest and free opinion.
This is an interesting book with well written characters. I did like it, but found the plot to be a bit slower than what I was looking for at the time. All in, although it is an interesting book to read.
I love second chance romances and this one was really fun and full of opposites attract. I do think the cover is underwhelming and could use a revamp.
I enjoyed this book, It was easy to read, and I loved the premise of the story. A unique way of using popular tropes
I loved this book so much. I took the classic tropes like enemies to lovers and marriage of convenience but they were rivals in high school *swoons*. This book was such a joy to read and I loved how Posy and Lucas really came together despite the burning animosity of their pasts.
I had a rough time with this book. I felt like Posy as a character was inconsistent. She would act different depending on who she was talking to so it made her hard to relate to. Lucas was not much better. The chemistry between them was also not as fulfilling as it could have been. The plot was an interesting concept, but I feel that I've read other books with the same concept with more chemistry.
I am not quite sure how I felt about this book, it had the premise to be something awesome with the enemies-to-lovers trope, although it really doesn't deserve all the negativity it has got. Posy is entitled and very self-centered, and Lucas is very wet, but at the same time, there is something about these two together that worked for me. The romance was a slow burn and was cute and I must admit near the end when Jasper was telling Posy about Hurricane, it did make me well up a little bit.
I adored the narrator, with all her accents as she gave life to these characters as we watched Lucas and Posy navigate their way through a bylaw which meant their school had to pay for their wedding....this wedding however is very fake and the school knows it too.
I did find it entertaining watching them bumble their way through the planning and keeping their secret and despite being a long audiobook, I felt we didn't scratch the surface with the characters. I felt like we had room for so much much more characterisation. I wanted to know more about what made these characters tick.
The book flowed easily and I enjoyed the ride. We got the outcome we knew was coming all along and I loved the twist with the epilogue. I thought it was a cute way to end the book.
It's not a book that will stay with me, but it was a book I enjoyed and so did the mini-me when she listened to it in the car with me. It was a lovely ending and a fab story, I would have just loved a bit more substance.
My review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Two people who didn't get on at school are now the people who can help each other out the most.
I enjoyed this story, and the machinations that they go through! It's a light, easy read, with a good pacing on the story, and a fun set-up!
If you're looking for a light entertaining romance, then this is a good pick!
I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins.
Easy to read, hard to put down full of sparkling banter, lovable characters and a great plot. Couldn’t ask for more!
Never before have I laughed as much as I did while reading this. Make sure you all add it to your TBR lists because it's the ideal summer read. The plot was entertaining, the major characters were endearing, and the pacing was flawless. neither too quick nor too sluggish. The perfect romcom.
I did not enjoy this book at all, sadly.
I don't know whether it was because of the pace or writing but it felt way too slow and and too fast at the same time.
The story did not interest me at all and it all felt too...monotonous.
