First time that I have read CL Taylor and won't be the last!
Olivia is released from prison after serving 5 years for plotting to murder her husband.
Olivia still protests her innocence and wants to reunite with her daughter.
Olivia starts to look into what happened and finds out more than she bargained!
A good page turning novel that keeps you guessing to the end.
I love that this story started off with a bang. I was immediately pulled into the mystery! I couldn't stop turning the pages to see what actually happened! Great ending! C.L. Taylor is a really talented writer, and I will continue to pick up and read their books!
Solid 4 star thriller. Olivia is framed for the attempted murder of her husband. When she is released from prison 5 years later she sets out to prove her innocence. This was a fun read!
Olivia Sutherland has been sent to jail for conspiring to murder her husband, Dominic. She has maintained her innocence and when she is released some years later, she tries to prove that she was set up for her crime. This was a gripping thriller which grabs your attention from the beginning. Olivia is convinced that Dominic is involved somehow, but how does she prove it? I loved her relationship with fellow cellmate, Smithy and thought Smithy provided some much-needed dark humour into an otherwise tense and suspense filled storyline.
Olivia’s character did give me mixed opinions however! I liked her and felt sorry for what she had been through. However, she was a little naïve at times, and some of her actions didn’t really help her cause. Her husband, Dominic was not at all likeable and everything he did made me dislike him a little bit more. There was a bit of a guessing game as to who he was communicating with throughout and this secret was kept well under wraps until nearer the end. The storyline was full of tension and kept me on my toes throughout trying to work it out. I have to admit, I did struggle with some of Dani’s storyline – I understood the role she played but found her family storyline was not necessarily needed as much as it was.
Overall, this was a great thriller with a good pace and some cleverly positioned twists and turns! It kept me gripped into the storyline and once started I couldn’t put it down! Would recommend!
I think I will be making my appointment at the nail salon.... I have completely chewed my polish off while reading The Guilty Couple.
The Guilty Couple is an edge of your seat thriller that will completely consume you. Make sure you clear your schedule before you sit down to read as once you start you will be unable to stop.
There was not even a single moment that I was ever bored while reading. The Guilty Couple, has every key component to be a bestseller and I am here for it.
The intensity that this book holds will leave you grasping for air yet begging for more! I was completely addicted to each flip of the page. My heart was in my throat, my knuckles turned white holding my kindle. This book packs every bit of shock factor in an unforeseen twist.
The Guilty Couple is sure to be a hit and I would also love to see this get turned into a movie. This book has big screen written all over it
The Guilty Couple is a tale of betrayal and revenge. Olivia has just served a prison sentence for trying to arrange the murder of her husband Dom with her lover. That she didn't do but she's not exactly an innocent victim. And that's what I really liked about this book. Everyone in this book is a sneaky bugger. Even the kid! C.L. Taylor has delivered yet again with a fast paced and sometimes slightly batty (how long were they going to leave that in tge lock up??) thriller. Great stuff.
C.L. Taylor has written another corker of a thriller!
As always, there are great characters, some you relate to, some you detest. I adored Smithy, she is my personal fave.
The while story is twisted and creepy. It's very, very dark. Maybe her darkest yet. I was genuinely gripped from the start to the very end.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is superb!
I absolutely love C L Taylors books and I was delighted to get an advance copy of this book. Unfortunately it didn't grip me as much as I'd hoped, so took me a while to get into the story and some of the characters were insufferable (Dom) and Olivia was a bit too naive and "woe is me" at the outset. I also felt some of the side plots were a bit unnecessary. However I did really like Smithy and when Olivia got some backbone and there were a few twists that kept me guessing. My thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my advance copy in return for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
This was a great beach read! Good story, good plot, good characters. It kept me in the edge of my seat at a few points and I love the way it ended.
Rating edit: 3.5 stars
The main reason I wanted to read this book was the author, as I loved her previous book Strangers.
I won't say The Guilty Couple disappointed me, but I do have some issues.
Good things first:
I really liked the plot. It kept me curious throughout, for I wanted to know the 'who/how/whys?' as I kept guessing, which is a good sign for a thriller.
The characters are interesting, very well crafted. I could really feel for Olivia and Grace, which, again, is a wonderful thing. I really liked the friendship between the characters, however your faith keeps dwindling.
The story has been told from three points of view ―Dom, Olivia and Dani. I felt this story could have done without Dani's point of view, if it didn't make it more interesting. Sometimes, especially in Dani's pov, the writing style seemed too flat for my liking. It felt as though I was being fed information.
Otherwise, it was an interesting and engrossing (especially in the second half) read.
A fab thriller! Really enjoyed this one and was just as good as C L Taylor’s previous books! Gripping plot, fast pacing and excellent tension in the writing
What lengths would you go to prove your innocence?
Introducing Olivia, a wife and a mother who has been sentenced to jail for conspiring to kill her husband – Dom.
The story is told in three different perspectives – Olivia, Dom and Dani (the cop involved in Olivia’s prosecution). Full of characters you love to hate, some you dislike from the beginning and some you are unsure about. Dom is still living in the family home with daughter Grace but Olivia is not allowed to visit as a restraining order is in place for her but that does not stop her getting to the bottom of it all – who set her up and why?
What I enjoyed:
* Great Plot
* Fast Paced
* Short Chapters (I’m all for short chapters)
* Full of twists and turns
Thank you Avon Books UK and Netgalley for a gifted copy of this Kindle book for my honest review.
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
The Guilty Couple is Netflix drama worthy and it is definitely something that I would watch after such an amazing read! CL Taylor has definitely struck again.
Olivia Sutherland was wrongfully imprisoned for the attempted murder of her husband Dominic but with her release comes the desire to find out what truly happened and who framed her for this crime. As Olivia starts to investigate the true goings on it becomes apparent that Dominic is not as innocent as perceived and that police officer Dani is also in it up to her eyeballs in covering up Dominic's crimes. In the midst of trying to prove her innocence Olivia is also intent on building up a relationship with her estranged daughter, Grace, but can she find a way in when Dominic has manipulated Grace's emotions so much?
Overall this is a fantastic read. It is tense and fast paced with some really likeable characters. There are some interesting twists and it really does leave the reader completely gobsmacked as the ending is revealed.
WOW what a book! interesting intense! I will be recommending this to my followers who are obsessed with thrillers.
another great read and wow I didn't guess the ending was very gripping and so tense in parts the suspense was amazing, good summer read
The Guilty Couple, although entertaining at times, didn't entirely work for me.
The premise sucked me in. I loved the idea of a woman, wrongly convicted of plotting to kill her husband, gets out of jail and vows revenge. This sounded like it would be a suspenseful and tense thriller with some twists and turns along the way. I was hoping to be wowed and dazzled by the book. In the end, it was enjoyable and entertaining and did have the twists and yet, it failed to entirely wow me.
I can say I enjoyed this but didn't love it. Others have loved it, so please read their reviews as well.
Thank you to Avon Books UK, and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
After doing time for a crime she did not commit, Olivia is now free and out to get revenge against the man who framed her - her husband. But he knows what she's up to. Who will get their way in the end?
I knew this book had mixed reviews but I'm so glad I decided to read it to form my own opinion because I absolutely loved it! This one was unputdownable and tense throughout. There were plenty of twists and I really felt for Olivia at times. Highly recommend!
CL Taylor is one of my favourite authors and you always know that you won’t be disappointed and this latest one is no exception !!
Olivia Sutherland has just been released from prison after being found guilty of plotting to kill her husband. But she always maintained her innocence and know she has been released she is out for revenge !!
Dominic, Olivia’s husband, is still living in the family home with their daughter, Grace, and he has a restraining order on Olivia, so she can’t come near him. But is that enough to save him from a woman out for revenge !!
This is a great psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. The characters are great and you will find yourself totally invested in Olivia, despite some stupid decisions !! Will Olivia finally discover the truth or will she lose much more than her freedom before she can ? A real fun addictive read !!
Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
He framed her. Now she'll destroy him. The mistress of twisty thrillers has produced her tautest one yet, I reckon. Just finished this and it's a dark masterclass in suspense and tension.
