A simple and sweet book about Valentine's Day. Sawan has made an adorable tale for families to read with their little ones.
Max got a box of chocolates for his mother for Valentine's day, but the temptation proves to be too much. He eats all the chocolates before he gave give the gift to his mom. Devastated, he goes to dad. Wise dad tells Max that the box is full of love. To make up for it, Dad and Max bake cookies to put in the box. Later, Max spots another box of chocolates on the counter that Dad bought for Mom, and it too is empty. Father and son are more alike than they know!
A slightly silly tale, it is a fun one to read as a family.
A sweet tale in every sense of the word. Very heart warming, an innocent tale to be shared by anyone who ate all the pies, so to speak!

The illustrations in A Box Full of Love are adorable, full of perfectly blended warm colors and lovely scenes and characters. They draw the eye to them immediately, putting a big ole smile on your face!
The story tells about a young bear named Max, who had a box of chocolates for his mom for Valentine’s Day. He decides to have one and ends up chowing down all of the chocolates. Daddy Bear helps him with his problem by telling him the box is still full of love; they make some cookies to add to the box. Max sees another empty box of chocolates on the kitchen counter and realizes he isn’t the only one in the house who likes chocolates!
My Thoughts
A Box of Love is a simple story for young children, I’d say up until around seven years old. I like the story's premise that the box is still full of love, but I thought it should have addressed the issue; Max ate all of the chocolate he was supposed to give his mother. Unfortunately, it skipped right over that and made it a nonproblem. I would have liked to see that Max and Dad felt a bit more regretful; therefore, they made cookies for mom together while discussing their error.
If you want to read a short Valentine’s story to your little one, this could be the book for you. I enjoyed the story and the illustrations. If I were reading this to a child, I’d just discuss the issue as I read the book. It is a cute story overall!
I’d like to give a huge thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing this ebook for me to read and review.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
A Box Full of Love is a really heartwarming and sweet read for children about what love is.
In this story the little bear learns that love isn't about material things like gifts on valentines day, it is about expressing your feelings towards your loved ones. When he admits to papa that he has eaten all the chocolates he bought for mama, papa explains his box is still full - with love. They make cookies to go in with the boxes filled with love for mama. The ending gave me a good giggle and children will delight in how the story ends.
I'm sure this book will be a big hit on valentines day for years to come!
This heartwarming book will become a Valentine favourite I'm sure. Max, an adorable little bear cub, takes a peek into the heart-shaped candy box that is a gift for his mama for Valentine's Day. Oh the chocolate treasures that it houses look and smell delicious! All those sweets are very tempting and Max decides to taste just one. Oh my, how does one decide which one to chose when they all look so mouth-watering and yummy? Max makes his choice and the one chocolate turns into one more and one more and the little cub realizes that he has gobbled them all. The beautiful box is now empty. Oh my, what has he done? What about poor MAMA!
When he sadly reports his behaviour to Papa bear his beloved dad finds the perfect solution to his dilemma. Young kids will appreciate the papa/son relationship and how the problem is solved as they work together to make that happen.
This sweet holiday story teaches kids about honesty, sharing, love, and kindness. This book would be a perfect family read aloud and also would be an excellent addition to a classroom and school library. I highly recommend it.
I see where the author was going with this book but it misses the mark for kids. The boy and dad get a box of chocolates for mom and they both eat them all before she can get them.
Cute little story and illustrations, thought the font could have been a little more prominent on each page and the ending was a little rushed but I'm sure most kids will enjoy the sweet story.
Cute little Max thinks his Valentine's Day surprise is ruined until his father comes to save the day. Turns out, Max is a chip off the old block. A nice, subtle message of self-made gifts and overcoming regrets through positive actions rounds out the story. It does end abruptly, which could confuse some kids, but also lead to great discussion or a writing prompt for finishing the open-ended story. Cute illustrations make or a perfect read-aloud or self-reader for young kids. Book has classroom potential.
There is something about bear stories for young readers. Papa bear helps Max bear bake sweet treats for mama bear. It is an adventure in preparing, cooking, and waiting and maybe just eating one to celebrate the love of mom.
Young children will love the relationship between Papa bear and Max and the bond they form doing something for mom. Also getting into a little mischief is always fun too.
A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
A sweet little bear gets the perfect present for his mama bear for Valentine's Day. But the surprise is just a little too tempting for this tiny bear. Papa bear then teaches little bear what the holiday is all about.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I love to get my toddler theme books for holidays because they are a fun way to teach cultural traditions. This book is a sweet story with cute pictures. It kept my toddler's attention until the last page. She did ask for candy when we were through, though.
I mainly picked this up for the book cover but god DANG this was such a fun ride! It was great curling up in my bed while doing online school and just getting sucked into the characters’ world and their relationships
A very sweet holiday children's story. It shows the loving bonds between parents and their children and teaches children about love and kind gestures. A perfect book for not only valentine's day but all year round.
I loved the interaction between Max and his dad regarding the box of chocolates, the ending of their interaction made me chuckle. This book is short and sweet, and it has wonderful illustrations. A fun book for Valentine's day.
This was super cute and fluffy and honestly great for little children. I found myself smiling as an adult and can only imagine how young children would feel reading this. It was fantastic! 5 out of 5 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for a review e-ARC to read and provide feedback on. Pardon the pun, but this is a sweet read that's perfect for little ones, especially in timing for Valentine's Day. Beyond that theme, I also found what stuck out to me most is the way family bonding was presented, and how it shows unexpected but cute little traits that family members can share in common. I did feel that the story ended a bit abruptly and that I wanted to read more - and while not necessarily have it go on for tons more pages, but have more to the story itself.
Read this extra cute story with my (5) and (3) year olds! It was definitely a winner, this is the perfect read for Valentine’s Day! Short, sweet & adorable!
Charming book about a child who wants to give his mom the most precious gift. Heart warming story that evoked a good chuckle, followed by an audible “awwww”. Beautiful illustrations paired with a cute story left me wanting to see more. .
This book was so sweet. I love how it teaches that you don't need physical gifts to show love. The pictures were colorful and matched the story. My only complaint is that it seemed to end abruptly. I wish we had a little more of the story with Mama Bear.
A sweet and meaningful read about love and the many ways we can show it. Cute story and illustrations, but I think the book could be a bit longer.
