This one was just not for me- I struggled to finish it multiple times before reaching that conclusion. I enjoy dark fantasy but this felt layered with uncomfortable choices that weren’t handled in a sensitive way, and it felt like perhaps it was for growth? But then it didn’t feel like it really circled back around- maybe in the sequel? If so I’ll revisit my rating. That being said, your mileage may vary!

Due to the controversy surrounding the book, I chose not to pick this title up, although I have a physical copy that I will hopefully read somewhere down the line, but will prefer not to review it or star rate it due to the issues surrounding certain plot/etc.

I forgot to leave a review for this, but I really enjoyed it! It's been out for ages, so I won't say much more than I need to for my star rating. <3

I had trouble staying interest in this book, I kept putting it down and not wanting to pick it back up.

"We All Fall Down" by Rose Szabo is a captivating and emotionally charged young adult fantasy novel that explores themes of magic, sacrifice, and the complexities of family bonds. Szabo's storytelling prowess shines as they craft a tale of dark secrets, forbidden powers, and the struggle to find one's place in a world filled with danger. The book's richly developed characters and intricate plot create an immersive reading experience that resonates with teens and young adults. Szabo skillfully navigates the emotions of love, loyalty, and the weight of destiny, adding depth to the narrative. "We All Fall Down" is a poignant reminder that sometimes the greatest battles are fought within ourselves, and that the choices made can shape the course of history, leaving readers with a sense of reflection and a renewed appreciation for the power of magic and the strength of the human spirit.

I was not going to read this book due to all the contreversory regarding the author etc but I thought against it and read it anyways. I feel like everyone now and says are so quick to follow one another like a flock. One person says something and no one does research and just follow.
I actually enjoyed the book, my rating will be four. I didn’t love it nor hated it but it could of made more sense half the time but some parts were really good.

Thank you to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, and Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately due to other reviews that I have read from other readers that I trust I do not feel comfortable at this time to read and review this book due to problematic and harmful themes.
I do really appreciate the publishers for gifting me with this free digital copy and I apologize that I was not able to finish it.

I don't think I'm the right person to review this book as it speaks on problematic themes in ways that hit me personally.

I tried several times to get into this story, however, it just fell flat in many ways. The characters portrayal and treatment made me feel uncomfortable with continuing, which is why I took several breaks to try again. I loved the plot in the description, unfortunately this eventually became a DNF for me.

I an unable to review this title, as it was archived before I had a chance to download and read it. This feedback is only to stop this title from adversely affecting my netgalley feedback rate. If in the future I have the opportunity to read this title, I will post a proper review here.

The book is a DNF for me, did not like the problematic themes and characterizations in the writing. Not comfortable with it.

This is honestly hard for me to review as it is so problematic. I enjoyed the dark fantasy elements and I wish I could say that this had the lgbt rep it deserved but overall I think it was tainted by the author and some of the instances found in the book. Such a shame.

I am all about witch stories, and this is a really good one. I loved how the story came together, and I really enjoyed the characterization of everyone. A great read!

This just wasn’t the book for me. I was uncomfortable with some of the characterizations and the treatment of her gay characters in this book. I DNF’d.
I’m deeply grateful to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

The premise caught my eye... and obviously this beautiful cover. Short list of issues: convoluted plot, inaccessible characters, and overly long... this leads to some secrets/ confusion lasting way too long.
I DNF'd at about a third of the way through.

DNF at 10%. Usually my rule is DNF at 20% but the writing style feels so juvenile it's ridiculous. I also then read the reviews and Yeahhhh I'm not touching this.

1/5 stars, DNF
I could not finish this book as I felt some of the themes, characters, and more were racist. I did not want to promote this on my page or anywhere else. Thank you for the opportunity though!

This ended up being a fairly typical YA, unfortunately. I'm not sure why, but I was pretty surprised to find that it was mostly contemporary - somehow I had expected to find it set in a vaguely historic secondary setting. I found the characters quite nondescript, and couldn't get invested in them or the plot. I was quite surprised that I ended up finishing the story, to be entirely honest - it ended up fine, but nothing I will reread or seek out in the future.

This one kinda missed the mark for me. Props for pushing some good rep but also there were issues galore! DNF unfortunately.

I requested this title before hearing about all of the problems with this author, and therefore elected not to read it.
